- derektherock42, on 11/10/2009, -4/+8Maybe I'm going to sound spoiled saying this, but this isn't exactly good enough. I don't want "a few changes", I want it gone completely. Digg was just fine with the banner ads before. Then the banner ads got progressively worse and worse (teeth whitening ads, "Where the wild things are" playing sound, etc). And now this. Digg is starting to look a lot like Myspace.
They do mention that you can turn it off using Stylish, but what if Firefox isn't my primary browser? - cards, on 11/10/2009, -2/+4This response misses the whole point. It's not about needing tweaks. It's about being obtrusive and the proportion of content vs ads.
Also, the last time the discussion of bad ads came up, you guys talked about how you specifically design digg to be AdBlock friendly, but whenever I have AdBlock enabled, the comments section is a mess and you can't digg/bury comments. Between that and the ads, I'm constantly enabling and disabling AdBlock for digg. I'm actually trying to leave it disabled, but you keep making the ads worse and worse to the point where a reasonable person can't stand them anymore. - flyinfoofighter, on 11/11/2009, -0/+1In-between all the ads, the ads pretending to be stories, the power user submissions and the affiliated stories, there's got to be some content on here somewhere, oh, here's something, BREAKING: Top Six Reasons Why the Earth Will End in 2012 You Will Read Today (PIC).
