- peskypescado, on 02/09/2008, -1/+6I wonder if this will end in a hostile takeover... Seriously, Yahoo is kidding themselves if they think a 62% premium isn't enough.

http://money.howstuffworks.com/hostile-takeover.ht ... - inactive, on 02/09/2008, -0/+2It will still happen. The shareholders of yahoo will not let it not happen. They stand to gain way to much. Not that it will matter. Maybe Google will buy Flickr, and Microsoft will get the rest of Yahoo, like, um... well, the rest.
- Azimuth1, on 02/10/2008, -1/+3Wow, thanks a lot, I read the entire thing. I never understood that before.
- ammar456, on 02/09/2008, -0/+2i cant believe theyre fighting it.. yahoo is a dying cause compared to google. at least this way, they have a real chance
- kazzyD, on 02/09/2008, -1/+3Yeah, it is a pretty bold accusation... When the open market values your company at X, and another entity offers you X + 62%, how can you say you're being undervalued?
- kazzyD, on 02/09/2008, -0/+1Don't count your chickens before they've hatched!
- gsadamb, on 02/09/2008, -0/+1Yahoo last was at $40 in 2000, I believe. I dunno if MS would actually go that high, or if Yahoo is just negotiating for the highest possible price.
- kazzyD, on 02/09/2008, -0/+1It's really just a pride issue... All the board members are likely millionaires as it is; money isn't an issue. They're not thinking of what's best for the shareholders (which would be the sale to Microsoft).
- trghpy, on 02/10/2008, -0/+1Look at it from this point. What is there to gain? The merger would only consolidate half their employees out of a job. They would gain no technologies that they don't already have access to, plus they'd essentially be selling out to their rival.
God forbid we think about the economy and the extra jobs that two companies create over a single unified entity.
Yahoo is still in business and won't be going away anytime soon. - noahsawyer, on 02/10/2008, -0/+1http://ap.google.com/article/ALeqM5g9cE_gI-aemyNxZ ...
- trghpy, on 02/10/2008, -0/+1I'm glad Yahoo's board isn't in it for the money.
- cledet, on 02/09/2008, -2/+2I'm relieved that Flickr isn't going to be called "Microsoft Flickr Live Photo Gallery".
