- enigmaneo, on 03/14/2008, -2/+190Hopefully she won't settle, and does something for the greater good of the people.
- istudioweb, on 03/14/2008, -2/+147Finally someone wants to bite off a piece of RIAA's ass...
- Deist4Life, on 03/14/2008, -0/+139Down with the RIAA. They are killing music!
- eightfivezero, on 03/14/2008, -9/+144***** THE RIAA!
- jstrully, on 03/14/2008, -2/+135Or the RIAA could just settle with Andersen, and we won't know *****...
- lithera, on 03/14/2008, -1/+74Tomorrows headline:
Tanya Andersen died in a accident under suspicious circumstances. - diggdat, on 03/14/2008, -0/+67I can hear the sound of their shredders from here...
- shaka999, on 03/14/2008, -0/+46It would be in the RIAA's interest, Andersen's interest, but not in everyone else's interest. I might not blame her if she took the money but I would applaud her if she didn't.
- KyleRayner, on 03/14/2008, -5/+50"the group has no choice but to stand and face the music"
I really wish the writers who pen horrible puns like this would go on a permenant strike. - uselessexpert, on 03/14/2008, -1/+46RIAA: "Here's $5 million for your troubles, and we settle out of court."
Tanya Andersen: "WOW....Ok....What law suit were we talking about?"....
Money talks and ***** walks! Let's just hope she doesn't get bought out, and the RIAA dirty laundry gets hung to dry so we can all see it! - revjustin2, on 03/14/2008, -3/+40No. Fred Durst killed music.
- hexydes, on 03/14/2008, -2/+35And if she didn't download "illegally", well, oops, too bad! Mistakes happen. All it takes is $50,000 in legal fees and a year or two of your life to clear up that little mistake.
Love,
The RIAA - RealmDown, on 03/14/2008, -0/+29As aesthetically pleasing as that sounds, I rather see someone gnaw on the head and neck.
- gameyharp, on 03/14/2008, -0/+24There should be a dummy test for people to make digg accounts.
- displaced1, on 03/14/2008, -3/+27He just keeps ROLLIN ROLLIN ROLLIN ROLLIN ROLLIN
- theaceoffire, on 03/14/2008, -1/+24WHAT?
- naterpoke, on 03/14/2008, -7/+28The RIAA came and took my baby away.
baby == inalienable rights - badqat, on 03/14/2008, -1/+21And most would agree that settlement is in their best interests. And hers. If they offer a boatload of cash, I don't think anyone could blame her for settling.
- TheSabre, on 03/14/2008, -0/+20A settlement would be horrible. If RIAA settles for a boatload of cash, how do you think they are going to recoup their losses? By filing more fradulent litigation and causing 80-year-olds to settle for $1,000 per song that they allegedly downloaded. Andersen needs to push this forward.
- inactive, on 03/14/2008, -0/+20if i were her i would refuse any settlement - she has a rare opportunity to be a true heroine and cause irreparable harm to the riaa - my goal if i were her is to cause them to go bankrupt or put them out of business - i would want them begging for mercy - la belle dame sans merci -
- ninxmz, on 03/14/2008, -2/+22KEEP ROLLIN ROLLIN ROLLIN ROLLIN ROLLIN
- badqat, on 03/14/2008, -0/+20Wow...one can only hope they'd willfully destroy evidence...that'll make the judge (and everyone who hates the RIAA) very happy!
- Amplix, on 03/14/2008, -1/+20BREATHE IN THEN BREATHE OUT - HANDS UP NOW HANDS DOWN
- TheKingInYellow, on 03/14/2008, -2/+21BACK UP BACK UP, TELL ME WHAT YOU'RE GONNA DO NOW?
- iidestined, on 03/14/2008, -0/+19I want to see the RIAA shamed in public so they will lose their backers
- coyote1284, on 03/14/2008, -0/+18Clear Channel killed music.
- hexydes, on 03/14/2008, -1/+18Under normal circumstances, I'd think it terrible for you to make a joke about something like that, but to be quite honest...I'm not sure if you were joking.
I mean, really...would you put it past them? These are the same people that will sue 13 year olds in a court of law in order to uphold their dying business model. It's clear that anyone with any morals exited their organization decades ago (if one ever worked there to begin with). - 5thWall, on 03/14/2008, -0/+16I wonder if this could lead to a class action against the RIAA.
- displaced1, on 03/14/2008, -2/+18I always thought it was the music companies making albums with 1 good song and 14 terrible ones I wouldn't let a deaf man hear.
- unionaire, on 03/14/2008, -1/+16Dugg for support!
Wish I could digg it more! - evilregis, on 03/14/2008, -2/+17Just think of all the music you could download if you didn't have to to go work every day!
