- Celeron, on 10/12/2007, -1/+16Yes? Celery here.
- gregdigg, on 10/12/2007, -2/+16Black Friday is the day after Thanksgiving. November 24.
- Kujila, on 10/12/2007, -1/+13Yes; Best Buy, like some other retailers, will lose money on a lot of the "Hot items" like the notebook. However, keep in mind the stores will have only limited quantities of that.
So the other 5 billion people in line who didn't get the $375 laptop will maybe then buy a $400 laptop, one of which Best Buy will not lose as much on.
Then, of course, the person may be coursed into buying anti-virus, a printer, a printer-cable, and a wireless router. So in the end, Best Buy made a lot off that single customer.
Rinse hands, repeat; it's the corporate game :) - ThinkBox, on 10/12/2007, -0/+11Well, Mr. Nameless, wanna scan up another copy? :D
- habibbijan, on 10/12/2007, -0/+10For a laptop, sure, as long as you're not spending your time calculating Pi.

These are the early morning "Doorbuster Specials". - Kujila, on 10/12/2007, -1/+8Hmm, I wonder if this list is regional? I work at a (will remain nameless) Best Buy and the list provided to us was significantly different.
- tuxidomasx, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7the 42 inch LCD is only 1366 x 768
dont get it confused with the 42 inch 1080p native LCD by the same company - vekro, on 10/12/2007, -1/+8Nice TV

