- NJank, on 10/12/2007, -5/+24yeah, but what year are they from?
- skifreak107, on 10/12/2007, -3/+17It seems i've been deceived!
- Homunculiheaded, on 10/12/2007, -3/+14if you read carefully you'll find that it says "The Black Friday 2005 Ads", so it seems to me that they're from 2005, I could be wrong though you should probably check and get someone else's opinion.
- jasper976, on 10/12/2007, -0/+10my local ace does not have any of these things.
- griz, on 10/12/2007, -2/+11@edge001
Don't bury something just because it doesn't apply to you.
It is still a valid article. - kendawg, on 10/12/2007, -6/+16Hey, did you know those ads were from 2005?
- plarp, on 10/12/2007, -4/+14i had no idea i had no idea!

Black Friday is the term in business to describe the day of the year when sales put their balance sheets into the black. It also describes the horrible shopping day after Thanksgiving
And BTW heres some info on that DVD player:

- UGM2099, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8I'll be at home that day knocking down pins on my Wii.
- idntunknwn, on 10/12/2007, -6/+14Alas, you have been fooled! Those are 2005 ads. In case you didn't know.
- fgsfds, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8@Dugdig: That is NOT Ace's website, it's a black friday price listing site. This is leaked information, not a promo or press release.
Your complaint makes no sense. - djrtitan, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6Free Shimmering 3-Pack Of Driveway Markers....HELL YES
- Goya, on 10/12/2007, -3/+10I think those are from 2005, not 2006. But im not sure.
- p0und, on 10/12/2007, -8/+15hey, not sure if anyone mentioned this already, but those ads are from 2005.
- badave, on 10/12/2007, -2/+7Why, you are all mistaken! Those ads are from the great comstock sale of 1905! All you dastardly doers are 100 years in the wrong! Boy, was that a great black Friday - I was able to get all the coffee tins, mine canaries, and pick axes a strong, supple mining boy ever needed! Never you mind that the canaries had already been used - some things you just have to buy when they're on sale!
- skifreak107, on 10/12/2007, -8/+13I think these ads may be from 2005... just a hunch.
- serpentor, on 10/12/2007, -3/+8Upon a close analysis, it does appear that those ads originate from the 2005 season.
- brentzilla, on 10/12/2007, -4/+8I could be completely misled (inconceivable!) but I'm pretty sure those ads are from 2005.
- Chewy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4They will carry these things specifically for black friday to bring customers in the door. I work for a grocery chain that tried the same thing (they didn't seem to understand that people don't get up at 4 am to go to a grocery store.
- fiorenza, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4Awesome, ads for a sale that's six weeks away. Glad I started my Monday right!
- tosusan, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Hey, we're all getting older.
- LordJezo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3You get a hotel room in a different country just to get deals on Black Friday?
You, sir, are a champion to internet deal hunters everywhere. - xNaquada, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3lol, your comment just started my Monday off right (which will quickly deteriorate thanks to a mid-term). Thanks.
- leighsah, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4From under which rock did you crawl? That is entirely inappropriate language. It is not funny, cute nor anything other than offensive.
- interiot, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5Um, black friday is coming up. There are entire community-driven sites of best-deals, and black friday is one of the best day for those.
- dgp1, on 10/12/2007, -3/+5Hey everybody! I suspect those ads are from 2005!
No need to thank me for making this discovery. - Canthros, on 10/12/2007, -7/+9If you look, I think you'll find that those are ads from 2005.
- Firehunter, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Or the reason that Lowe's begins to get truck loads (53-foot trailers) almost full of Christmas junk (lights, artificial trees, inflatable snowmen, giant snow globes, you get the picture) in mid-august. They also set up the Christmas aisles come Oct 1 (that was last year, this year might have changed to be even earlier). I used to work there as one of the people who unloaded the trucks. We were always forewarned as to when the X-mas stuff was coming.
- Canthros, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3I really can't be bothered with the Black Friday sales. Assuming I don't have to work, I'd really, *really* rather sleep in than hie myself out to a store at o-dark-thirty so that I can struggle with the store's rabid customers, who are all too happy to shove, shout at, slug, and trample me to get at that $50 WidgetCo (R) brand widget that's $100 any other day of the year.
Thanks, but I'll wait a week, pick it up at full price, and spare myself the time and agony. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2wow.
- skifreak107, on 10/12/2007, -7/+9Indeed they are, I had assumed the 3 banners saying "Black Friday 2006" were telling the truth. Alas, they were not.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2N#$%# BLOCKed you.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Funny how everything gets "leaked" these days...
- gn0sc3r3, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Black Friday, oh God, my scheming and planning will have to start now. I consider it Black Friday not only for some of the reasons above, but for all the Black Ink that you have to use to fill out the rebates.
A bit of advice, scan copies of all of your filled out rebate forums and UPC's, observe the date rebates have to be submitted by, and don't go shopping with only enough money to cover the discounted price (in fact bring a little extra, sometimes your lucky to grab something you missed in the ads). - ChronicColonic, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2@wwwdot1jesdotus
Thanks...you can obviously tell I am not in retail. (I chose not to work in retail because I hate working weekends and holidays.) I apprecieate the explanation.
Thanks again. - bosozuku, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Don't count that against him. He's a slickdealer or FW guy. They are a legitimate interweb clan/consumer union type that share information specific to the retail market. He's trying to give you an inside scoop. Why? Because he likes you.
- skibumnh, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3So what? He appears to be a maven, and that's his contribution. Maybe if all of his posts were ads from the same retailer you would have some ground to stand on. I dont see anything wrong with posting standout deals a la slickdeals.net, etc.
- 4Runner, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2@Canthros & pondster:
You guys are missing the point. You don't shop on Black Friday. You buy the items you want couple of days before, then go back to the store on Black Friday, when "sheep" have gone home, for a price match/adjustment. Stores like Circuit City, Best Buy, etc..have 30 days price guarantee. Just go up to the customer service counter, show them your receipt and ask for a price match.
Haven't you guys heard of Anandtech, Fatwallet or Slickdeals hot deals forum? Man, we've been doing our BF shopping this way since the late '90's. Retail's for suckers! - DJcrayon, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Since when did Ace Hardware have these things?
- ccanni1028, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Target has had their Christmas section up since before the end of September. New Year's items will probably be up before Halloween.
- AgentMull, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I'm pretty sure this is for this year. I work for an Ace Hardware Store and none of this stuff was sold last year on Black Friday, so it seems this particular ad is from this year, or bogus. Last year we got some portable DVD players and Home Theater systems for Black Friday, so its not at all improbable that we are selling this stuff this year.
- fupresti, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2The day after Thanksgiving is commonly referred to as Black Friday because it is the time of the year when retail outlets start turning a profit for the year.
- Valleye, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I love Black friday. I enjoy crowd surfing to snag that one mega deal. The humanity makes me laugh and cry at the same time. My GF and are Canadian and we do not really have a Black Friday. We enjoy people watching too. Last year it was the Dora TV and DVD bundle for the price of the TV alone. LOL
We stay the night at a hotel Thursday night (hotel sex rocks) to get up for the first deal, usually around 6am. Yes I know that we negate are our price advantage by paying for a hotel but like I stated it is not just the deals, it is the people that make enjoyable for me. Plus we just like to shop. -
