- Jams, on 10/12/2007, -0/+19Does anyone else hate it when companies feel the need repeat their product name over and over in caps and with the ® symbol.
eg. SLEEPTRACKER® is great, buy your SLEEPTRACKER® now because SLEEPTRACKER® is the best. SLEEPTRACKER® can be ordered from our online SLEEPTRACKER® shop.
/Just a rant - anonatron, on 10/12/2007, -0/+15Sorry I'm late, my alarm clock didn't want to wake me up yet!
- lupinglade, on 10/12/2007, -0/+12Should have just named it SLEEPTRACKE®
- Hutch, on 10/12/2007, -0/+10For 186 dollars Canadian I'll make a contraption that will wake me up with the scent of fresh bacon..because when bacon is involved I might feel tired but my hunger overrides that quickly.
- Murdats, on 10/12/2007, -0/+10with the not waking up, after having an alarm for a while you will learn to wake up from it, I had a radio alarm clock that made a faint click whenever the radio turned on, I would wake up from the click instantly. Man i hated that noise, even in the afternoon or such just turning the radio on would be horrible
- disillusioned, on 10/12/2007, -1/+8GearLive posted a good review about this here:
http://www.gearlive.com/index.php/news/article/sleeptracker_watch_review_03221147/
(Disclosure: I occasionally write for GearLive.)
Looks like a good product, in general, but Andru can comment more on it, since he owns one.
(Some complaints I've heard involve it somewhat sucking to wear a watch to sleep, and also sometimes not hearing the alarm if it's under a pillow or some such..., etc.) - dharm, on 10/12/2007, -1/+8how did the review score 10/10 when there are negative things brought up.
"there was just one morning that I was not awakened by it"
in a review of using the product for 1 week, not waking up 1 day by it is a big deal... - jonsedar, on 10/12/2007, -1/+8Oooooooooold!
Got one, used it for a month. sold it.
(My body clock and schedule is so erratic that I often simply didnt move during the time window that it was analysing my movements, hence it ended up just trying to wake me at the end of the time window. Plus the alarm isnt very loud and if buried under the pillow I often missed it.) - jonesin, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6I like how on the demo page the watch is displaying my current time, that's pretty cute :)
- lbeaty1981, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Murdats, I used to have an alarm clock just like that. Any time I heard anything that sounded remotely like that click, I'd just about jump out of my skin!
Now, I use a combination of a coffee pot and alarm clock to wake me up in the morning. I set the coffee pot to start up about 5 minutes before my alarm clock so the sound of it going off will start to draw me out of deep sleep and into a half-awake haze. That way, when the alarm goes off, it's not quite so much of a shocker (usually). - gwjc, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I first saw it on some Discovery show. and their only complaint was that it was also that it was too quiet. Though they claimed that because it waits until you're at a very light sleep before sounding the alarm, it didn't really matter.
- leehord, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2This was on the Daily Giz Wiz Podcast about a month ago. Really neat idea!
- axelmattias, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Bought one last year and I actually started wearing a watch again for the first time in 5 years because of this.
It didn't work for me since the alarm was too faint and I sleep with a big comforter. Furthermore it was supposed to be water proof in the shower but water got in and the LCD started flaking after a year just after the warranty ran out. I really wanted this to work. Good idea but no go for me. - webcrumb, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2"I'd pay a lot of money for a bacon alarmclock."
It's called a more disciplined other half. It also provides a tea alarm clock, coffee alarm clock, and "get out of bed you lazy $*" alarm clock. - scstraus, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I own one. I'm not too impressed with it. The alarm is extremely quiet and has no snooze. It's based on a motion sensor which doesn't really necessarily correlate with your sleep cycle exactly. And much of the time it just goes off at the set time anyhow even with the sliding window set to the max. This thing is mostly a gimmick. These things will only work properly when someone does an eeg based one like this one:

