- kawai, on 10/12/2007, -1/+14If this is real, that means it won't run XP Tablet PC edition, may be it will run Windows CE.
If that's the case, it's possible that it will cost around $499.
Definately fuglier than the device they showed in the videos though, it's kindda like the MS version of iPod video... - chmod, on 10/12/2007, -3/+15I agree that it looks fake, but what I find interesting is the post's title: "Actual Leaked Origami Pics Released"? Wtf? The article even says that it could be fake. Title is misleading, no friggin digg.
BTW 10:58PM Sunday, digg-slammed. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+11i'm looking forward to see if this thing is going to be worthwhile... if it's anything over $600 though it wont be....
- roeboedog, on 10/12/2007, -6/+15The is so ugly, like black makes it stylish. It's a overgrown PSP if you ask me. If you give it me, I will use it, but I don't think I will buy one.
It's like when everyone was making Baige computer boxes and IBM was black, I know people that paid more for black, no we pay more for white.
Any thoughts? - variaas, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7@sonicraze - Thanks for the link, but the site protects against hotlinking.

- MalDON, on 10/12/2007, -2/+8lol before you go and make an origamiportal.com, make sure you have a server that can survive.
- digitalgopher, on 10/12/2007, -4/+9fake. welcome to the era of rumors and quick and dirty photoshopping.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -4/+9Heheh.
I hope people are realizing this is just another Tablet PC. - kacymartin, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6that chick has a bad ass computer and some pretty killer gadgets for someone who lives in a trailor.
- stlcadet11, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6How are leaked pics, released?
- skez, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5flickr link
http://flickr.com/photos/skez/108543890/ - FishyJoe, on 10/12/2007, -2/+6I don't understand why people are expecting it to be super cheap. This is not the video game market. They are not going to make up money by selling games. It's not a phone either, so they can't make money through wireless service subscriptions.
- hankyone, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3its fake, text is too small to be read on a little screen and it looks just like a media player 11 screenshot pasted on the pic
- Bytor, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4I have no use for a Tablet but if the underlying hardware runs WinXP rather than WinCE then maybe the hardware can be used to build a reasonably prices sub notebook, something I have allways wanted, but find just way too expensive.
- felchdonkey, on 10/12/2007, -2/+5Why bother making a poor photoshop mockup when there's already a video that shows you everything?
Usually, fakeups at least have some cool fantasy tech or impossibly great features included - this is actually far worse than the Origami in the video.
If anything, it looks like the old Sony MagicLink:
http://www.digibarn.com/collections/systems/sony-magiclink/index.html - LegendarySock, on 10/12/2007, -4/+7a stylus, its a touch screen
- spazzium, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3The Nokia 770 looks like it's much smaller than this, and Nokia's is still fairly powerful. Depends on your needs I guess.
- shack, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3I agree, you can see the heterogeneous pixelation around any of the white labels. If you look closely at the L and R buttons, the R button is at a slight angle to the L button. And the blotches on the bottom right look too overdone, like someone was trying to cover up a logo that might've existed on an original photo.
This might've worked if they'd cut down on the resolution a bit, but nice try anyway. - TheCount, on 10/12/2007, -5/+7Looks like the site is down to me, anyone got an alternative?
- apexified, on 10/12/2007, -3/+5explain why we need to see "real" pics when we've already seen the real video... or was that long
over-produced commercial fake too? - MalDON, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4I don't know how that video could be fake considering that it was realeased on a firm that has done projects for Microsoft before.
- p5ychop3nguin, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2The up/down buttons on the right are just one image flipped, none of the LEDs are on. What video store has NBC CBS and Mtv? A season of L&O goes for $50+ it would never go for less than $40. The os is definitely vista-based. What's with the close and minimize buttons on the top right and where are the ones for the video store? Can you close or minimize the whole os or do the ones in the top right control the active window? Where's the mouse cursor?
It's definitely a shopped image.
Is Microsoft releasing a product that looks similar to this? Well that's another question. - dankers, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Looks very cool but I thought the touchscreens with the pens and everything was not working out in the industry.
