- Teradoc, on 06/12/2008, -2/+64Glad I didn't use any of them...if I wanted my Facebook page to look like Myspace, I'd have went to Myspace
- inactive, on 06/12/2008, -3/+44Serves them right.. Its like email spam, you'd think active facebook users would learn to stop accepting every little invitation they get from their friends, having 3891281 apps on their profile page. Its getting almost as bad as myspace.
- inactive, on 06/12/2008, -1/+25I like Facebook for seeing photos of last night and for planning events. I hate it for the number of awful applications and how bloated they've made what used to be a slick and quick website. Fix it Facebook.
- iDoraemon, on 06/12/2008, -0/+22Facebook was really great back before all these apps started going barbarian horde on my inbox. I just needed pics to check up on how my friends were doing and course schedules to see who shared the same classes as me to study with. Now my friends want me to rate their favorite movies or fling virtual poo at me. I miss old Facebook.
/get off my lawn - Nevermor7, on 06/12/2008, -8/+29I have 3 Facebook and 7 MySpace profiles........... one to match all my different personalities (*twitch*) Wanna be my friend (*twitch*)
- juzcallmeg0d, on 06/12/2008, -0/+13agreed!!!
facebook used to be a GREAT website! i loved it! the more and more its gotten like myspace, i can barely stand it. - itchyfeet, on 06/12/2008, -0/+8Gee.. This site gives me services, for FREE, and asks me to tick a box to allow my private information to become their property. I wonder how they make money.. Oh well.. Dum de dum..
- bgrah449, on 06/12/2008, -2/+10Every time I get an application invite from someone, I both block all invites for the application, and I also block all future invites from that person. The problem was solved pretty quickly.
- gametavern, on 06/12/2008, -7/+15we knew that when it says "it is ok to share my info with third parties?" or whatever, when you install each app. How is that unknowingly?
- funkdr, on 06/12/2008, -2/+10this is going to become more and more of a problem as they share your data
- JasonCox, on 06/12/2008, -0/+7Privacy? Facebook? Oh, you mean those pictures your girlfriend uploaded where she was drunk and clothing started falling off, yeah, most of us don't put anything personal on Facebook beyond our addresses and phone numbers which are all public information anyway.
- shoutingbrown, on 06/12/2008, -0/+7Presumably if you value your privacy, the first thing to do is join an extremely popular social networking site and then wonder why complete strangers keep sending you stupid videos.
- roomforpanic, on 06/12/2008, -1/+8I agree, but they won't fix it because, let's face it, people who think like us are in the minority. The truth is that the great unwashed masses see nothing wrong with myspace and only migrated to facebook because everyone else did. Most of them still maintain accounts on both sites. It's no surprise they've set up their crap on the lawn.
There are social networking sites for the uber elite of the interweb, such as virb, but if you want to stay in communication with the everyone else, there's not much choice. - davidrools, on 06/12/2008, -0/+6When the whole Facebook Apps thing opened up, I actually read through the terms and didn't like what I read about the App companies given access to whatever information on your profile. I like to leave my current contact info available to friends but not to marketers.
- RevEng, on 06/12/2008, -0/+5I don't understand why half of these applications even need access to personal data. Thankfully you have the option of choosing what data they can access. If I add an application, I always limit the hell out of it, and so far I've yet to have an application not work because of it.
In terms of privacy, posting something on Facebook is like pasting posters on the side of a building next to a busy street. Sure, people might not ever see it, but they can always find it if they want it and it will stay there for a long time.
It will probably take a generation or two, but we'll learn soon enough just how valuable our privacy is. When President's are haunted by adolescent drug experimentation, just imagine the media when there's an entire database full of people sucking on beer bongs just waiting to be picked from. - andrewbash, on 06/11/2009, -1/+6dugg down for automatic background music.
