- stonedthot, on 02/11/2008, -14/+94Why sue? Why not just ask google to change it, if it is in fact false.. Lawyers will inherit the earth if we keep up all this litigation
- FoxFaction, on 02/11/2008, -17/+83Everyone's so ***** offended all the time. Piss off, *****.
- nahsrocketeer75, on 02/11/2008, -3/+68Google reponds to city's complaint, saying basically: Not our fight.
http://www.networkworld.com/community/node/24920 - cheesejaguar, on 02/11/2008, -51/+92Palestinian revisionist history: The city of Tel Aviv was not founded on a desolate beach north of Jaffa, on land purchased from local arabs. Jews kicked the arabs out of their village! See? http://www.jewishvirtuallibrary.org/images/telaviv ... You can clearly see the arab village in this picture where Tel Aviv is today.
It is sad to see that people would resort to spamming Google Earth to spread propaganda and outright lies. - pintomp3, on 02/11/2008, -8/+37the internets must be anti-semitic.
- CraigJ, on 02/11/2008, -12/+40I'd like to sue israel-on-blog.com for ***** hosting...
- pintomp3, on 02/11/2008, -4/+31Not our fight... i wish we could take google's stance in our middle east policy.
- spyrochaete, on 02/11/2008, -2/+25Thanks for the clarification. The offending description was user-submitted content, ergo not Google's fault. Any local users from the region may submit their own content to resolve this issue. No need to get the law involved.
- NYankee2003, on 02/11/2008, -4/+23Someone please explain their cause of action here? You can't just sue because you're pissed off.
Also, Google's response:
While we recognize that some may find the user generated content objectionable, we are careful to balance the integrity of an open forum with the legal requirements of local governments. It looks as though this particular user-contributed annotation does not breach our Terms and Conditions nor is it in any way illegal.
The Google Earth community layer is a place where people can tag their knowledge or opinions of a location. Their comments are clearly indicated with the 'I' icon and this layer can easily be switched on and off.
We believe the majority of people use the community positively to share their expertise and experiences. In most cases, our users increase the utility of the product and provide a more meaningful and robust experience for each other with their contributions to the Google Earth community. - 1longtime, on 02/11/2008, -8/+24"Koranimals"?! WTF is wrong with you?
- ax0n, on 02/11/2008, -4/+19I shall play a very, very small violin for this very, very small city.
- inactive, on 02/11/2008, -5/+19I can say the same about the people who stereotype Palestinians.
I don't have a horse in this race tho. I think we should leave them ALL alone. - atbnet, on 02/11/2008, -7/+21Perhaps they should sue their host as well for crumpling under the Digg affect.
- norman619, on 02/11/2008, -3/+16Is that the full extent of your vocabulary?
- unpolloloco, on 02/11/2008, -1/+14you dont have to have a dictator to be a non-democratic state
- Ellipsys, on 02/11/2008, -9/+21AND we can start by having Israeli children taught that its not okay to take land by force in this day and age, shirk and ignore agreements on land use only a 1/2 of a century old, and to stop using cluster bombs on civilians because its "God's Will" That they have a homeland for their version of their religion. Both sides need to be chastised and forced to grow up.
- GhostyBoy, on 02/11/2008, -12/+24Is there a realistic way to resolve this ongoing conflict between Israel and Palestine?
I'm not going to pretend I know all the history, or who is revising what or who started it, but is there any end in sight? - Scrappy1850, on 02/11/2008, -4/+16Hey *****! i didn't get offended, so PISS THE ***** OFF!
- TheFiestyFaun, on 02/11/2008, -8/+20There us a reply button for a reason.
- D3koy, on 02/11/2008, -3/+14It's hardly even the Digg effect, more like a "Digg Mild Interest"
- Takteek, on 02/11/2008, -5/+16Yes... lets throw liberals into this.... Jerk.
- inactive, on 02/11/2008, -0/+11millions of Jews or Arabs are not going to go away, both sides need to accept that reality.
- DevilInPgh, on 02/11/2008, -11/+22Uh, that's the land auction held in 1905, held right on the beach and officiated by Meir Dizengoff. Do you know why Tel Aviv was founded in the first place anyways? Because Jaffa was getting too crowded and slummy. Heck, Tel Aviv was only meant to be a suburb of Jaffa originally anyways.
- bluesnowmonkey, on 02/11/2008, -0/+11I guess the easy answer is that they DIDN'T sue. The submission's title is incorrect. The story says that the city filed a complaint with police.
- evilunleashed, on 02/11/2008, -2/+13But isn't this story about Kiryat Yam, not Tel Aviv?
- krypritcmind, on 02/11/2008, -5/+16lol, ohnoes!
- quaxon, on 02/11/2008, -18/+28"Why sue..." because theyre jews.
- bjstiktrix, on 02/11/2008, -4/+14DUMB
- mahdaeng, on 02/11/2008, -1/+11How eloquent and profound!
- leexy, on 02/11/2008, -10/+20No. There's far too much pain, sufferings, memories of suicide bombers, F-16s and Merkava tanks to resolve the conflict.