- RealmDown, on 03/14/2008, -11/+25RIAA -- music terroists
- Nayamina, on 03/14/2008, -0/+14She has them by the balls and has the chance to expose the entirety of their underhanded practices, and I can only hope she moves on it.
She's been fighting for over 2 years. Hell they even went after her daughter! If I were her I'd take those balls she has in a vice, rip them off, and make a show of it, if not for trying to blemish my reputation, then for going after my kids!
I just hope she does the right thing for the sake of the rest of us. - bdbr, on 03/14/2008, -0/+14The RIAA isn't all the music companies, just the ones making albums with 1 good song and 14 terrible ones I wouldn't let a deaf man hear.
- Cannon49, on 03/14/2008, -3/+17Only 1 "***** THE RIAA" comment allowed per story. Anymore and you make yourself look like a douche.
- TheSabre, on 03/14/2008, -0/+14Someone needs to make a website where RIAA can settle online...
- ronaldinho, on 03/14/2008, -0/+13Way to take it to the RIAA, I can't wait to see them getting embarrassed. Put it this way: if RIAA can't settle, then Andersen WILL win. 1) Looks like she's got a good lawyer who knows precisely what buttons to push, and 2) the RIAA can't afford to release any more of their information. Andersen got them on the ropes with all those privacy and racketeering charges. I think she will settle (too much money), but if she doesn't, she still has a very very winnable case that will make all of us on Digg happy.
- theaceoffire, on 03/14/2008, -0/+13I think he was trying to be funny, at which point a humor test might be appropriate as well.
- nbyn, on 03/14/2008, -0/+13It would be wonderful if everyone who gets the threatening letter from the RIAA would respond with a threatening letter of their own, promising not to sue the RIAA for malicious prosecution if the RIAA would agree to a settlement.
- rand0mm0nkey, on 03/14/2008, -2/+14There is nothing wrong with enjoying an artist. Calm down. It is even okay to give the artist some money for their work. It is not okay to pay these fat, 3-piece suited, cigar-smoking businessmen money for something they dont even understand. My hat is off to bands like Radiohead and NIN for finding new ways to distribute to fans without needing the RIAA. They are paving the way for everyone else. I gave Trent the first money I have spent on an album for a long, long time.
- OrangeCrush, on 03/14/2008, -0/+12The RIAA is faced with a dilemma. They don't want a lengthy discovery process that will reveal the depth of their wrongdoing, and settling will prevent that. However, if they settle, they have to stop filing lawsuits against consumers left and right, otherwise they've just advertised to the whole legal world "Sue us, and we'll cave! You'll get a nice fat settlement check!"
- inactive, on 03/14/2008, -1/+12Don't choke
The RIAA has a history of gagging people. - lithera, on 03/14/2008, -0/+11My comment is indeed two sided, because I for one would not be surprised if it actually would happen.
Companies of this size don't have morals whatsoever. Everything evolves around the almighty dollar and a human simply is nothing more than a object with a pricetag. Sad but true. - Sebach, on 03/14/2008, -0/+10Oh come on now, the RIAA isn't Scientology... or is it? Da duh dunnn!!!
- pauleric, on 03/14/2008, -0/+10What!?! Are you saying I don't have a right to enjoy such classics as "Headless Body in Topless Bar"? Shame on you sir. Shame.
- coyote1284, on 03/14/2008, -1/+11If someone can walk in and make a duplicate of my stuff and take that, did I really lose anything? If someone stole your stuff and you couldn't get it back, would you sue them for 1500 times its value?
- theaceoffire, on 03/14/2008, -0/+10^_^ Don't worry, you don't have to do something wrong for them to try and sue you!
- thelostemperor, on 03/14/2008, -0/+10Any settlement would probably involve non-disclosure of terms. But she could declare her price publically in advance to be, oh, say 3 million, and not a penny less. That way if they do settle the amount is already disclosed and at least the RIAA gets egg on their face for having to pay so much. I do agree however that for the greater good it would be better if she didn't settle, since the revealed evidence could help in other legal actions.
- inactive, on 03/14/2008, -7/+17All of you chanting ***** the RIAA really need to get off your god damn entertainment addictions. The entertainment industry is out of control and mostly shoveling us ***** because most of you eat it up like it is gold. It is time to stop the creation of celebrities, celebrity addiction, and this lame incessant need to own every DVD or CD that is released. All of you crying out for p2p are just as guilty as the RIAA. While they are addicted to the money they make off of you, you are addicted to the products they offer you. End this *****, NOW!
- cleverhanz, on 03/14/2008, -1/+10Everyone has their price. I know I could be bought for far less than $5 million.
