- fhernand, on 06/03/2008, -4/+23too little... too late...
- mr5150, on 06/03/2008, -4/+16Why anyone would ever put Adobe Acrobat on their computer is beyond me. Acrobat is a bloated pig and runs just a quick as one.
+1 for Foxit - hadak, on 06/03/2008, -2/+10What a strange way to make a PDF. There are so many other solutions out there that will just "convert to PDF" for you...the only reason you'd want acrobat is to edit the layout of a PDF, or add a form...and I'm not even sure all that is necessary. I really dont' see the benefit of this "teaser" site. It really only offers a free tool that you can get for free anywhere else, and it mangles documents, anyway.
Comparison:

Normal - http://i28.tinypic.com/2rhqzyp.jpg - simg, on 06/03/2008, -0/+8no, but every time you go to the site you get asked if you want to update your version of Acrobat Reader.
/lie> - pbarbosa, on 06/03/2008, -2/+8I moved on to foxit (www.foxitsoftware.com) and my life improved considerably!
- D4rklight, on 06/03/2008, -4/+8did you fools even look at the site? this isn't just Acrobat for PDF creation, it's the best online word processor, online storage/collaboration space, and online meeting rooms. with more probably coming soon...
- WikiEasy, on 06/03/2008, -8/+12Does going to that site add a stupid process called acrobat32.exe to my process list? If so, f* that.
- TheMachine1, on 06/03/2008, -0/+4I guess having obsolete computers most my life makes me detest adobe's pdfs. I'm not lying I could type faster than pages would render. I use a minimalist pdf reader now: Sumatra pdf.
http://blog.kowalczyk.info/software/sumatrapdf/ - nickert0n, on 06/03/2008, -0/+2I registered and tested it out my input is as follows:
- Interface is the most beautiful I have seen very "2.0", it doesn't IMO have an appropriate work flow you have to stop and think about what your doing for a second to remember the proprietary layout
- The meeting software is off the hook in functionality, very worth checking out
- There is NO .xls support (Excel,Calc) therefore right there no one will take it seriously.
- Free Adobe PDF Creation is great, even though their are tons of Open Source solutions this will still help the industry because like my job Dinosaurs prohibit Open Source Software for no reason but because god like Adobe released this the company can still save money. - counterplex, on 06/03/2008, -0/+1So when's the Flex port of this site coming?
- synyster, on 06/03/2008, -1/+2best? you must be joking. but it does have some good features i really like such as collaboration stuff, you can do IM and webcam stuff
- cassaffousth, on 06/03/2008, -1/+2Opera browser is not supported :-(
- ilgaz, on 06/06/2008, -0/+1In what sense? Do you have any clue how huge has Acrobat/PDF has become in all these years?
- jamesacres, on 06/03/2008, -0/+1I agree, plus Adobe ConnectNow looks like one of the best screen sharing tools I've come across.
- AgamousChild, on 06/03/2008, -0/+1It's pretty cool.
- Zippo, on 06/03/2008, -0/+1I have to use Acrobat Pro in my job... admittedly, it is a bit clunky. Acrobat Reader 8 is pretty quick, though.
- jayoh, on 06/03/2008, -0/+1the meeting system is great - i hope it stays free for life! i've already paid adobe enough to use their software...
- atomicrobot, on 06/03/2008, -1/+2Adobe's acrobat products are bloated, buggy crap.
- hadak, on 06/03/2008, -0/+1Want a cookie?
- Druckles, on 06/03/2008, -2/+2Another useful online tool. It certainly looks nifty and there doesn't appear to be much wrong with it as a whole.
However, it's not particularly intuitive and as with anything would require getting some used to, so I can't see it catching on particularly quickly. - XtremeBug, on 06/03/2008, -1/+1Creating and Editing PDFs, maybe? It also has OCR support for asian languages, which for some reason all of the major OCR programs to my knowledge don't seem to support unless you buy a different version of 'em.
As far as the average user goes, who just wants to view PDFs or maybe make simple changes, Foxit is definitely the best option by far, but when it comes to anything more advance, Acrobat just can't be touched. Also, the slowness is a thing of the past. It still requires a nice hunk of space on your hard drive, but it does start just as fast as Foxit, and doesn't use that much memory. Still has the nice security flaws though :). - Duositex, on 06/03/2008, -3/+3Very impressive from Adobe. Very. I've been using the word processor and there is a great deal of potential here.
- suckingeggs, on 06/03/2008, -2/+1What D4rklight said and some...beats google docs by miles and loving the whiteboard :-)
- TheBogie, on 06/03/2008, -4/+4On the bright side, at least acrobat.com won't ask me every single day to update to the next version like the desktop version. I have to cancel the install every time I want to view a hoddam PDF.
In short: Acrobat sucks ass. - inactive, on 06/03/2008, -3/+2your CV sucks. i write mine in LaTeX and output to PDF.
- counterplex, on 06/03/2008, -3/+1SpiderPig! SpiderPig! Does whatever a SpiderPig does. Can he swing, from a web? No he can't, he's a pig, Look out! He is a SpiderPig!
