- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I bought my 20" core duo iMac from the refurb store, and it's a great deal. I have had not a single problem with the machine. Not only is it a huge savings, but you know the computer has had an additional once-over from the manufacturer. And, they still qualify for AppleCare...
- RadiantBeing, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Much of the savings will get eaten up by the tax you have to pay when ordering off Apple's website.
- andrelix, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I have purchased a few items from the refurb site and there are no problems, I have also purchased 100's (yes 100's) of computers from Dell's refurb site. In general they are fixed if they had problems or they are just returns that can not be sold as new. I am planning on picking one up but everything went pretty quick besides the black ones. Plus in a week or two they will be better availability...
- svidrod, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1why would you want to spend money on a refurbished when it seems every week there is a new problem with them. maybe it is just people sensationalizing minor issues, but it seems there is a lot of quality control problems
- billyliberty, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Ships in 30 business days!
Looks like they're starting to address that mountain of Macbooks from all of the recent returns for minor to major quality control issues. - mattwynne, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Does anyone know whether we can find out whether these will be with revision D motherboards? 1-800-MY-APPLE say they don't know.
- andrelix, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1ok, everything is back in stock, including iMac's and the full line of macbooks and macbook pro's
- andrelix, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1FWIW, apple is completely sold out of the macbooks now but it appears that they have lowered the price on the macbook pro's. I am wondering if with the lowering of the price if they are planning on releasing the macbook pro 17" on refurb soon???
- t3rmin, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Refurbs rock. Like an earlier comment says, those machines have an additional once-over. I figure now that Apple has had time to discover all the little quirks (especially with these first generation products), they've got them fixed on the refurbs already without you having to mess with the buy-return cycle yourself.
- andrelix, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1apparently amazon has the basic macbook for $999 after rebate if you are worried about refurbs...
- andrelix, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1they are back in stock with 2 Ghz models (both black and white) with a 7 to 10 day delivery time. My iMac that just came yesterday said 7-10 day delivery and it showed up in 5 day! Seriously debating the issue, but conroe is so close...
- andrelix, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I just received my iMac today that I purchased on refurb, everything is perfect and working great. This is quite a nice machine and besides the fact that you get this in a brown box instead of the racey black box, everything else is perfect, including the packaging and attention to detail that Apple provides to cables and the likes. I can't wait until they get some more macbooks in, I am going to pick up a 2 ghz...
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0when i was in the market for my iMac, i carefully priced every discount available, from the student discount to the amazon rebate, and the refurb was definately the best deal because i got a 20" core duo WITH 3 year applecare for less than the 20" goes for by itself..and if something were to go wrong due to it bing "someone else's lemon", applecare takes care of it.
as far as tax...besides amazon, where can you not get charged tax? - antron, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Is it really worth a $150 markdown for someone else's lemon?
$150 is not that much of a savings considering the risk.
I mean you could probably find a $150 discount on a MacBook
somewhere and get a brand new machine instead. - aspirehigher, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0sweet!!!
