- fourcorners, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1If I'm buying branded blank media in store I look for made in japan on the label. It usually means better quality.
TY's are the best, I also like verbatim if its not their cheap stuff (again check where it was manufactured to get a better idea of the quality you're getting). Ritek is next on my list they are good if they like your burner.
TDK is either great or complete crap and checking where they where manufactured doesn't work with these, you just have to get the -R and hope it's the good stuff (avoid tdk +R).
The FAQ these guys put together looks like it was lifted from one of the CD forums, but its always good to pread the word. - cvrefugee, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Fuji +R discs are usually TY-made.
- G-RaZoR, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Using Verbatim 52x CD-R, and Ritek G4 8x DVD-R, not once have I had a coaster. I'd like to try the Yuden if I could have that link to that deal.
- robbie, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0My favorites: Maxell 80 Minute Pro (blue) for solid robust low end, detail and clean immediacy; Maxell Music 80 minute gold for a balanced hight-to-mid-to-bottom and wide sparkle; Fuji 80 Minute Audio for a wetter sound (smoothes out the edges). Memorex Music 80 minutes is very nice, Taiyo Yuden 700 MB are close, the Mitsui and BASF are in there, Sony could be better...
- ChrisB, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0UK users (I know there's not many of us) can get Taiyo Yuden media from http://www.svp.co.uk
- G-RaZoR, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0bootl3gg, can you provide a link? If they are good, then I may pick up a pack... ;)
- Massif, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I always hear godly praising of this "taiyo yuden" brand. It makes me jealous that I've never been able to bask in the presence of these miracles.
I use verbatims for DVD.
I don't care much about CDs but I've used memorex and maxell and I like them both. - slantyeyed, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0nice to know my Verbatim 16x DVD+/-R's are considered 1st class (can't seem to find any other 16x DVD media at retail)
- b00tL3GG, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0never had problem with taiyo yuden. good prices on them as well; just got 200 for $54 shipped.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I only use Taiyo Yuden.
- LR2_, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0What kind of Dual Layer media do you guys use?
- fourcorners, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Oh yeah.. I forgot about Mitsubishi they are hard to find in my area and if I order online I just go with TYs but Mitsubishi is top notch if you can get it.
- Bajunid, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Well U can't go wrong with Mitsubishi....Always perfect burn....and last longer too...
