Keith and the Girl are by far a better podcast, and demonstrably more popular, than that other guy/girl couple who put out a podcast, but Curry won't every give KATG props for being #1 on his own PodcastAlley rating site.

He can explain away all day how innocent or nobel his editing "attempts'" were, but to try and say he couldn't figure out a wiki, even though he had little trouble twice this year, and just gave up while trying to "correct" the history of podcasting according to him is lame. He's a big enough hot-shot to have someone do it for him or know someone to help him.
Remember, this guy isn't a millionaire because he's so caught up in trying to do the right thing. As a poster above said, he spent 4 months talking about Bio-disel and saving the environment through alternative fuels and what did he do when his company lease was up on his current motor car? I think he's a straightforward guy and goes out of his way to present podcasts from everyone - even if he doesn't agree with their viewpoints. And although he does can appear to have an ego (like anyone willing to go out there and broadcast their personal life to strangers), he's able to find humor in and pokes fun of himself. If you don't like him, that's fine. Then don't support podshow, don't listen to his podcast. I, however, think he's done a lot of good for many podcasters and musicians. And most of all, I don't think it's right to pick on his wife and daughter.

The "power" Curry has is relative....he doesn't own the medium by any stretch...and through things like this, people tend to start straying away.... To every Curry there is a Weiner, to every slashdot, there is a Digg...
Bottom line is that Curry doesn't get to the grassroots of it anymore. He just sits on his thrown in his made up monarchy and believes everyone thinks he is the best. The people that are his fans are essentially just sitting around, thinking that they are going to get a piece of the pie and be in his "inner circle"....for whatever that brings. But in reality, it is the people that are actually out there doing stuff, working with others, etc that will get noticed and make something out of it. He may get the initial ear of an apple or advertisers at some point, but as soon as that egg is cracked, others will be right in there doing their own things from the bottom up...Just look at the companies out there now making a buck off of podcasting....everything from equipment, to networks, to hosting companies....all outside the realm of curry and podshow. (this is specific to podcasting...on the other hand, I think he has done a great job with "podsafe music" and the like while without making it all about him for the most part)
Look at Kevin Rose at Digg.....i've followed him since he was practically an intern on the ScreenSavers on the old tech TV. He had an idea a year ago to create a new type of slashdot where the readers contributed to what they thought was relevant instead of a handful of "editors"....Today he has a couple million and VC and hasn't said a word about how digg is pioneering great content on the web vs. slashdot. (the site and us speak for this all the time!) He worked at the lowest level and got people involved in what he was doing by being equals...now today the loyalist on the site can make or break the next big thing (anyone know where to buy a digital camera??)....without the ego from the top...If he did have that ego, the loyalist here would then be the flamers and the trolls that would use his own medium to just bash him. Instead, Kevin Rose just sits back in the background spending that money on improving what everyone believes in, not trying to write history as he wants it to be percieved....(i would like to hang out on diggnation once though! :-) )
A long rant, but my point being that curry is a smug little bastard....he proves it everyday in his own words on the DSC. Making your #1 cause all about you and how you think people should perceive you won't win out in the end. I never knew what he was talking about... the intresting part I thought about his show was that he usually tried new things, like recording in a hotel as he was riding an elevator. Some stuff was boring starting lets say from his PODSHOW!!! The hit test was intresting, besides that I didn't see why I should continue listining to him so I unsubscribed.

When he first started DSC it was interesting. You didn't need to talk about anything, just the concept and application of RSS was cool. When he didn't change and just podcasting about podcasting (or his supercool lifestyle),it got very old, very fast.

And he had JUST mentioned that Wikipedia entry and how it "kind of" irked him that he and his partner were being "written out" of the history of Podcasting. Then no less then 24 hours later he's in there tinkering with it. Go listen to DSC 289 towards the end and you can hear him mention it and pretend it doesn't bother him.