Way to go there, Best Buy. - JohnD508, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6The links work OK for me.
- nitroskanker, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7"XBox 360 Core System - $299.99"
HOLY CRAP NO WAY! - Kujila, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6For the price, yes, very. A Core Solo, from my understanding (someone correct me if I'm wrong) is a Core Duo chip that had one of its cores fail during factory testing. Intel disables the weak core and sells the Single Core "Duo" chips as the "Solo." Being said, it will boast good battery life, and pretty good processing power.
I mean $379 for a Solo is a real bargain. It will still greatly outperform a lot of other notebooks out there for around that price *COUGH* Celery *COUGH COUGH* - Gundabad, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5I moved into a much larger apartment in mid-September and just couldn't deal with my old 20" TV/VCR, so I wound up buying the Westinghouse 32" LCD from Best Buy for $800. I can vouch for this TV, it's awesome. I do feel pretty sick about missing out on the big black Friday deal. I have been one of the first people in line the past few years at Best Buy, so I know I would have gotten my hands on it for half the price, but eh I guess it is worth the $400 to have an awesome TV to go with my new apartment for the past two months. At least I'll keep telling myself that.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Mission Impossible 3 for only 7.99?? with those kind of savings i will be camping out all night
- tokyopimp, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4That 22" Widescreen Westinghouse PC monitor for 199 looks like a very nice deal. I think that same monitor is on bestbuy.com for 499!
Should I brave the crowds for that? I am still on a CRT and want a widescreen LCD badly. - c0d3b0y, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5is it just me or does that list look really short?
- aeiou, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4"Only Intel would sell a broken CPU... then again, that's what they've been doing since the 386SX."
AMD does the same thing. Lower end chips are often the exact same dye as the more expensive chips, but they had imperfections that didn't allow them to run at the higher speeds, so they sell them as a cheaper part. This is common practice and there is nothing wrong with it.
Not trying to defend intel (I own no intel processors and I'm fine with that), but don't just try to create any argument against a company for the sake of bashing them. - SmartyMcGenius, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4"it's (by far) the busiest day of the year in the US retail industry"
Nice try, but no.
http://www.snopes.com/holidays/thanksgiving/shopping.asp - rocman9, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4And don't forget Bad Boys 2 as well. We all know the holiday season hasn't begun until you find yourself waiting for 8 hours in the freezing night just to get the chance to hoard some Will Smith DVDs for dirt cheap.
I'm so there. - karn, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5Didn't someone just post this, not even a couple hours ago? I think he got flamed for claiming to have the first bestbuy ad's...Trying to find the digg link.
Well at least this guy has a scan, even though it is basically the same info - freestufftimes, on 10/12/2007, -3/+7Yeah, I got trashed for posting the same thing this morning, before this site even had the info.
http://digg.com/tech_deals/Best_Buy_Black_Friday_Doorbuster_items - stalefries, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Could it be that you have */ads/* blocked with Adblock [plus]?
The linked url has ads in it, I wonder why?
/sarcasm - viperman5000, on 10/12/2007, -3/+6Hitch for $2.99 is worth braving the crowds for by itself.
- zerolaw, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3crappy
last year they had seasons of 24 and arrested development for $19.99
only my name is earl at that price this year - jambarama, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4A core solo is NOT a failed duo. A core duo is simply a core solo with two cores (not two chips).
But $379 is a great price for that laptop but not because of the Core Solo. After intel released their Core 2 Duo chip, they've had a firesale on all their old chips--P4s, Pentium Ds, as well as Core Solos and even Core Duos. The Core 2 Duo chips are the fastest out there right now, so no surprise few want anything less. For $379 you get a gig of ram, cd/dvd burner, and - spiffytech, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3@pile- All CPU manufacturers sell "broken" chips. That's how we get different speeds. The manufacturer can't make all of the CPUs the same, microscopic transitors are just too hard to mass-produce well. So, they make a chip, test how fast it can really go, then group the chips by GHz (or lump them into groups based on approx. how many failed transistors there are in each chip).
- AdamWillis, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Sony 2GB Memory Stick PRO Duo - $39.99
I'm in! It will make my PSP and my Digital camera happy too. - nixfu, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2
Not any big deals to me....looks like a REALLY WEAK black friday ad. Certainly nothing that will get me to go to BestBuy early in the morning.
Oh well, maybe CC or CompUSA might have something.
Last year was pretty weak too...I am starting to think retailers are starting to realize that its just not worth it to get a few extra people to come in the store and the deals are not all that great anymore. - Thundercat1971, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Here's a tip folks, and I learned this the hard way...
Unless you NEED a "doorbuster" item, ALL of the other specials are available on the Best Buy web site. So instead of waiting outside in the dark and cold for hours and then having to push past hundred of others, just get up a little early, stay home, and order stuff off of the web site. - eleazar123, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2It's one of the **** ones. 1000:1 contrast ratio :
- brstilson, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I worked at Best Buy, and the ads don't even arrive at the stores until 1 or 2 days before Friday, and even then it's only managers that have access until the morning of the event. If it's coming out this early, it's likely someone in corporate headquarters leaking them.
- Cglass, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2way
- fallenone05, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Hello LCD TV for my PS3!
- jambarama, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2sorry, got cut off.
For $379 you get a gig of ram, and cd/dvd burner; but unfortunately you get and Intel Graphics Card that shares your system RAM (which is bad, not because it sucks ram from your system, but because system RAM is so much slower than video card RAM). Since laptops aren't too upgradeable as far as video cards go, this won't make much of a game playing laptop, but for email and the internet this'll do nicely! - tsupersonic, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Yeah, a Core Solo is the same as a Core Duo with one (single) core. It replaced the Pentium M, and added 667 MHz FSB (to some processors, this particular one is 533 MHz). It is a very good chip, the Core Duo would be better, but for $379, I won't complain. It's also got 1 GB of RAM, good deal.
For all Black Friday listings, go here: (Most ads haven't been released, be patient)
http://bfads.net/ - hexydes, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1If you're confident that this ad is correct, just go buy it today, and on the day of the sale, go have them match the price. You're under 30 days from Black Friday, so assuming the item does go on sale for that one day, you can simply get the price adjusted.
- traverse, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1First, as others have noted, these deals aren't even that great. I remember the ads from two YEARS ago and they were way better than this. I wouldn't even bother getting up that early for these prices.
Hopefully other stores will have good Black Friday sales. I guess it's become somewhat of a tradition of mine, and I'd hate to see all the good deals go away... Nothing like waiting 6 months to finally get your money back! - markingtime, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Not 1080p but pretty good overall.
I might look into a few of these things as well. - AeonTorpor, on 10/12/2007, -4/+5Westinghouse is crap. I have a 17", it's terrible. I have seen the 37" w/ an HD feed, same crap, just more of it.
For the asshats that will complain about substance of the comment, fine. The picture quality puts it in its own category of "screens that magically make whatever you display seem as if it has been severely compressed in a ***** 1970's format and then re-displayed just for the sheer terror of your retinas!". Along w/ the tearing and ghosting, Westinghouse takes the crown away from Oscar the Grouch for Dumpster King. Satisfied? - Grayfox777, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Ah, Black Friday. The only day of the year when stores have fair prices for the consumers.
- EmperorAwesome, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Holy balls that's a sweet TV. Well...there goes my Conroe 6400 rig fund. Pro: 1; Con: 1...Well played, Best Buy.

- JohnboiWaltune, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Or, you could just get a job.
- inactive, on 11/11/2007, -0/+1http://www.mahalo.com/Black_Friday_2007
- OsiVert, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1The core solo laptop is a sweet deal even if it's only 512mb ram, which is what it says on the best buy site. Anyone know how well HP laptops run linux, or that if black friday deals have rebates that you have to send in?
- johngault, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1the ram in the ad title says 1 gig, the pc in the link says 512.
