- mrfloppy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7here's the link... "*****" at top right-ish, crop circle is bottom left-ish:

- jo42, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3This is funny.
A great big Goatse done using hay bails would be brilliant.
++digg; - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?f=q&hl=en&q=&t=k&ll=53.538699,-1.346649&spn=0.001042,0.001837&t=k is the direct link, you're welcome
- dunos, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1The photo might be dusty as commented above because the highest resolution images on google earth are not done by satellite but by airplane photography. Therefore the pictures may have had to be scanned in.
- GregMote, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Fixed closer link:
http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?q=53.538535,-1.346812&spn=0.001449,0.002618&t=k - lowrydr310, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Are all people in the UK 'geometrically challenged'? I'm wondering why all the farms (and all city streets) look like a big mess - they're all oddly shaped and run in all sorts of wild directions. Take, for example, this map of farmland in California. http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&hl=en&q=bakersfield,+california&ll=35.247792,-119.05283&spn=0.035608,0.087719&t=k
They're all nicely shaped to form a grid.
I live in New Jersey (USA) and our roads and towns are laid out similarly to the UK (there's even a roundabout less than a mile from my house!), but that's probably due to the fact that the original settlers were from the UK. Back then, I guess there was no such thing as planning. People put up farms, houses, and roads wherever the heck they pleased! - lilfroger, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Ok I guess I just suck at these things. All I see is a bra....oh well...must need more coffee.
- pjh3000, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Sorry about that. I was just telling the aliens to ***** Eddie, not me.
That is all. - computerjoe, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Nifty. Big time.
- ForbesBingley, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I actually live in the next village down the road from Billingley, which is actually a very nice place to live -- old converted farm houses and such.
The field in question is nearer to Middlecliffe / Little Houghton, which, by stark contrast, isn't a really good place to live... - scottpatricks, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1That is good stuff. good thing it's not in china, probably get censored.
- yesukai, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1You must be a very bored people. There are tons of cool things to find in your crops:
http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&hl=en&q=&t=k&ll=53.541495,-1.535849&spn=0.001157,0.002494&t=k - Iriel, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1This is why the resolution is so good for these pictures, but sucks in big areas on Google maps:
The more complex the picture, the bigger the file o(^_-)0
Way to go Eddie - Daevus, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1A quick look at the wikipedia entry for Billingly kind of makes the reason for the resident's obviously frustration clear:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Billingley - streetstealth, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Ok, I'm coining a new term (as far as I know):
Geograffiti! - djbones, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1If I had to guess, I'd say Eddie was responsible for it.
- tehdan, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1"Are all people in the UK 'geometrically challenged'? I'm wondering why all the farms (and all city streets) look like a big mess - they're all oddly shaped and run in all sorts of wild directions."
You've got to remember that most of the fields you're talking about were divided up decades / centuries ago... Shaped around the land, rivers, hills, etc. They won't have had the luxury of flattening all of the land and dividing it into perfect rectangles. - mrfloppy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1but the crop circle!!! I mean, the swear is cool, but I wish I had found the crop circle first before I posted about the *****
- SinisterBunni, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Eddie is THE MAN!!!
- Arkz, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0im also from leeds in good ol yorksha! i love all the thin windy country roads, even in leeds city centre all the roads are random and round and windy, i think its crap the way the city centers are in yanky land just everything being in blocks, all straight streets, boring and dull, oh well
- mrfloppy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0WOOT! we made wikipedia!
- HydraulicToast, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0in the crop circle, you can see where the guys left through the field...
- paperpig, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0"This is obviously photoshopped, look at the cars. Duh, their on the wrong side of the road"
Couple of things - how would you photoshop google maps? We drive on the left in the UK and it is "they're" not "their" - okay, that's three things... but hey, I'm from Yorkshire :-) - ScribbleMcDraw, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Yorkshire ROCKS! Eddie was infact intoxicated at the time. It WASN'T photoshopped either, you try hacking google! Ahh, bored Yorkshire people, nothing better!
"I actually live in the next village down the road from Billingley, which is actually a very nice place to live -- old converted farm houses and such. Eddie is a legend, anyone want his e-mail?
The field in question is nearer to Middlecliffe / Little Houghton, which, by stark contrast, isn't a really good place to live... "
Ohhh you're only angry because we ruined your pretty field! :-D 3 YEARS AGO. (Although our village IS filled with a few smack heads and such, but I'm not one!) - z0rz, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0The above link doens't work on my PC .. it just redirects to http://maps.google.co.uk SOO I went to maps.google.com and searched the coordinates and it's still there... here's the link:
http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&hl=en&q=53.538535,-1.346812&t=k&ll=53.538535,-1.346812&spn=0.001122,0.00339&t=k - xNaquada, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0cool
- nuxx, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0check the wikipedia entry again....hehehe.
- cohman2001, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0@ daevus
I added the links to google maps to the wiki! - smoreorless, on 10/11/2007, -0/+0UK Release Dates - http://www.allreleasedates.co.uk
- burningheretic6, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Gold... solid gold.
- scott1, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I wonder want the farmer thinks of this
- TheDarkTipper, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0This is so awesome!
- ChasKnight, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Another Google anomaly. Just north of the Dallas Int. airport you will easily find 3 airplanes that have recently departed from the airport, and their shadows. To the north of that on the eastern edge of Grapevine lake you will find the shadows of
2 more aircraft, but no aircraft. Obviously aliens have abducted the planes so quickly that their shadows were left behind. - pmpsta, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Who's Eddie?
- moshguy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I once mowed the superman symbol in my yard (ya know for fun). Too bad the satellite wasn't over my house that day.
- squaat, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0@ lowrydr310
"Are all people in the UK 'geometrically challenged'?"
Well a couple of things. The UK farming areas are a lot older than the ones in the states, and well I'm not sure about you but I find following a winding country road much more interesting that driving forever on a a straight one. - psients, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0This is a hundred times funnier because it's in Yorkshire.
- Satellite1, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Haha, sweet... I was wondering when something like this would be discovered.
- Blujoe, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0i love the crop circle.
- Klrikcard, on 06/22/2008, -0/+0English Yorkshire sheep-shaggers, all of them the same
- Walmentheman, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0funny stuff
- sfcg, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0That's great. Gotta love the knacker that pulled that one off.
- hppyfngy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0or is it whole earth graffiti? that's much sadder
- andywhitt, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Thats not far from me at all, but the data that google earth is using for the Yorkshire region is around 3 years out of date.
- stimpack, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0andywhiit: my part of yorkshire is summer 2004, where my car is parked pinpoints it rather nicely.
- erkokite, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0If you look a little bit east to 53'31'54.40 N 1'21'24.39 W You can find a crop circle.
- Benny623, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I wanted to say it was fake, but it's there on Google earth and stuff...Whatever.
- rookieone, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Hahah....man this jus made my day, er nite....um...it jus made me laugh.
- hppyfngy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0awesome... whole earth tattoos for the aliens to fear
