- The_Wallbanger, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2When are these sites going to learn that when you spam digg, the comments section will give links to all of your competitors.
- mgreenwald, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2yousendit.com has gotten really slow latley. A lot of my uploads time out.
- Tomato, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1The site says that you have "the option to secure your file with 128-bit encyption"... how is that possible without an SSL certificate? Nothing in the page source indicates any "https" connection either, just a regular form submission.
Either way something just don't feel right... NO DIGG! - racerxyz, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1This may be spam, but it's a good discussion. I'm always looking for something better. +Digg.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I would never use any of these sites for secure material. FTP is still the best, imo.
- dggeek, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Now I know how to kill a digg. Overly praise the submission so people think it's a scam!

If you8 are worried about security, stay wvery very worried with ftp.
But, sftp, on the other hand, you can worry a little less about security. - Guspaz, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1This isn't anything new, I've seen this before. You just need to figure out what the filename of the file upload is and then check the size of that against the reported upload size. Requires a bit of software modding, but not amazing.
Also, this service is uselessly slow. I'm trying to upload a 22MB file from a very fast (100mbit or so?) connection, and I'm getting 12KB/s. This service supports up to 1GB. At that speed it would take 24.3 hours. I don't trust an HTTP upload to work fine for over a DAY with no possibility of a resume. - hax0r, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1sure, I read on the site that it says they won't sell your e-mail address to spammers and that they won't spam you.. but you can't trust spammers, they are scoundrels, have no qualms about lying or doing whatever it takes to make money. What is the catch? why would they provide this site as a free service? bandwidth isn't free, so they must be getting something out of it. It's very fishy that they don't disclose their business model or how they are making a profit on this.

- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1@heathuff: you get emailed a link to the file hosted on their server, not the actual file.
- maverick999, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0http://www.uploadport.com
- Filesender, on 02/27/2009, -0/+0you send it sucks, their service costs tons of money, and you send it makes you sign up for a membership!
http://www.swapitencryptit.com is the best, fastest way to send files, no membership required, and I can choose what I want to pay to send the file! Like come on... - garebo, on 07/28/2008, -0/+0And what about when the file is over 100 mb? Whats the best way to go. Im talking about free services only, dont want to pay.
thanks - n8r0n, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I prefer http://www.yousendit.com/
but I will have to check out http://www.sendover.com/ - skoobisnaxs, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Pando is the way to go dogg. No digg.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I'm willing to be that dessol and lamkamkiu are the same person as the author seeing as how the only stories they've dugg are ones promoting his site.
No digg, stop advertising your site. - jamiemcconnell, on 02/19/2008, -1/+1http://www.2big2send.com
- flaunted, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0yousendit.com has given me nothing but problems the last couple of weeks.
- garebo, on 07/28/2008, -0/+0so is gmail about the fastest way to send files?
- bitweever, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Keep the file online. www.dropsend.com
- Kikkoman, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1I sense this as a big advertisement spam... please don't digg this..
- fleischner, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I prefer dropload.com because it retains a mini address book of e-mail addresses you've sent files to.
- kingmoffa, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0You dont send / recieve files via email. You get an email with a link. Download speed is fast.
- Kickasso, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1
- aweblogs, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0yea..advertising..no digg
plus it's quite slow, i prefer sendspace dot com - poipoipoi, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Barney the Purple Dinosaur is now in the logo design biz i guess...
- Banaticus, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1This can be nice if you're trying to email an executable file to yourself (Gmail won't allow executables in attachments, even zipped up), or a file larger than 10Mb. For instance, daz3d.com is offering Bryce 5.0 free. I downloaded it but can't send it through my Gmail account as it's over 10Mb and it has an executable in it. So I tried a few of these to send it to myself -- they're all about the same, they host the file themselves and send a link to download the file. I'm going to go look for these free ftp sites mentioned above (although no helpful link was given).
- SefGray, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0the 3rd and 4th comments ame me want to puke. Digg abuse.
