hearingexchange.com — As a Deaf technology geek, i love my tivo, unfortunately its disappointing to find out that closed captioning isn't provided on the Amazon Unbox service. Please bring attention to the lack of consideration by the large corporations for the deaf and hard of hearing population! Not just for Amazon but for movie theaters nationwide....

  • raitchison, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1Not to be unsympathetic to the hearing impaired, the movies aren't even widescreen, the lack of closed captioning is the least of their worries.
  • DavisFreeberg, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1You raise a good point and this is something that Amazon should provide with the download, but the technology may still be too young. Hopefully, they don't ignore this issue though. Even beyond helping the hearing impaired, there are real world search applications that make good business sense for running the captions through a search engine.

    Luckily, in the meantime, there are open source alternatives, if you don't mind going to bit torrent instead of Amazon for your content.
