- cyberprashant, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2What's wierd is that a billion-dollar enterprise like google that owns blogger, can't afford hardware that failing and causing blogger outages?
Something doesn't make sense....you never see google outages? - WaterDragon, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2HA HA HA
Fsck Google. Digg is where it's at!
We are not associated with any big corporations, so we are not part of the corrupt corporatocracy pigs!
Let google use our independent servers, if they wanna be cool! - littleidiot, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2"Wake up people, only bloggers read blogs..... And deep down they're only interested in their own."
I'd have to disagree with this statement. I'm not a huge blog fan either, but it seems like half the stories posted on Digg are from someone's blog, and we all read and digg them... - pcgeek101, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Yeah it's back up now, but I was having problems earlier tonight
- nymphetamine, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1mine is fine too.
- ahmerhussain, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Dude, it's free.
If you want a real blog software use ***** Wordpress. - elroy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1>
Dude, 90% of the time it's some dude's "blog" linking to a story elsewhere. The dude submits a digg article linking to his own "blog". MAYBE YOU CAN SUBSCRIBE TO THE RSS FEED WHILE YOU'RE THERE. THEN YOU CAN HAVE YOUR PAGER BEEP YOU WHEN HE MAKES A NEW POST!
I hate it. This ***** needs to go the way of webrings and the term "cyberspace". - cherrybomb, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Blogger's down? It's like 2001 all over again...
- battybattybatt, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1LAdies, the blogger.com has been screwed up since at least the last server "upgrade" on March 25th. And there is NO mention of it nor the complaints in support group (og whcih there is never anyone running blogger visiting).
LOTS of ftp problems. - battybattybatt, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Wordpress is free, most of us that have blogs also have our own sites, and if Wordpress was down, we'd be just as pissed.
BEsides, wordpress can password protect specific blogs, Blogger Pro cant even do that. - fuxxtor, on 10/12/2007, -3/+4Oh my God, Blogger is down? How will the world know what I had for dinner? Maybe everyone will forget me...
- mickeyherman, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1The problem is that my podcast is hosted on blogger, and now no one can update.
- eyesx, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Back up your Blogger blog. Just in case...
http://pchere.blogspot.com/2005/11/back-up-your-blogger-blog.html - lukas88, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3I cant wait till the blog fad is over. expressing yourself is great but thinking that people actually read it is something is dumb. Also, I just hate the word blog, its so 2005
- hipnado, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1well, at least when blogger went down the percentage of splogs also dramatically dropped.
- vagrantradio, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Glad I switched to Wordpress.
- jtray, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I have had no problem reaching My Blog's URL nor posting for that matter. Hmmm.......
- timewarrior, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1inaccurate
- neene, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0the combination of a faulty service AND no culpability to the users is a disastrous one
there is a forum
(which, btw, should be off site to be effective)
USE IT to keep us updated
it will go a long way towards good will
and it really is only common courtesy
(free service or not)
to let your users know when there is an issue
think of all the people's time that you are wasting
it's 2006
we all know equipment goes down
and that databases need to be repaired
we would just like to know that it is going on
and to know when it is safe to resume posting
you are not going to lose users by posting problems
but you will by making their lives a living hell if you don't - eyesx, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1All Blogger outages are mentioned on http://status.blogger.com/ - but that is also down now.
- 101u4bw, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0The Blogger start page is working. You can create posts, you can edit old posts, you just can't get to ANYTHING with *blogspot* where the files are actually hosted. My blog is a podcast feed, which as a result of NO ONE BEING ABLE TO REACH IT has fallen in rank. Irritating to say the least. And I have no way of telling my audience its NOT MY FAULT!
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Yeah, been down for 4 hours now dammit...
- burke, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0oh well, all the cool kids are using wordpress anyway. Or should I say, 'ne-way'. Oh wait, nope, blogger's down.
- moltek, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0ahh.. that's what it is... I was like freaking out...
