- airwalkery2k, on 10/10/2007, -0/+31The RIAA doesn't want to admit or let it be known how faulty their evidence is and how their law practice boils down to a shotgun approach.
- accelleron, on 10/10/2007, -1/+7This case is giving the RIAA's victims lots of airtime. Perhaps the smartest thing for them to do would be to settle this one. Perhaps I'm over-estimating the RIAA's lawyers, though.
- johnlandes, on 10/10/2007, -2/+48***** the RIAA
- dorkino, on 10/10/2007, -0/+10There it is.
- daza, on 10/10/2007, -1/+6I usually don't condone messages like that, but with the power that Digg has invested in me (a single 'thumbs up') I will endeavour to digg up anyone who says "***** the RIAA".
- potp, on 10/10/2007, -1/+7and the MPAA for good measure.
- longbow486, on 10/10/2007, -0/+0soon to be MAFIAA

- GARussell, on 10/10/2007, -1/+5Despite its dismissal without prejudice, it seems to me that when a plaintiff covenants not to sue it is admitting that it should not have sued in the first place; and attorney's fees would be reasonable compensation. Interesting that the article points out that the RIAA never allows the defendant to be exonerated. Defendants' attorneys need to do something about that.
- prisoner24601, on 10/10/2007, -2/+16Isn't it class action time yet?
- VeganG, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1So you can enjoy your check for $5. Meh.
- jameskong15, on 10/10/2007, -0/+16The RIAA brought the case in the first place and then got it dismissed. They need to pay for the attorney fees.
- Tabris, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Unfortunately, only in the UK not the US :( (I'm sure other countries do that but the UK is the only one I know for sure)
- countdz, on 10/10/2007, -8/+1I know this is so cliche' but ***** THE RIAA!! Hey it rhymed.
- Kinjiru, on 10/10/2007, -2/+18the American Justice system is *****.. plain and simple..
in no way shape or form should they ever be able to be NOT liable for such costs + punitive damages..... beyond pathetic...- archimago42, on 10/10/2007, -2/+3But, but, how could the corporations afford to attack individuals with little thought or consequence??
- eclectro, on 10/10/2007, -1/+2She needs to get a judgement. Then it really is not much of a battle. I'm sure that there are plenty of assets she could lay her hands on.
- xSEED, on 10/10/2007, -0/+10nope RIAA engaged in this *****, they have to pay when they lose
- TillDerToder, on 10/10/2007, -8/+0@prisoner24601:
My thoughts exactly. - davidjay247, on 10/10/2007, -1/+9"The RIAA hopes that its combination of a dismissal without prejudice (which allows the case to be refiled in the future) and a covenant not to sue is enough to give defendants peace of mind that they will not be targeted again, but does not require the RIAA to foot the legal bills for those wrongfully targeted."
Sounds like they're pulling all kinds of ***** to avoid paying back legal fees. - Pinhedd, on 10/10/2007, -0/+15They should have to pay every last penny when they screw up like this.
- DeFex, on 10/10/2007, -0/+12what do you call a bus load of dead lawyers on the bottom of the lake
- billbacon, on 10/10/2007, -0/+12A good start?
- longbow486, on 10/10/2007, -0/+0good start if they are still alive, great if they die before the bus hits the bottom
- psykiv, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4An impossibility. There is no way you can ever kill a lawyer.
- corvairkid, on 10/10/2007, -1/+5It's a good start but only if you have the proper state issued disposal permit. Otherwise, it may fall under either illegal dumping of toxic waste into a freshwater marine ecosystem or introducing a foreign species of bottom sucking shark.
- billbacon, on 10/10/2007, -0/+12A good start?
- readerofbooks, on 10/10/2007, -1/+1guys instead of arbitrarily complaining on digg about the RIAA and cussing them out contact this lawyers through his blogg and just encorage him and give him support, this guy ray beckerman is going to take on the RIAA in a lawsuit he says he refuses to settle beforehand
http://recordingindustryvspeople.blogspot.com/ - FunkyLlama, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2OBJECTION!
- szovegek, on 10/10/2007, -2/+0dismissal without prejudice
http://www.szovegek.com/szovegek/george-strait/index.php - jofukia, on 10/10/2007, -1/+1How about 750 dollars for each song... I mean each minute of the defendant's life that the RIAA stole. And this is real theft as time cannot be copied.
- CoheednCambria, on 10/10/2007, -1/+2I doubt if the defendants or their lawyers will see any of the attorneys fees from the RIAA. Unless the defendant has the resources to keep suing them over and over to collect the fees.
- bravo369, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2Will the RIAA be liable for attorney fees for having to sue them to get the original fees? Maybe this is what RIAA is doing. They are so bitter and such sore losers that they want to drag it out, make it cost even more just so the defendant can get the original attorney fees. Everyone hates the RIAA but they should at least man up and play by the rules. If you want to run to court and sue all these people then admit when you lost a case.
- hexydes, on 10/10/2007, -2/+3Why are people still buying music?!
FOR THE LOVE OF GOD, STOP BUYING MUSIC- Tabris, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2And what...pirate everything? I have a link that I can't find now that you would enter an artist and it would tell you if they were on an RIAA label. Can't find it anymore, but yeah just buy indie, there are plenty of mainstream ones now that made their own label and produce for other bands and crap. Pirating everything does not solve anything.
- Speed, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1I think you mean this
http://www.riaaradar.com/ - IADTatami, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1No, pirating doesn't solve anything. in fact, you're liable to share some of that music with your friends, who might buy the album- which would actually HELP the RIAA.
If you do pirate music, keep your RIAA stuff to yourself