The gearlive review is so obviously a sponsored review! Check for any other review on the internet and it's not nearly so positive! - lupinglade, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Why does it have to say sleeptracker and stuff on it? Why can't it just be a normal watch with this as a feature. I'm not going to swap watches day and night.
- Ryuuzaki, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Maybe with some modding it might help people archieve polyphasic sleep! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Polyphasic_sleep
- Orbatos, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2People still wear watches? Otherwise it's still too expensive and flawed to take over for my cell phone, which has a vibrate capable alarm.
- EBFoxbat, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1There's an alarm clock like this... you year a wrist sensor or something and it has the alarm clock wake you at the best time /- 30 minutes from when you set your alarm (so set it 1/2 hour early). http://www.digitalreviews.net/reviews/200604/axbo/axbo-sleep-phase-alarm-clock.html
- Crankt, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Careful you don't grill your foot.
- Stonekeeper, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Here is a 30 day review:
http://waterflavored.blogspot.com/ - fourbissime, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I read once an article somewhere on the internet about this. The guy explained how you could create something similar to this, waaaaay cheaper. The trick is quite simple indeed.
All you need is a radio alarm clock which lets you set two alarms : one with the radio, the other with the buzzer. Set the buzzer to the time you definitely want to wakeup, and set the radio something like 30 minutes earlier - not sure of the precise time, it was connected to the average length of sleep cycle.
The idea is to put the volume of the radio really really low. If it is low enough, this won't wake you up if you are in deep sleep, but it will when you come to the light sleep phase. The other alarm is just a backup.
I tried it this year and found it was better to wake up like this - but this may be totally subjective. - Alegis, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I don't like wearing watches when I sleep anyways - looks 'cool' but quite expensive. I'm going to adjust my sleep schedule to one steve pavlina suggested -> sleep when body is tired, wake at precise time
- JohnP, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1So you like Death Note eh? The movie comes out in like 10 days in Japan. :)
- freshyill, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Old news, but hella cool just the same.
People need to search before they submit, but I guess since none of the earlier submissions did too well, it's forgivable in this case. - shrewduser, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1"and wakes you up at the best possible time..."
...7:30? - PhantomZmoove, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1I wear a watch when I'm going out to a fancy diner or something like that. Its just a piece of jewelry, like a ring or any other decoration.
- SPLASTiK, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2$150 Watch to wake you up when you're in a light sleep or....
$15 Extra Loud Alarm Clock from Timex to wake you up when you're in a light or deep sleep
I'll take the $15 Alarm Clock.

Up to 110 Decibels! - sbra9635, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I've done my research on it a short while back because I was interested in buying one. Its true that it just uses a motion sensor because apparently you move the most when you're in a lighter sleep. I really don't have faith in something that uses this idea to 'track my sleeping patterns'. Plus there have been to many bad reviews saying that the alarm noise is way too quiet and that the 'set' button on the front always gets pressed by accident during sleep.
I did come across that axonlabs site during my search. I am very interested to see what they're product will be like if they get around to finishing it. that site has been like that for some time now. - cheddar, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I've owned mine for about 4 months now and it's pretty good. It was really good in the beginning where it would wake me up and I could just get out of bed. The only problem I have is laziness. Sometimes it'll wake me up and I'll see that I have 14 more minutes before the last alarm would go off. At that point, I just hit snooze and go back to sleep for the remaining time, but I felt worse when the alarm went off again.
Good for people who actually need/want be alert when the alarm goes off... bad for those of us that are lazy - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Only if the watch wasn't so damn ugly.
- lrdscruffybttm, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I'd pay a lot of money for a bacon alarmclock.
- ockabewis, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1The news is so old!!!
http://digg.com/search?search=sleeptracker&submit=Submit - davidebacci, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0If you lot like this, you will love this one
http://www.axbo.com/infactory/2_axbo_inside_de/navigation.html - ToeCheese, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1After hours of coding (actually minutes of coding and hours of WoW) I get to sleep around 2 or 3am so my heavy sleep starts about 6-7am and I need to wake up by 7:30 so with this clock I am SOL
- Ryuuzaki, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I somehow managed to make everybody believe "that". But I'm still here, hehehe.
Looking forward to that movie... my Near-kun will teach some lessons there. - command, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I bought one when they came out but I returned it because the alarm isn't very loud. The other problem is that you have to make sure to sleep with your hand outside of your covers or you can't hear it at all. This is only viable for people that get a good amount of sleep every night but need to know when to wake up for the perfect amount of sleep. This is not for people like me that barely get any sleep and need two loud alarms to wake up at the last minute.
I think this one might work a little better since the alarm isn't on the band:

- victorp, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0ohhh I want one, but Ill still hate getting up in the morning knowing work is ahead of me
- phore, on 10/12/2007, -5/+1i want one