Palestinians will never accept the scattered bantustan proposals. Israelis will never give up what they sacrificed so much for. - RationalCenter, on 02/11/2008, -0/+10Whether or not everything you say is true is irrelevant. The argument "You can't criticize Country A because you haven't said something critical about those awful people in Country B!" is balderdash. That's simply changing the subject. I have been an ardent supporter of Israel for all of my five decades of living, but that doesn't mean turning a blind eye to policies that violate moral standards, civil rights, or international law. Whether or not neighboring countries violate moral standards, civil rights, or international law isn't germane. What's worse, if we ignore Israel's behavior, then we have no credibility with those neighboring countries when we do criticize them, as we have done consistently for decades.
- drgmdp, on 02/11/2008, -3/+12must LOL....... stereotypes are funny
- orlyfactor, on 02/11/2008, -2/+11When someone disparages my city on Google Earth, I will not mind if the Israelis do not to care.
- FalseMyrmidon, on 02/11/2008, -1/+10Is there a mirror, site seems to be down.
- artisresistance, on 02/11/2008, -2/+11In the year 4008 people will be fighting over the same land they've already been fighting over for thousands of years. Each side will have their own version and/or interpretation of history, never actually knowing what transpired. Millions of people will die. That's pretty pathetic.
- noctu, on 02/11/2008, -0/+8your DNA should be regulated
- foopirata, on 02/11/2008, -1/+8As is Jordan, Iraq, Syria, Saudi Arabia...but I don't hear you asking for those to be wiped off the map.
- inactive, on 02/11/2008, -0/+7Mubarak has been president for nearly 30 years, sounds like a dictator to me. Corrupt elections do not make a true republic. And unlike the constitutional monarchies of the UK, Jordan's King still has absolute authority and sway at the end even if the day-to-day affairs are handled by the parliament.
- pintomp3, on 02/11/2008, -6/+13zionist is a race?
- dubrovins, on 02/11/2008, -5/+12sounds like the case of mondays
- sgtbutterscotch, on 02/11/2008, -2/+8What rights do Americans have to land that the Native Americans owned?
- sgtbutterscotch, on 02/11/2008, -5/+11You mean the British?
- unpolloloco, on 02/11/2008, -6/+12no
- inactive, on 02/11/2008, -42/+48A palistinian lie? Create propaganda? Impossible. /* sarc
- blackjack75, on 02/11/2008, -5/+11Please... Tell me you're a Mossad agent trying to make people who criticize Israel's actiong like a bunch of retards...
- zalzaw, on 02/11/2008, -11/+171. Why does it matter who is belonged to. You cannot just simply expel 700,000 people from their homes and claim that the land does not belong to them
2. So if that is the .. why doesn't Israel give back the land that was allocated to the Palestinians? Why did they assassinate the U.N. secretary general when he tried to get them to give the land back?
3. I am a Christian citizen of Jordan. Morocco, Yemen amongst others have small Jewish populations. Check you information please.
4. It is wrong from both sides to expel anyone. You can't justify wrong with wrong.
5. Israel desperately wants to keep its Jewish majority. that's why it is willing to accept anyone who is Jewish. Tell me: Why is an America Jew who has never lived or set foot in Israel able to go there and get immediate citizenship and rights while millions of Palestinians who live under Israeli occupation for generations barely have the right to move out of their towns and cities. If you are claiming the land, you have to take ti with its people as any other choice would be genocide.
6. Care to explain that? Who controls their movement? What passport or document do they have? Where were they born? Where were their ancestors born?
7. Fine.. you want to build a wall.. Build it on the 1967 borders.. Do not build a wall that makes a 15 minute ride to work into a 2 day trip! How about you visit the Palestinian towns and see the misery they live in. Why are there Jewish only roads?
8.Human rights are human rights!! Who gave you the right to give or take rights of other human beings?? Oh wait.. "they must barbaric cause they are Palestinian" .. right?
9. Thanks to the generous support that comes from the American govt these governments stay in place. Please change them!! Again, don't justify wrong with wrong.
10. How are Arabs killing Jews? Last time I checked, for every Jew that dies 80 Palestinians die in return. This is the sad truth. In the Lebanon war, 10 times as many Lebanese died as Israeli soldiers (guess what most of them civilian).
11. Unfortunately, your statement shows that you hate Arabs. Give Palestinians their rights, and all Jews will be welcome in every Arab house. - inactive, on 02/11/2008, -0/+6They do not live in "camps"
Gaza City is not a city of tents, it is a city of apartment complexes, restaurants, food markets, sounds like a city to me. - zalzaw, on 02/11/2008, -14/+20Why won't there be empty villages that were built on by jewish settlers? 700 thousand Palestinians where expelled in 1948. It would not have been possible to have a Jewish majority without expelling that many Palestinians. So it would only make sense that people were expelled and their land was built on.
- inactive, on 02/11/2008, -0/+6Only 2 dictators?
Hosni Mubarak
Bashar Assad
King Abdullah II of Jordan
King Abdullah of Saudi Arabia
And of course there was Saddam Hussein until he found himself at the end of a rope. - neko6, on 02/11/2008, -0/+6It's easy to teach love and peace, but while you're teaching peace, the guy who comes and preaches war and Jihad and promises virgins and triumph will take your pupils...
