- snapple112, on 04/22/2008, -4/+98Well what do you know Comcast, here you are again! You must feel proud to be on top of this list too!
- djbon2112, on 04/22/2008, -4/+87This isn't the RIAA's fault, thought I dugg you. It's lazy, cheap ISPs. Think about it: by throttling their bandwidth, they don't have to upgrade their systems to keep up with the growing demand. It's so obvious a 6-year-old could see it. And it's downright pathetic.
- MavRevMatt, on 04/22/2008, -2/+61The article and its comments in sumary...
***** Comcast, Cogeco, Emirates Internet, Cablevision, Brasil Telecom Santa Catarina, TM Net, BellSouth, Tedata, Tiscali, AOL. - inactive, on 04/22/2008, -9/+55Verizon not on the list FTW!
- SillyDigger, on 04/22/2008, -0/+40Help azureus/vuze collect more data on these ISPs.

- KMartSheriff, on 04/22/2008, -4/+24ASCII art will never get old. ***** dugg.
- thenumber8, on 04/22/2008, -2/+19no. Pirates, FTMFW! arrrgh!
- miket, on 04/22/2008, -0/+13they dont have to throttle, their service never works long enough to create a problem for bandwidth usage.
- Falldog, on 04/22/2008, -2/+15Impossible, Comcast already said that the don't and everyone believe them.
- s4g4n, on 04/22/2008, -0/+13I'm surprised Time Warner's Road Runner internet cable isn't on the list. They have to be bad I just know it!
- alz0rz, on 04/22/2008, -0/+12sweet no Verizon ;)
- Psythik, on 04/22/2008, -2/+14AOL? People actually use BitTorrent on dial-up!?
- bartofdahammer, on 04/22/2008, -0/+11add to that, ***** Bell Canada
- jgtg32a, on 04/22/2008, -1/+11Seeing that the first post is stupid I don't mind hijacking.
Anyone good TCP/IP details?
Would it be possible to use some of the flags that aren't normally used to send some sort of authentication message to authenticate RST messages.
For example
After a connection is made both parties create a public key pair, the flag/unused spaces would have a message that is signed, and this would be verified on the other side so that fake RST could be ignored. - euvirtual, on 04/22/2008, -0/+10How about not selling 1.5MB/s if you can't handle it?
- Protoss, on 04/22/2008, -0/+9I think he'd know...He's a sheriff!
- Vorin, on 04/22/2008, -1/+10i think you were going for "Mein Führer."
- Duderama, on 04/22/2008, -1/+10And so what have we learned from this ordeal, the internet went away, it came back. But for how long we do not know. We cannot take the internet for granted any longer. We as a country must stop over logging...on. We must use the internet only when we need it. It's easy for us to just thing we can use up all the internet we want, but if we don't treat the internet with the RRRRRESPECT that it deserves it could one day be gone forever. So let us learn to live with the internet, not for it. No more browsing for no apparent reason, no more mindlessly surfing on our laptops while watching television.
And finally, we must learn to only use the internet for porn twice a day, max. - isntreal, on 04/22/2008, -0/+9again?
- ChiffX, on 04/22/2008, -3/+11Someone's going to be getting an earful tomorrow.
- lovestospooge, on 04/22/2008, -0/+8Except I'm paying $50 every ***** month
- KMartSheriff, on 04/22/2008, -2/+10Whatever you say mein furor.
- snapple112, on 04/22/2008, -1/+9Comcast also "said" they were "working" with the BitTorrent industry to help improve the way bandwidth was used. Another flaw.
- snapple112, on 04/22/2008, -1/+9Stress the, ***** Comcast!
- Khast, on 04/22/2008, -3/+11Welcome to the new age of P2P. ISPs are now throttling the connections. It will only be a matter of time before their system is cracked wide open, and the P2P will flow freely once again.
- AzureRise, on 04/22/2008, -0/+8I have Comcrap and have been considering getting Verizon Fios. I think I'll definately be switching after seeing this.
