- ThePhaige, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5Actually "Patternson and Gimlin" the former who filmed this DID NOT lay on his deathbed and admit this was hoaxed. The latter Gimlin is still alive and vehemently denies this as being a hoax. There is alot of study that has gone into this since its being filmed in 1967 at Bluff Creek. Even scientist are on the fence as to how someone in 1967 could have created such a suit at that time with nary any cash. There is a lot more to this story than meets the eye. http://www.bigfootforums.com/
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5It's a she.
It has big hairy boobs. - eatasandwich, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5I love how everyone is saying "so obviously fake" as if they all know what bigfoot REALLY would look/walk like if he did exist. Maybe the real reason nobody has proved the big guy to exist is because he's developed the cunning ability to walk like a man in a suit!
- jord, on 10/12/2007, -3/+7ha that's cool
still looks like a guy in a suit though - bartendercorey, on 10/12/2007, -3/+6Dad!
- Anguis, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Story behind the footage:
http://www.bfro.net/GDB/CNTS/CA/DN/ca_dn004.htm - Skullpop, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Skeptical? It's bigfoot man.. there's no reason to beleive anything about it.
- titlesaysitall, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2THE TITLE DOES SAY IT ALL!
- weirdal, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Anybody saying the guys who made it admitted it on their death bead need to get their facts straight. Patterson died claiming it was real, and Gimlin is still alive and says it's real.
There was a guy who died 2 years ago who admitted he made bigfootprints with a foot mold in california in the 50's. you are probably thinking of him.
Did anybody hear the coast to coast AM show in 2001 with the guy who claims he shot one? They rerun it occasionally.
Apparently he and 3 others shot one (male), then they shot the female when they went to check what it was. Then they burried them because they were so human like they thought they would be charged with murder.
The guy sounded VERY convincing. he even provided a map to Art Bell to the exact spot he burried them. I don't know if they were ever dug up, he killed them over 30 years ago, so not much would be left.
And BTW, I don't know how you can say this is a hoax just because it walks like a human, that's one of bigfoot's main 'features' - panique, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I'm digging it not because I actually digg it but just to piss off all the people who feel the need to spam us with their "no digg", like they're some cute college coed withholding pussy.
- Otto, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Modified version, with zooms on certain parts stuck in the GIF: http://www.bigfootencounters.com.nyud.net:8090/files/Walkingwithbigfoot.gif
- eatasandwich, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3I think it is NOT obviously a guy in a suit. I think that the fact that the footage still remains the subject of debate is proof of this. Anyone with any degree of biomechanical knowledge or gait analysis experience (which I have) will tell you that if this is a fake it's actually a very clever one because it DOESN'T look the same as a man walking in a suit...and that is a hard thing to fake. It just looks MORE like a man in a suit than any other animal looks like a man in a suit.
I love the mystique surrounding this kind of thing, and instant debunking of something studied for years by scientists far more knowledgable than yourselves is kind of ignorant...and more importantly, it's the kind of attitude that removes a lot of enjoyment and mystery out of life. - natevdh, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Very cool tech. Now if someone would just do that with blair witch 1 it would be watchable

- Shiggen, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Walks too much like a human.
+Digg for that fresh animation thing. - lunarship, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Probably for the sake of bandwidth, I would have thought.
- SuperMunchkin, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1
I'm also -thinking- it's a fake, but i'm in no way an expert.
It's interesting to read the stuff on Wikipedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Patterson-Gimlin_film, posted earlier by zixx), where they list the things that scientific analysis found to be in favor of this being the real deal. Things such as locomotion, body mass, body proportions, movement, detail etc.
If this was a guy in a suit, it was a damn good suit, and they somehow found this tall, broad shouldered guy with long arms to do this for them. You'd think that such a guy would've been easy to track down or connect to these guys. - lunarship, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Very nice work. I can't help thinking that the Bigfoot reminds me of the gorilla in the Rene Russo film Buddy http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0118787/
- majik, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Why is it so hard to believe that a big-foot-like creature can not possibly exist? The panda bear was discovered in the 1800's. That's pretty recent. One should not rule out the existence of a species just because it hasn't been captured.
"Walks too much like a human." posted by Shiggen
Where is it written that a creature can not walk like a human? If you had never seen a dog before would you assume it did could not possibly exist because it walks too much like a cat?
"If there really are Bigfoots (Bigfeet) out there, how come no one has ever found the body of a dead Bigfoot?" posted by awhite2600
Whoever says a dead animal's carcus must always remain in the open ready to be found? Dead bears are rarely found...yet they do exist. - lunarship, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Digg for making me laugh like a demented chicken! :-)
- Heavy_C, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Dude, I was just trying to go for a swim when some creep on horse starts video taping me! Now it's all over the internet! I'm glad he fell, jerk.
- mixpix405, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1And... how many times can we fit "its a guy in a suit - but i dugg for the technology behind the image" onto this page? Lets have an official count.
- mvdude, on 10/12/2007, -3/+4That is sooooo guy in suit.
- randyjohnson, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I was watching a show on the National Geographic Channel last night about lake monsters and a video forensics contractor for the FBI did some video stabilisation of Ogo Pogo footage with results just like this video. The process appears to be quite time consuming as he must maintain multiple reference points for each frame.