- CheeryM, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0The most frustrating part is that there is no way to get status updates. I'm not sure how long it's been down tonight, but at least an hour now. The other day was nearly that long. And they just don't say a word about it.
- chazz871, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I guess i picked a bad day to start a new blog on blogger.com. It must be pretty serious to be down this long.
- deralaand, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Blogger down= this sucks! And all this in plain un-broken english from a mid-western boy! Blogger has had more problems than I can count, 1234...
Well...whatever...they'll get to it when they get to it.
"D" - ham_man, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Froogle hasn't been working for me either...
- TrumpetMan258, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I wondered what was going on. Well, darn. That sucks.
- Bokista, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I too had the problem where the feedburner for my podcast pointed to the blogspot page. The biggest problem is that iTunes removes podcast feeds from their directory that aren't working. So that sucks hard.
- tawker, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Ok, I'm moving over to WordPress pretty fast, this is sad.
Well, my political blog gets 80 unique visitors a day, so I gess it can't be that bad. - CommodoreZBT, on 10/10/2007, -0/+0Aug. 22nd 2007 - Another HUGE blogger outage - Ask the Admin is on top of it, they're using their Wordpress account to let the blogging world know what the status is - stay up to the second at http://asktheadmin.wordpress.com/2007/08/22/great-blogger-outage-of-2007-asktheadmin-is-down-%e2%80%93-so-you-are-probably-not-reading-this/ . Definitely a big help considering all of Blogger's status sites are hosted by Blogger. A Catch-22 if you ask me
- midorigin, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I use Blogger with my own FTP webspace, and haven't noticed any problems at all.
- cyberprashant, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Use b2evolution - I host my own blog off of my DSL Web server linux (mandake 2005LE) box.
- optikburn, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0wow.. i had Lobster for lunch, and I couldn't let the world know because blogger is down.. hehehe..
- fishymusic1, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0my readers were complaining...but now it seems to be fixed
- elroy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0okay, digg removed my commented post. i was replying to this post:
*** "Wake up people, only bloggers read blogs..... And deep down they're only interested in their own."
I'd have to disagree with this statement. I'm not a huge blog fan either, but it seems like half the stories posted on Digg are from someone's blog, and we all read and digg them... *** - rc_collins, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Why dont you dumb asses just get some real hosting and start your own real website. Then you can have your blogs and whatever else you want. But I guess the fact that your pissed that a free service is down says it all. dolts
- benabbey, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0man... Google better get its act together! I currently hold 1 share of their stock, and i want the to do well in.... THE FUTURE!
http://digg.com/technology/The_Future_of_Google - RocketMike, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I can log in, and both my blogs are accessible (one's on blogspot), but I can't publish. It stays at 0% forever.
- vinnie40204, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0It really amazes me the number of bloggers that are posting complaints about this story all the while using such poor grammar and spelling. Surely you don't expect anybody to read or respect your opinion if you can't get a simple, well formed sentence on the page. Do you? We can only hope that this event annoys you enough that you'll quit wasting all those electrons. They have feelings to you know.
- applepro, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0I use Blogger to make the RSS feed for my hella dope vulgur podcast:
http://nycomedybling.blogspot.com/
So when it goes down, my entire feed disappears. Meaning you can't download it from itunes either. - Dutchmang, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0Agree with anti-blogging sentiments.... Man this whole fad is gonna look uncomfortable as seeing a picture of a landau roof or 80s "big hair" once it finally craps the sheets. Unfortunately the detritus of the fad is going do hang around forever like all those dead 1997 sites that look like they were drawn with a crayon.
Wake up people, only bloggers read blogs..... And deep down they're only interested in their own. - rectagon, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0Yep, it's been down for me too. Our podcast home page is on blogspot so while we were chatting I couldn't get the page. :). They had some problems a while back too so... here's hoping it's not a sign of the end of the world! http://lelandandjoell.blogspot.com/
- gODfall, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0I forgot what to blog about during the outage.
- bigpeeler, on 10/12/2007, -4/+2Don't mess with the Chinese. Or the Germans.
