- RobotCitizen, on 10/12/2007, -4/+25@vrogy: Yeah, I guess the world has never seen a gay genius. Idiot.
- makenai, on 10/12/2007, -0/+20That's all fine and good, but what happens when they try to stamp your hand with that UV ink at Disneyland?
Ooh - what if you got a tattoo of the stamp? - tacom8, on 10/12/2007, -2/+20Vector713...
Congrats you are the bigest tool on the internet.. nothing like making fun of someone WHO HAD CANCER and got through it, and now he just wants a small reminder of his victory. - Ratteler, on 10/12/2007, -0/+18Cool. Now I prove what a complete dork I am by getting a Tron suit tattoed on my nakid body. LMAO!
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+16Bollocks!
X-Rays DO NOT affect tatooed skin, though they might mess up the image a tiny bit.
MRI is a different matter as it uses highly powerful magnetic thingies during the imaging, but even then the ammount of iron in a tattoo is generally nowhere near enough to cause burning. If it was, you'd be unable to get a MRI done if there was a single tat on your body.
I think Mythbusters did a story on this where they tattooed stuff onto chunks of pig :) and NO detectable heat reaction was found. - m0oSe, on 10/12/2007, -0/+16I think that guys arm only looks that bad because it was done recently.
- emacs, on 10/12/2007, -0/+14As someone with six tattoos (the first of which i got back in 1997), getting a tattoo feels like a continuous cat scratch. More annoying than hurtful but people have different pain thresholds.
- shitsite, on 10/12/2007, -2/+16V cool. I'm almost tempted to get covered in UV tats myself (a full body skeleton would be the ultimate) - although I bet it still hurts!
- frem001, on 10/12/2007, -1/+14leonardo da vinci's anatomical drawings for me please
- Jeffrey903, on 10/12/2007, -0/+13Don't they change the tattoo based on the day? Still, I'm sure if you went to Disney World every day for 2 weeks (if you lived close) and asked the people what character the tattoo was, you could figure out the pattern (if there was one), and if there wasn't, you could get a specific tattoo, and go every day and if that day matched your tattoo, you could go for free, otherwise you tried the next day. Or you could get a different one on each hand, and double your chances of getting in.
But seriously, who likes Disney World anyway? It was fun when you were 5. (the lines!!!) - 0x0000ff, on 10/12/2007, -1/+13there's a reply button somewhere around here i know it
- Warptera, on 10/12/2007, -4/+14I don't know about you, but it looks like they have scars all over their body from it.
- zeebo, on 10/12/2007, -7/+17@vrogy
And this matters because? - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+10"And this matters because?"
the fact that he took the time to post that reply talking about da vinci's gayness says a lot more about vrogy than about da vinci himself. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -3/+12Like, totally, right dude?
- OwenX, on 10/12/2007, -1/+10Get a blacklight tatoo of a barcode on the back of your neck to freak people out :)
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+9That was shortly after the procedure was complete. Although, I was dissappointed they didn't have any shots of what it looks like normally. I would like to know if there is any scarring and if you can see the tats in the daylight at all.
- cajunman4life, on 10/12/2007, -3/+12"there was no need for your *****-ish comment."
And there was a need for yours? - toomuchcoffee, on 10/12/2007, -2/+11>this is stupid. why would anyone want to mark up their body, and glow in the dark in the process?
Maybe because I have two small tattoos used to target my radiation treatment for cancer, and want to have at least one non-cancer tattoo for a little closure. And maybe I work in a business that doesn't exactly appreciate tattoos. Stupid for you maybe, but grow up and realize there are more people out there in the world besides you. - davidv, on 10/12/2007, -1/+9The only downside is you would have to be covered in Mickey Mouse and Goofy tats :P
- illu45, on 10/12/2007, -2/+9I doubt that those are actual scars, but they do look quite scar-like and ugly when not glowing in the dark...
- ccanni1028, on 10/12/2007, -1/+8lame_duck - why don't you just link to the direct page?
http://www.bmezine.com/tattoo/uv001.html - aluminumpork, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6Indeed, I saw that MythBusters episode. There was no detectable problems with the tattoo from the MRI.
- lame_duck, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7You need a huge penis on your forehead that reads pwned.
- The_Decryptor, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5"How, exactly, does that prove anything about the pain someone may or may not feel?"
They also made Scottie have a MRI scan, she said it didn't hurt.
And the doctor said he hadn't heard of it happening (at most they feel a little warmth), and the guy they got in to do the tattoo's said he had never heard of it happening (it would be a big thing if MRI's were ripping tattoo's out of people) - Spazkake, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5I'd like to get one on my forehead that says "It sure is dark in here."
- Xinareiaz, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5wth? how would that happen?
