- MikalYungHistri, on 06/10/2009, -3/+43Doesn't this make Blindsearch the best?
- ryanonfire, on 06/10/2009, -0/+33Some douche is gaming the system, I've removed the ability to see the results until I sort this out. Meanwhile you can still have fun playing with blind search. Feel free to blame the douche for ruining it for everybody. Meanwhile, I wouldn’t take this a scientific whats-e-ma-jing, it's just a bit of observational fun. ?
- grape, on 06/09/2009, -4/+33I blame the douche
- fondofMILFs, on 06/10/2009, -7/+35I did it a couple times, and not once did I vote for Google.
- Nephersir7, on 06/10/2009, -0/+25it'd be nice to have a way to see stats. Without it, the whole "vote" concept is pretty useless
- pablocblanco, on 06/10/2009, -2/+27Yeah cause "google" and "yahoo" make you sound like a real aristocrat.
- Darthyoshiboy, on 06/10/2009, -11/+29Google every time for me. Seeing the results from Bing and Yahoo makes me appreciate Google even more.
- svivian, on 06/10/2009, -0/+17The actual URL is http://blindsearch.fejus.com not blindsearch.com as it says at the top of the article - although they did link that domain to the proper URL.
- shadus, on 06/10/2009, -0/+15Honestly, it depends how you search and what you're looking for in the results.
I did about 25 searches based on my normal search patterns and style and came up with google or bing every single time (18 google, 7 bing). My wife did a few and she picked yahoo almost every time (one bing) even though she typically uses google.
(when I say picked I mean 'selected which one returned the best results') - Jektal, on 06/10/2009, -0/+15My first search through BlindSearch - a Perl question - and I think the best was actually Yahoo.
I'm just going to stop there while my mind is blown. - inactive, on 06/10/2009, -0/+14well twitter my bing!
- jbird32275, on 06/10/2009, -0/+13No, seriously. He's right, I see you making that comment constantly. I usually don't even notice other's screen names but, I sure have noticed yours.
It's getting annoying. I'm extremely interested in pussy and beer (in that order) but I don't write it in every post. - inactive, on 06/10/2009, -2/+158 programming related searches. 4 java and 4 Cobol :)
bing: 4
Google: 2
Yahoo: 2 - sindex, on 06/10/2009, -0/+11But Bing is so Cuil!
- Jhorra, on 06/10/2009, -1/+11He did initially, but someone was gaming the vote, so he took it out until he could figure out a way to stop it.
- SteveMax, on 06/10/2009, -1/+11That's not exactly the point...
- JasonCox, on 06/10/2009, -2/+114 out of 5 for me were Bing, 1 was Google... Poor Yahoo...
- squeeg50, on 06/10/2009, -0/+9The actual Google returns "Did you mean: afghghgjczsdfgs?"
In case you are curious, afghghgjczsdfgs doesn't yield any results either... LOL - Junkyarddawg, on 06/10/2009, -1/+10Natural sciences related queries, 5 out of 5 for google.
- withoutamartyr, on 06/10/2009, -3/+12No it doesn't.
- SupaFlyTNT, on 06/10/2009, -0/+9Why do you always say that your extremely interested in science and programming.......? Just curious; but every thread you post has it.
- diemunkiesdie, on 06/10/2009, -1/+9So...which one is the best?
- inactive, on 06/10/2009, -0/+7That kinda defeats the purpose now doesn't it.
- inactive, on 06/10/2009, -1/+8http://blindsearch.fejus.com/
- DulcetTone, on 06/10/2009, -0/+7I hate Microsoft, but in limited testing on a single theme, I picked Bing every time, and Google would have been my last choice. Not conclusive, but surprising to me. I doubt I'd switch from Google based on the experience.
- rkthoadan, on 06/10/2009, -0/+6If you are extremely interested in Science than you should be extremely interested in this because it's a somewhat scientific way to analyze search engine accuracy and relevancy.
