- czeman, on 10/25/2007, -0/+1It's a common mis-conception that Amateur Radio Operators don't want BPL deployed, period. There are those who don't, but it's simply because they are unaware of the successful systems that don't generate harmful interference. Most, however, know about the well-designed BPL systems and are all for them! The issue boils down to the fact that manufacturers like to build products as cheap as possible.
Interference issues with modern electronics are typically due to the fact that the manufacturers didn't want to spend an extra few dollars (less than $10) to add components that would eliminate any chances of interference.
Most amateur radio operators are willing to work towards resolving interference problems if you simply ask them nicely. Yes, there are many who are dicks and will tell you to ***** off. Those guys are major *****. They aren't required to help you, as the devices their interfering with have a Part 15 sticker on them stating they must accept any interference, but that doesn't mean they shouldn't help. Doing the right thing and what you are legally obligated to do are two different things.