What is very interesting is the little notebook that the Origami unit attach's onto with a keyboard and it folds up very small; about 2 of your palms spread out so it's easy to hold in unlike a full notebook.
Saw some mapping on there, some gaming and you looks like you can interact with electronics inside the house wireless; such as TV, DVR and stuff.
I just hope that it is durable and does not damage easily; I mean if they show the guy going into the off-roads to take a photo I hope it can take a little dirt and dust. - mbrindam, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Two words: Apple Newton.
- kenfagerdotcom, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2These aren't the Origami we're looking for. Move along.
- shultzy055, on 10/12/2007, -5/+7Looks pretty slick, just want to know how much and how thin.
- Mwd500, on 10/12/2007, -9/+11Looks like a chunky etch sketch
- nexus, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Like another person was saying if this runs any windows xp or windows 32bit application then why is it competition to the iPod when you can just run iTunes on this thing? Therefore microsoft beats apple. You have a real full working computer here about the size of a small hardback book and you can put the competitor's music application on here. Its the utimate win, because you see people with macs dont go and install another music application, they use iTunes. Even a lot of people on windows feel that iTunes is a superiour application and install it on their pc's win win for microsoft and apple here (as long as apple doesnt feel upset about not selling as many future iPod videos ;) )
- OOTay, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2they have...
- codemac, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2It's definitely a photoshop, I mean an explorer window on some handheld device? I all ready maximize everything when I use it... I don't want small windows on an even smaller screen.
That being said, it will be exciting to see exactly what market microsoft is going after with this device. Is it productivity or multimedia? I guess we'll find out eventually. - yodinosaur, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3mirror, mirror, on the wall...
http://snipurl.com/n83c - TravisL, on 10/12/2007, -5/+7I say that thing is hideous looking!
- smafty, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3At least he was smart enough to put some Google ads on the 404 page.
- SirNuke, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Does anyone else feel like the comment moderation is getting horribly abused? There are quite a few posts with -7, probably because they are short thoughts. It should reserve it for trolls, flamer/flamebaiters, and overall idiots, but not just because someone writes "Too bad I missed it" (or even worse the "*Waits for Bill Gates to do an Origami demo at a major trade show, resulting in a blue screen of death*" -3 post [as of this writing]). The ability to see other's thoughts is one of the huge advantages of Digg over Slashdot (in my opinion). Yeah, it gets a bit excessive after the 10th "Digg Effect!" post, but I feel it's going way too far.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3A very poor PS job. The sad thing is that people here comment on it as if it was a real device. As with the fake Ipod photo, we seem to have a group of people that are able to manipulate the news for ***** and grins. Make a crappy PS mock-up and call it the real thing and watch dozens of sites light up in endless speculation. Both Apple and MS must be pulling their hair out at these clowns.
- MalDON, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2No, it really doesn't.
- hitmikey, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3posters have stated that the article was shady,
also we already saw a video of the damn thing and these pics do in fact look chopped
no digg - ChrisLowder, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2its different from the one in the d-kitchen vid... but...
it still looks like crap... i think i will still be getting an iPod AV (even if that pic turns out to be fake, if the fishished product looks anything similar im sold) - rYno, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2ya video is old now - but that pic still looks hokey...
Just can't wait to see what the final price tag is going to be... almost saddens me. - bchang, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Does this mean that theres a secret itunes type music store coming up by windows and NBC and CBS might leave apple? But the picture does look real and it looks more realistically costing $500 then the other video.
- compwizz, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Yeah your right! I didn't catch that the first time i looked. Looks like someone copied an image onto the screen to make it look like it's turned on.
this is supposed to be under the post by mcs218, clicked the wrong "reply" link, sorry. - davdav, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1So true
- chemam, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1thanks for the mirror defectDS, was that the only picture?
btw, the thing looks kinda thick and bulky, I was really hoping for a slick thin and big screen kinda device :( - snowthrower, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3It looks ridiculously ugly...
- h4lofourt33n, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3Yeah, too big, if this was taken down to the size of a PSP perhaps, maybe a little bigger, and was a touch screen, Microsoft would reign once again. Hm, their creative team must love the Ipod =P.
