NOTE: Digg is a ***** link aggregator. Of course it ***** copies articles from the internet. That's its purpose. - deadowl, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1I like Digg's way of organizing things much more than reddit's.
What I don't like about either system is that they spawn bury brigades, and even sometime bi-directional bury brigades, which essentially leads to community censorship. Usually it's a niche crowd within the community that causes all of the ruckus.
Example of a bi-directional bury brigade: I hate Ron Paul stories vs. I love Ron Paul stories
People are fed up by Ron Paul stories because 90% of the time it's not news, and then when the Ron Paul lovers have REAL news it will usually get buried anyway. Meanwhile, people digging Ron Paul will bury any articles with a negative perspective.
I don't respect when people use social networking as a promotion device. I'm equally fed up with Conan O'Brien videos on YouTube, in which 90% of the videos aren't even close to funny. Still, there needs to be some way to avoid the situation when niche communities invoke a bury brigade because that's when a lot of user's end up getting alienated.
