- Zoltak, on 07/23/2008, -0/+13I wonder what would happen if someone were to post a video of the first steps of their child with copyrighted music in the background and not placed intentionally?
This copyright stuff is starting to get ridiculous and there should be a bit more fair use. - crxvfr, on 07/23/2008, -0/+7Yeah, I downloaded that vid and have been selling pirated copies of Princes song ever since. It was so easy and the quality of the music ripped from the vid id amazing. It sounds like an AM radio going under a bridge. Thanks Universal for giving me the chance to become independently wealthy by ripping partial songs of terrible quality! Who would have thunk? ...and if anybody asks, I have never, nor will I ever danced or listen to this song. It seems to be illegal and I wouldn't want to end up in court like this woman did.
- AmyVernon, on 07/23/2008, -0/+4the whole fair-use issue is interesting. lots of news websites are afraid to use music in vids b/c of the copywrite issues...
- geoken, on 07/23/2008, -0/+3The lure of ripping youTube videos isn't restricted to the horrible sound quality. Hearing family members, pets, airplanes and lawnmowers in the background also enhances the listening experience.
I heard a favorite song on the radio the other day and all I could think was how much better it would be if the song itself was drowned out by the obnoxious laughing of an offscreen relative. - crxvfr, on 07/23/2008, -0/+2There should be a boycott.