i like the way the frames are applied. that's about it though... - netmynder, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Looks WAY too much like a normal guy strolling into a gas station to pay for gas.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1The site is down... anyone have a mirror of the .gif?
- mixpix405, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Now... I have a question for all you "NO MORE 'TITLE SAYS IT ALL' " people.
What SHOULD the poster have put? The title REALLY DID say it all.. I'd rather see "title says it all" than a big long ***** that actually doesnt help me know anything about the link.
Quit whining, bitches. - JAWS, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Jesus, does anybody read the damn comments? I've seen 4 posts perpetuating the myth. Patterson was a penniless bigfoot nut that desperately needed the cash. While Patterson DID NOT recant the hoax on his deathbed like many people say, "Gimlin allowed for at least the possibility of a hoax on Patterson's part" (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Patterson-Gimlin_film). If you read the Wiki, note that Patterson immediately shopped around for rights for the film as well as went on a talk circuit, while Gimlin never did. Smacks of incredulity.
With most of the pacific northwest forests now gone, don't you think we'd have seen a few Bigfoots (feet?) around Redmond by now? Seriously, there's no way in which even a few dozen bigfoots can survive over that many generations with man in the hills without a massive inbreeding problem. A viable population of bigfoots would have to be around 50 individuals MINIMUM.(http://www.science.mcmaster.ca/biology/CBCN/genetics/skw_paper.htm) Don't you think a few would have been snagged by now? - tsbardella, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1When I was a kid I wanted to be big foot. I wanted to walk arround in the woods naked and scare people. Now I am an adult they arrest adults for that sort of thing takes the edge off of it you know.
- ashtonium, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I agree, the hoax is totally revealed by this stabilization...
BUT PLEASE PEOPLE, NO MORE "TITLE SAYS IT ALL"
Please? Think of the Children! - curtissthompson, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I don't think this was submitted to digg for everyone to express their opinions of truth or falacy, but rather to show off someone's ability to use a gif image to produce a video expanding across, frame by frame in rapid succession in order to stabilize the footage of a supposed bigfoot video!
- Otto, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Holy crap, slow site.
Coralized: http://www.bigfootencounters.com.nyud.net:8090/files/mk_davis_pgf.gif - DomoDigital, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1this is the single greatest thing I HAVE EVER SEEN!!!!!!! I knew there'd be a purpose for the internet, now that its fullfilled what will everyone do??
- Cyrealm, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I can hear it now.."From the Kingdom of Nye..." =)
- Guspaz, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Well, it is obviously a guy in a suit, but I dug it because the GIF itself is super neat. It isn't just stabilization, it's also spacial placement. Of course, spacial placement is trivial once you've stabilized, but it still LOOKS really cool to have the frame move. I much prefer this method of stabilization to the method used in the JFK video (Which was obviously doctored, since the "blood" is actually an orange lense flare made to look like blood)
Anybody know what software was used for this? - optimusfx, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Open the gif in QuickTime player.. it plays much nicer and you can scrub back and forth.
- randylovin, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1The OP totally f'd up the title of this Article. It should have been, "Mitch Hedburg hypothesis incorrect. Bigfoot not blurry."
- Rekkid, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I'm Canadian... I see those things walking around all the time. In the winter, if you leave your skis unattended, they'll change the DIN settings on your bindings.
- colinodell, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1two things:
first off, they probably just used ImageReady, which allows you to import AVIs and export GIFs, giving each frame its own layer, which could be manually adjusted to remove camera shake. this would also explain why each frame stack upon the next.
secondly, download it and zoom in while it plays (winxp's preview feature works fine) note the feet - completely white bottoms, sorta like shoes. if that was really bigfoot it would probably have hair on its feet. and it would probably walk as if its arms were heavier.
+digg anyways, very interesting - Skrolnik, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2I'm still waiting for a mashup of the stabilized bigfoot and the stabilized JFK.
- opinionmonkey, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I love reading through the comments, so many people repeating thing like they're original statements ;)
Dugged, really cool seeing that video in this stabalized form - HonestAbe, on 08/14/2008, -0/+1It could be a lot better. They should fill it in from all the shots so that the background is continuous.

- hayden.evans, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0it really is a guy in a suit. the man who did it died like a year or two ago and admitted to it.