Saying "I can just tell" that Google is better is not scientific. - iarann, on 06/10/2009, -0/+6You also like to say you were on the original Google programming team, which since your profile says you are 24 makes you 10 when you were working on it. Add on to that the fact that having worked for a lot of programming companies may be something to brag about when you are in your late 30s, but when you are 24 just means you can't hold a job down.
- borez, on 06/10/2009, -0/+6Oh good lord it's back.
- Bermygoon, on 06/10/2009, -1/+7I switch my default seach provider every once in a while just to keep life interesting.
- Mistaxe, on 06/10/2009, -1/+7This is one of the funniest observations i've seen on digg and i'm extremely interested in science and programming and worked for the original programming team when digg was launched while i was working for microsoft and google, so i know a lot about digg comments. i don't like to brag but its true i have a lot of insider knowledge and it wasnt difficult to program digg and microsoft at the same time because im extremely interested in science and programming.
By the way, man, I have seen a lot of compulsive liars in my day (aspiring psychologist), and you are right up there with the best. Get over your fantasy man, and go outside, do some hard work, read a book of some sort (nothing related to science and programming, I'd hate to see you build the fantasy further). - Jerrith, on 06/10/2009, -0/+6Bing does that automatically, which I hate. Yahoo and Google don't. So for "Jerrith", Google was the best, with Yahoo close behind, and Bing (which picked "Jerith" as in Jerith Aluminum Fences) was far, far behind. I'm sure that "feature" appeals to some people, but I really dislike it.
- Yazilliclick, on 06/10/2009, -0/+6Why?
- gotroch, on 06/10/2009, -5/+10Google - 3 of 3 for me.
- PaulClayberg, on 06/10/2009, -0/+5I got Yahoo lots of times. Should I hang myself?
- shallot, on 06/10/2009, -0/+5Come on...read the comments here...I believe the guy who wrote this....this is not like MS is advertising it...some guy in his spare time came up with a wonderful idea...
just because he's honest enough to tell it upfront that he works for MS doesn't mean the site is rigged...
douche... - Wesside, on 06/10/2009, -0/+5He's also interested in magic and trolls.
- hmunkey, on 06/10/2009, -0/+5I don't think the results on Google, Bing, Ask, and Yahoo vary too much. I usually never go past the first page anyways. However, Google is within my comfort zone more since I use Gmail and Google Reader. Their UI is also pretty nice.
That being said, Bing does look appealing - something about those nature pictures everywhere makes it look nice. - pw378, on 06/10/2009, -0/+5fyi, I think the result would be more interesting if you had the user select the 'worst' of the 3 result. The worst is usually much easier to pick out than the best.
Just sayin'. - utzig, on 06/10/2009, -0/+4I think whoever created this site definitely has some money-making opportunities selling the results back to Microsoft, Yahoo, and Google. Especially if the results for various user searches could be categorized in some way.
- int19h, on 06/10/2009, -0/+4I searched for topics related to linux, open source and programming. Surprisingly, I picked Yahoo most of the time, and Google only a few times. Great concept.
- tehnico, on 06/10/2009, -2/+6Searched for my name, Google won, then Yahoo, Bing came last..
- davewashere, on 06/10/2009, -0/+4No Cuil?
- HiSirHi, on 06/10/2009, -3/+7Google Wins for me
- fitzfan, on 06/10/2009, -0/+4Interesting life.
- Eastlygod, on 06/10/2009, -0/+3Why is the fact the you're interested in science and programming (just science and programming it seems. Nothing else) relevant to 75% of posts you make? - http://digg.com/users/123bucklemyshoe/history/comm ...
Seriously, you need to broaden your interests... - JoJoDilio, on 06/10/2009, -0/+3http://blindsearch.fejus.com/?q=which+search+engin ...
You tell me :) - jbird32275, on 06/10/2009, -1/+4Did you click on the tweetshirt link? Nice product but, the dude on the site was looking straight through my soul. I might have bought one but, I got creeped out and had to leave.
- shadus, on 06/10/2009, -0/+3Worked fine for me.
- mithrasinvictus, on 06/10/2009, -1/+4The results don't match the results obtained from the search engines directly.
What exactly are we comparing here? -