Flame it! - greenlight2001, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0Blatant Spam. Reported as such.
- naevity, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0the first, 3rd and 4th comments look like they are plugging the website, honestly, the logo is awesome? comeon.
- AToMusK, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0i use sendover.com [max is 2gb] -digg
- freakystyley, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0http://www.dropsend.com has a progress bar. I stopped seeing the point of uploading 1GB files... it just takes freakin' forever.
- minitechnik, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1"A quick note about your privacy: Don't worry: we will not sell your e-mail address, or send you any spam!"
haha, and who says, that they are not tracking what i was uploading ?
is there anywhere said, they don't handle the files personally ? i mean its a "BIG UPLOAD" thing - so it is all about what you are sending.
possibly someone should send a lot of extralarge isos that have nothing in it and are zipped to something like nothing, but make some trouble for zipscanners. a hundred of those should make the server busy :D - senzafine, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0@deenine
you're right...it is just megaupload. a great script but freely available for anyone to use. - goredsox, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0and its still obnoxious using a web browser to upload and send files. and what happens when the hosting bill comes in?
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0ummm-correct me if I'm wrong, but all of these sites are pretty much useless. Theres not an email client out there that allows 1 gig files, why not just use a free ftp client? Otherwise, I would just use gmail and break the file into smaller rar's
- senzafine, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0Email is a horrible way to send large files...no matter how slick the interface is. Especially now with digital cameras. I am going to see if i_do_not_want_high_res_photos_of_your_baby@gmail.com is taken.
no digg for fancy progress meter. - jlchereau, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0Another secure upload site is http://www.velodoc.com + https://www.velodoc.net
1) It is free up to 100MB
2) It is secure (authentication, encryption, signature, audit trail)
3) It is localized (several languages, more to come)
4) They will soon release web gadgets and an Outlook plug-in
5) It is Ajax
6) and it is European! - paulnorth, on 11/04/2007, -1/+0I really like http://www.send6.com as the service is free and their uploading is FAST!
- sgt99999, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0Here is my take: I tried sending three 200 MB files yesterday.
- It took about 2 hours to upload each file and seemed more stable than YouSendIt
- The confirmation email did not have the download link in it
- The sendee did not receive the email; therefore, the effort was wasted
If one decides to use this service, send the file to ones own email address so one gets the download link. The confirmation email said the file is hosted for one week, so it is better to send the download link around yourself. - deb5253, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0If there is anyone out there that can recommend me for GMAIL.....THANKS!!
- nickt0783, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0Have you tried using Couriervault Pay As You Go system to send large files? It means no commitment or subscription and you get great performance on bandwidth, simply upload your files and pay a one-off delivery cost based on the size - Secure, professional service.
www.couriervault.com - Browncjw, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0Just used this one above; www.couriervault.com - never heard of it before. It's good - you have to pay a little bit but you def get what you pay for.
I usually use either yousendit or pando but the uploads are crazy long plus you can only mail a max of like 1GB. Just uploaded 8 files which came to a total of 3.5GB and sent them for about £6. Plus its SSL secure and has no pop-ups.
I'm converted. I'd rather pay a little bit and know my files will upload and send securely.
- potifer, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1The progress bar is pretty cool, but this is like 10x slower than uploading via gmail.
- DavidJBerman, on 10/31/2007, -1/+0Ahh if you want a link here it is for your convenience: http://www.sendtoperson.com/
- DavidJBerman, on 10/31/2007, -1/+0Myself and a friend also made a site that lets you upload large files. For free you can send up to 1 GB per month right now. Paying users can send 2GB files using the website. We're about to release software too that has auto-resume, queuing, automatic zipping etc we just want to make sure every bug is out first before we release it. I invite you to try it to send big files for free using SendToPerson.com, and I welcome your feedback!
- jonchase, on 01/30/2008, -1/+0If you don't think sending big files should be hard, try http://www.SendAlong.com - it's in beta right now and there's a free plan that gives 1GB per month of uploads.
