- cubicledrone, on 03/04/2009, -2/+3So basically a bunch of people gather to try and be cooler than everyone else? People have money for this?
- ihavebeenseen, on 03/04/2009, -1/+2Digg needs to do a day party for the Music portion of SxSW. For god's sake Rachel Ray has one. Come On Digg.
- goeric, on 03/04/2009, -1/+2Was there last year competing in the 2008 DirecTV CGS Combine and it was a lot of fun.
- bigfatphony19, on 03/04/2009, -0/+1Too bad Diggnation live is 21 and up. Kind of sucks that I can't go when they're an hour from where I live :/
- ReligionKills, on 03/07/2009, -0/+1Don't try to pull that ***** in Williamson county though. lol
- spyd3rweb, on 03/04/2009, -1/+2Can there be a NSFW festival?
- fsufanizzle, on 03/04/2009, -0/+1I'd love to check this out and Austin City Limits, perhaps a road trip for another day, along with Coachella. I'll make due with Bonnaroo I suppose!
- mlvassallo, on 03/04/2009, -1/+2Oh great... tourists.
- bigfatphony19, on 03/04/2009, -0/+1Does anyone have information on free shows and events? I'm thinking about checking it out but I can't afford a badge
- emilychap, on 03/04/2009, -2/+3i can't wait! yay.. and the republic tigers are playing the digg meetup. so good!
- RolanNorth, on 03/05/2009, -0/+1Yeah, there are over 1200 live music shows, film presentations and an interactive business side. The prices are extreamly high because regular consumers do not really go. The bands who play are mostly unknown and those who pay for music badges are usually scouts. The film is filled with movie buffs and directors and tons of people who work for the film industry. Same as the interactive just founders of websites and representatives of gigantic companies. The "fan" is almost non-existent at south by, those who attend go to find links and possible ways to turn a better profit.
- ReligionKills, on 03/07/2009, -0/+1Come on over! (from Austin)
- RolanNorth, on 03/04/2009, -0/+1Yeah, I've heard from some of my friends that there are some ads on the radio about the new ticket for < an ounce but I've looked it up and can't find anything about it.
- pathouston22, on 03/04/2009, -0/+1Well that's your fault for going to Texas Tech. Lubbock is well known for being a ***** hole.
I've been to the 4 major cities in Texas, Austin is certainly the best. Probably though because it has the least people, Dallas and Houston are crowded *****. - p0op, on 03/05/2009, -0/+1I hate how crowded Austin gets with tourist during SXSW. IH-35 backed up for miles...
- RolanNorth, on 03/04/2009, -0/+1True that, I can't get into the interactive tradeshow, just music.
- RolanNorth, on 03/04/2009, -0/+1stubbs is an all ages venue
- RolanNorth, on 03/04/2009, -0/+1Oh, never mind, its <4 ounces and if you are non-violent the cop has the option to ticket you, only in Travis county (Austin)
- bigfatphony19, on 03/04/2009, -0/+1Nice, thanks :)
- Frosty122, on 03/05/2009, -0/+1it's spread all over the city, it's not in one location.....
- kelliillek, on 03/04/2009, -1/+2You absolutely DO NOT need a badge! You can check out the Austin Chronicle's website, which will list a pretty good portion of unofficial parties, or www.do512.com. OR. . . a lot of bands are playing shows outside of their official timeslot (we're playing 6, for example). I would find that band's myspace or website, and they should have it listed. Most of the time though, you can just drift through with no plans, and still find something cool to do, as some of the parties and shows will be by word of mouth. . .which are the most fun, because you can avoid the touristy types trying to get into Stubbs.
- Stephenishere, on 03/04/2009, -2/+2Austin is by far the greatest city in Texas. :) take it from me, I lived there for 6 years before moving to ***** hole called lubbock for school. Oh and from what I have heard, marijuana is now just a ticket offense(not perfect, but slowly getting to legalization), no jail time or other retarded *****.
- nico623, on 03/04/2009, -1/+1Too bad most festivals nowadays don't cater to the fan and just try to cram as many people in one area without any regaurd to band line-up's and massive price hikes on everything. It really is sad !
- waleedo, on 03/04/2009, -2/+0wish I could afford ticktes to go!
- inactive, on 03/04/2009, -5/+2heyyyyy i have a big digg too