- eadnams, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4My friend purchased a battery operated portable black light, hehehe... Also, Counterfiet bill detectors work well ;)
- lame_duck, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5If you look for people that put REAL thought into there tats, they love them. I know couple of old folks with them, and most don't regret/hate them. Only one hates his tat, but I won't comment on him.
Most people that hate them are the teenieboppers that go, "lik OMG!!!11!1! I got a tat tha sayz "Hottie". lololololololo!!!!~~~~" or the punk that got all tatted up because he lived in "da hood" then learned that Beverly Hills is as far from "da hood" as you can get. - Terc, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4I'm fairly certain that these pics are all right after the tattoo. Give the skin a few weeks to heal, and I doubt you'd be able to see it anymore. Although, it is possible there will still be a slightly different hue if you really look hard.
- eadnams, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5A friend of mine got this done 3 years ago, when ti was still hard to find a parlour that had it... Very cool to use with an existing tat, glows with the colors...
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4I was thinking the same thing. I guess it's for people who want to be creative without being chained down by tattoo stereotypes. For example, would you vote for a president who had all kinds of crazy tattoos on his face? Or in an office environment, having a tattoo below the sleeve can be banned. Or they would take the guy without tattoos more seriously, send him to the meetings, represent the company as neutral as possible. This is a way to be creative, and still fit in with the conservative types.
But yeah, you can't see it, unless you go to a rave or have a freaky girlfriend! Might be useful for secret societies. Maybe Bush has a Bohemian Grove tattoo like this. - CalH, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4well you see, some people actually have jobs that involve more than sitting at home on a computer. and usually when you get one of those jobs, you go to something called an interview. during this interview, you have to talk to the person who will decide if they actually want to hire you. normally, a visible tattoo will decrease your chances
- PsyX, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3I hate to break it to you but most of the time that people want to get tattoos and hide them in public isn't because they choose to. Many jobs do not want you tattooed and working for them with tattoos showing, especially ones that might influence the way that your work appears to other people.
- Cyberdactyl, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4I'd like to see a study how people feel about their tats when they get them. . .then 5 , 10 and 20 years later.
My anecdotal poll is almost everyone I've ever talked to with 20 year old tats tend to regret ever getting them.
Three weeks after: "This thing is SO sweet dude. It's art man!"
5 years: "It's all about what I am, it's part of me"
10 years: "What. . .oh that tat, yea it's ok"
20 years: "I've looked into laser removal. Maybe. . .we'll see" - Branden, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3m0oSe is right. In the comments it says it looks like normal after around a year (I remember it saying a year, but can't confirm that because the link isn't working for me right now), except while under a black light, of course.
- ccanni1028, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3http://www.crazychameleonbodyartsupply.com/are-blacklight-uv-reactive-tattoos-safe.htm
- ehmjay, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4this is quite cool, of course it would make playing things like "Laser Quest" really tough...that or just make it creepier!
- lame_duck, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4It feels like this, it feels like that. It's all a load of crap. It's diffrent for everyone. For me, the outlining doesn't hurt bad but the shading was like someone taking a hot, flathead screwdriver down my back. My friend hates outlining, but can stand shading.
- seoul_scurry, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3This type of ink has been around for a long time, this really isn't anything new. Also, those tats in the photo are from a "just inked" tattoo, once it heals you won't be able to see that it's there... even in the sun light... even if you look at it from funny angles... even if you're not a digg nerd, etc, etc. I know a girl who clubs a lot and often wears backless shirts to expose her angel wings that only show up under black light. It looks badass!
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3"i still havent figured out how this relates to ME and my need for realization of others."
Lets hope this guy never has children, and if you do already, my condolenses....to them - buckyboy314, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3It would show up outdoors, but because the visible light is much stronger, you probably wouldn't see the glow from the UV ink. I know I can see a slight glow from some UV-responsive items in sunlight, but it's not enough to notice at a glance.
- Lounger540, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4Just a thought, but the ink is shifting the energy spectrum from UV to visible light. Possibly under intense X-Ray's the chemicals in the ink cause a shift into the UV B spectrum, which would be like sun burn.
- ccanni1028, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3The people look like they have scars because those are all taken right after it happens. Once it heals (1-2 months), you can barely notice it.
- ccanni1028, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3It doesn't glow in the dark. It only glows under a blacklight.
- kday, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I got one of these a year and a half ago. It left a faint scar. You only notice it if you look closely.
- Homunculiheaded, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2There is some potential risk involved with MRI and tattoos containing ferrous ink (if you ever get an MRI one of the questions they ask is whether or not you have tattoos). However ferrous inks have not been used in tattoos for around 20 years, so there isn't any potential risk unless you're tattoo is over 20 years old. Just google 'tattoos' and MRI.
- zewise1, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Hey, that may be the solution for Alex to finally getting inked up...push him Kev!! LOL
- ccanni1028, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2You can't just have the stamp. They also recheck the ticket.
- Recluse, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I'm getting one. This is way better than any regular tatoo.