- pigfister, on 04/22/2008, -1/+8The BPI Are: SONY, UNIVERSAL, WARNER GROUP, EMI.
The RIAA Soundexchange Are: SONY, UNIVERSAL, WARNER GROUP, EMI.
The IFPI Are: The same anti consumer lot as listed above!
The MPAA Are: SONY, UNIVERSAL, WARNER GROUP, DISNEY, PARAMOUNT, FOX. - thinman1189, on 04/22/2008, -2/+9I hate having Cablevision. Mostly their ***** annoying ads, but this sucks too.
- darkamster07, on 04/22/2008, -0/+7i had no idea AOL still existed
- RobbyDigital, on 04/22/2008, -0/+7That's what she said.
- jlewicki, on 04/22/2008, -1/+8nope, check the pdf for the bigger list. it's #39 with 11.9% reset.
- compgeek, on 04/22/2008, -3/+9AH ***** I'm on Cogeco god dammit
- dinostabOMG, on 04/22/2008, -0/+6I made the switch. There are a few drawbacks, like idiotic router management software and a less-responsive UI in the cable box, but overall the core service is better.
- calgone, on 04/22/2008, -0/+6Although they are all owned by the same parent company, Road Runner/Time Warner has a totally different infrastructure than AOL so in this case I'd say no.
- RIPtechtv, on 04/22/2008, -2/+7Would AOHell include Roadrunner?
- WildTang3nt, on 04/22/2008, -0/+5I used to get terrible speeds on Cogeco until I started using packet header encryption. Now my torrents are fast, and I can seed as fast as my upload cap will allow. ***** you, Cogeco. This shouldn't be necessary.
- TheTOH, on 04/22/2008, -0/+5He didn't ask a question, he made a statement.
- crichton101, on 04/22/2008, -2/+7Sure do and it would be really nice if the ISP's would stop pulling this crap so we wouldn't have to anymore.
- inactive, on 04/22/2008, -0/+5Your wish is my command.
- GliTCH82, on 04/22/2008, -0/+5Not only that, but it's obvious that they're going to go under when services like FIOS at 20 Mb / 5 Mb for $50 a month, unthrottled, pick up the slack. Then when Verizon's on top and Comcast is long gone they're gonna do the same exact ***** Comcast was doing.
- seraph582, on 04/22/2008, -1/+5i dont know why, but it was actually funny this time around
- sporg, on 04/22/2008, -0/+4I don't need a study like this to tell me my isp throttles my torrents. I can plainly see the kb/s drop significantly when I leave torrents on for the long term. It seems to spike back up sharply for a time after I change my IP.
Speaking of which I noticed that my isp switched me to a static IP based on my mac address awhile ago. Which is funny considering that they do not offer static IPs to residential customers unless you pay extra but I never paid nor asked for it. I have to use a mac spoofer to change my IP now. Anyone know of possible reasons why they would switch me specifically to static without telling me? I happen to know that other customers nearby don't have the same thing going on.
Oh I almost forgot, Hi NSA! - fuhlavaflave, on 04/22/2008, -0/+4(monotonous hispanic beat) EYYYYYEEE-OOHHHHHH...DIGITAL CABLE!!!! (monotonous hispanic beat)
When that commercial airs, I am praying for death for the eternity it is on. - Wolf04, on 04/22/2008, -1/+5What about Canadian ISPs? I heard Rogers may be doing it. Anyone in the Toronto area have a good recommendation for a good ISP? Last month I just went over 60 GB of bandwidth and they sent us a letter. Apparently, from June, Rogers will put a cap on bandwidth and they will charge extra if you go over.
- smotpoker1, on 04/22/2008, -1/+5Somebody get me a gibberish translator. He might have something important to say?
- Vorin, on 04/22/2008, -1/+5Gesundheit!
- arjung, on 04/22/2008, -1/+4advertise exactly what you can offer. that is, the potential to peak at 1.5mbits, but that the user should only expect 100kbits or whatever it is.
- inactive, on 04/22/2008, -0/+3Yeah, like banging your mom! Ewww, burn! I'm awesome...etc.
