- AmyVernon, on 07/01/2008, -0/+23i make no bones about it. i love lists. it's fun when you agree w/them and even more fun when you don't and can complain about how stupid the list-maker was because they forgot that darth vader is the most evil movie villain in history.
- inactive, on 07/01/2008, -1/+14add this to the "Top 10 Digg Submissions about Lists"
- inactive, on 07/01/2008, -0/+11Lists are an easy way to convey information especially with people have so little time to read anymore.
- inactive, on 07/01/2008, -1/+111. best list of lists ever
- JerichoSam, on 07/02/2008, -0/+7Love lists: they're such an efficient way to share information. And Top 10-type lists are just fun.
- chubbybubba, on 07/03/2008, -0/+7 I hate to outgeek you but Darth Vader was a GOOD guy. He brought balance to the force and utimately killed the emperor. (Sure he killed a few jedi kids and tortured his daughter but you can't blame a guy for having fun). (personally I think he also arranged the destruction of the original death star.)
- danib3, on 07/02/2008, -0/+6I'm such a sucker for lists!!!
They're easy to read, easy to pass around, and best of all - a great source of inspiration :-)
How many times have you read a good list and been struck with at least one excellent idea?! - theduckchaser, on 07/02/2008, -0/+6HOORAY ATTENTION DEFICIT DISORDER and its exploitability. But yeah, a top ten list is the ultimate pithiness, very useful when we've got so much scheisse to sift through.
- agsinger, on 07/02/2008, -0/+4also, at almost any given time, digg page 1 has a list on it (or several!)
- redslash, on 07/03/2008, -0/+4I especially enjoy top 5 and top 10 lists that include all the items on one page.
Hint hint. - redslash, on 07/03/2008, -0/+4Anything related to Digg = frontpage. (Extra credit for including a digg screenshot in the article.)
You can't fight it, people. - lambda, on 07/03/2008, -0/+3Diggers like lists, because a lot of diggers have Asperger's, based on my own scientific guesstimates.
- username7410, on 07/03/2008, -1/+4Oh look! This story ironically leads to a list!
This Account Has Exceeded Its CPU Quota

* Your account has consumed too much memory.
* Your site was recently very busy trying to run inefficient scripts. - solesoul, on 07/03/2008, -0/+2Hmmm, the author writes an article about lists, and includes links to several of his own....touché
- iPirate, on 07/03/2008, -0/+2Anybody else remember that show "The List" that was on VH1 back in '99-'00?
- ThatDustyGuy, on 07/03/2008, -0/+2Pro Tip: Try fitting list on one page. Otherwise some people will bitch and moan because of bandwidth concerns, ads, just being lazy, etc.
- ustice, on 07/04/2008, -0/+1I can't stand them. I found a clever greasemonkey script that allows you to filter stories on digg, but it didn't do everything that I wanted. So I rewired it! Filter stories by regex! Here is what I use:
site:theonion.com
regex:^/d+
regex:[tT]he d+
regex:d+ [bB]est
regex:d+ [tT]op
regex:d+ [wW]orst
regex:d+ [lL]amest
regex:d+ [tT]hings
regex:d+ [rR]easons
The original author is busy right now, and can't update it, but you can find my version here:
http://ustice.blogspot.com/2008/06/digg-story-filt ... - HCviolence, on 07/03/2008, -0/+1Other guilty pleasures
1. Apple rumors
2. irrelevant trivia about Kevin Rose
3.Yahtzee reviews we already know about.
4. *****
5. the combination of internet acronyms and cute animals(lolcats, rofllmaowtfbbq beaver) - travisMarc, on 07/03/2008, -1/+2How can he be even near the most evil when there was still good in him‽
He isn't even the most evil in his movie... - CheeseNRice, on 07/03/2008, -0/+1There should be a list of the ***** servers on the internet.
- PiffanyB, on 07/02/2008, -1/+2how?
- Jo9100, on 07/03/2008, -0/+1what about a list of these guilty pleasures?
- Khanvalescent, on 07/03/2008, -0/+1We like them because they don't stretch our collective short attention spans. Its also easier to jump back in after tabbing through four other windows, each also containing a list.
- hollywoodphony, on 07/02/2008, -1/+2Depressing.
- SemiSarcastic, on 07/03/2008, -0/+1*****warning this post is 100% opinion!****
Lists I can only take in small doses. I like to read, but if there's nothing specific as to why the things on that list are there in the first place (and I'm talking more than a paragraph) I can only see it as information that is meant to be consumed quickly and therefore is not worth the time. Also I don't see the point in feedback when it comes to lists anyway. You can only agree or disagree and with a pattern that predictable when it comes right down to it there's really no point in that either. - xtractor, on 07/03/2008, -0/+1no *****?
- hollywoodphony, on 07/02/2008, -1/+2The only way people can bother reading is if it's shrunken down into bite-size portions, categorized according to whatever the writer thinks is important?
- GJBlizzard, on 07/03/2008, -0/+1First of all, lists are a terrible way to convey information. They are an easy way to convey your opinion, but not information.
Secondly people don't have "so little time to read anymore." They just spend it doing other things, like commenting about how little time they have to read or reading lists on pointless topics. - A1VK1LLA, on 07/03/2008, -0/+1Someday in the future textbooks will be in list format.
- godmode, on 07/03/2008, -1/+1account suspended hah
- alsco, on 07/02/2008, -1/+1Lists & RSS...aaahhh...
- jibbajabba2, on 07/03/2008, -0/+0What I find the strangest is the arbitrary numbers that these lists come up with. Where the hell do they get them?
- paulwalker71, on 07/03/2008, -0/+0I'm a sucker for a good list, and read loads
What I'm getting sick of are lists that are thrown together with the sole purpose of trying to get on the front page of Digg - even ones that have no merit or are just plain stupid. Either come up with something witty, interesting or informative - or just don't bother.
