- twistymcgee, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Wow...this arguing over what is ok to post on digg and what is not is getting annoying. Since this system is user maintained and basically self moderating then by those rules anything at all should be fair game. If the community doesn't agree then the story will be reported and not make it to the front page. And of story really.
- HAKdragon, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0okay, apparently you can't do html tags for digg comments.
http://www.deviantart.com/view/2789265/ - coisty1856, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Why don't you just call it a catapult?
- HAKdragon, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0These things are very fun to make, especially when you have ones that can launch decent sized TVs. See here
- vanvan, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Because a catapult uses a completely different method? They both sling rocks, but the firing mechanism is completely different.
- rabiddogma, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I thought this was about Trebuchet the scariest FONT ever made... but really it's actually a pretty nice font, and web safe too!
- generalleoff, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I liked the big one the History Channel made some years ago and R. Lee Ermey used to launch watermelons.
http://www.rleeermey.com/ for those that don't know the guy I'm talking about.
Anyway I'm surprised to see this one come up again. I thought this Digg had died out 2 days ago. The Trebuchet is interesting but this article kinda sucked. - andy3000, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0The article "Everything you ever wanted to know about the Trebuchet" did not tell me anything that I want to know. What the hell is it and why was it the "most destructive medieval weapon ever made"?
Get your brooms. I declare shennanigans on this link. - John184, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0The Trebuchet itself wasn't that scary it was the dead animals and diseased corpses that it through. It was the first man-made Bio-warfare delivery system.
- generalleoff, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0heh that's a catapult ***** though :)
- lollerskates, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Just go up to the box and pick on of the worser descriptions, like "OK this is lame" or something.
- funderbolt, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0This is how to make a trebuchet out of popsicle sticks (MAKE: Blog).
http://www.makezine.com/blog/archive/2005/07/make_a_desktop.html - juliemu, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0To person who asked: catapults use elastic potential energy, trebuchets don't. This brings back horrible memories of having to build a 50 pound trebuchet for AP Physics.
- Toric, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Good t-shirt: http://www.mangonel.com/tshirts/image_m_shirt.jpg
- generalleoff, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1and 1000000's of useless posts pointing it out.
- scottevans, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1lol
- twistymcgee, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0"Welcome to Digg, the former tech news site, now home to 1000's of useless stories!"
Apparently you missed the fact that this is actually linking to another tech news website. And since when does tech news have to be recent tech news? What's wrong with aticles like this about ancient technologies? I see no problem with this link appearing on digg. Not all the stories can be about Macs, Windows Vista or "Hot Coffee" =) - jefflundberg, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0I'm sorry but I fail to see how is this news...
If you wanted to know about the trebuchet, go here:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Trebuchet
Or any of these fine search engines:
http://www.google.com/search?q=trebuchet
http://search.yahoo.com/search?p=trebuchet
http://search.msn.com/results.aspx?q=trebuchet
How about:
http://trebuchet.com/ - patrickweber, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0Well, actually, this does fit digg. Digg is the "technology news web site". By definition, this is a piece of technology, it just happens to not be digita.
The article itself is.. desperate for information, but it shows at least a small side of the 'trebuchet' technology. - prairieson, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0"I'm sorry but I fail to see how is this news..."
Thanks, Jeff, for making it news. Gamegirl planted the idea and you ran with it. Now I'll get little else done tonight, crap. - patrickweber, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0digital*
- doktorrocket, on 10/12/2007, -2/+0^^ This article indeed kinda sucked. I renew my call for an "un-dig" button (shovel full of dirt?). We need a way to unrate an article.
- teamparadox, on 10/12/2007, -3/+0Welcome to Digg, the former tech news site, now home to 1000's of useless stories!