- YAOMTC, on 06/12/2008, -0/+5"If I wanted my Facebook page to look like Myspace, I would have went to Myspace"
Seems fine to me. - rootsm3, on 06/12/2008, -0/+5What kind of kiss are you? I'm a wet n sloppy!!! tehe
If your facebook page looks like that you need to look in the mirror and say aloud "I'm ridiculous. I'm a boob and I need to rethink my life." - inactive, on 06/12/2008, -1/+5Stop posting your personal information on every single website that asks for it, and you won't ever have this problem.
- evangelistc01, on 06/12/2008, -1/+5I'm glad I keep my page plain and simple. I have one application for last.fm, and that's it. I can't stand it when I go to a friends page, and it takes awhile to load because they clutter with all kinds of useless junk. I try to do a favor for people and keep it clean.
- chadarizona, on 06/12/2008, -0/+4I have an easy solution. I just block ALL application invites that I receive. The 7 or 8 applications that I actually use I added myself.
- biznatch11, on 06/12/2008, -0/+4/puts on grammar nazi uniform
*Gone* to MySpace...I'd have *gone* to MySpace.
/removes grammar nazi uniform - Linake, on 06/12/2008, -0/+4THIS JUST IN!! There are bad people on the Internet!
. . . - inactive, on 06/12/2008, -1/+5Dugg down even more for taking off your music cause a digg user told you so.
- zephyr42, on 06/12/2008, -1/+4The only "app" that I have on my Facebook is theSixtyOne radio plugin.
- lisaawesome, on 06/12/2008, -0/+3I think it is an acceptable way to say the phrase, but I think it sounds a little off because most people would have used the word gone rather than went. I had a foreign teacher back in HS who brought up the fact these words can often be used interchangeably but in some phrases using one for the other sounds really peculiar to native english speakers and she could never figure out why. Just food for thought.
- inactive, on 06/12/2008, -1/+4I know how to block all invites for an application, but how do you block all future invites for a particular person? That would definitely be handy for some people.
- Zippo, on 06/12/2008, -1/+4This is why I block application invites... With the exception of a small handful, I've avoided the applications ever since they were release. The vast majority of them are pure garbage and just make your profile unsightly anyways.
- inactive, on 06/12/2008, -1/+3Discovery of the Century:
unknowing? Do you not click a little checkbox or a little message that says " allow this program to access your personal data" before you add it on to your facebook profile??? I could be wrong but hey ! not the first time! - Linake, on 06/12/2008, -0/+2I think so, too. I actually just discovered the other day that you can click the "Wall" icon under the person's picture (it's green with quotation marks on it) and it will take you directly to the wall. Same goes for every application they have. It's been saving me tonnes of time lately, since quite a few of my friends insist on applying what seems like EVERY widget to their page.
I hope this saves you some time, too *^_^* Though reading this long explanation probably didn't help with time management. . . - inactive, on 06/12/2008, -1/+3notice the "? " moron, your mom should have suffocated you with a pillow before you got over 300 pounds playing second life... quick let me make some numbers in my name to sound cool!!!
I guess not all apps have the same access to the API?
Wow if one program can access your private data then im sure all of them have the "inherent" (haha) ability too by writing a few lines of code? Don't be mad because you got dupped into some anime porn facebook app! It must have stole your identity and your mom's credit card to your online video game account. - jpwalsh1, on 06/12/2008, -0/+2So dont install the apps, it's simple...
- inactive, on 06/13/2008, -0/+2my comment has "reflection" in it , there is no need for another analytical response that puts you down again. Can't even argue your original post eh? guess I was right? I'll shout you some links if you want to study up before commenting again ... hahah
- minorthreat, on 06/12/2008, -1/+3dude that is so last month...
- Verdanic, on 06/13/2008, -0/+1That's not as much of an issue anymore at all. I've gotten maybe one this week. I used to get a couple a day at least. It's gotten a lot easier to ignore them.
- caseycoold, on 06/12/2008, -0/+1I keep my facebook page like a resume. Some boss tries to find out if I have any dirt online, and they get a bunch of self-generated propaganda.
Mwahaha. I win. - TripleAStacked, on 06/12/2008, -1/+2How is it flashy? It's ridiculous that i have to scroll down for miles to post on someones wall.

- RMoore08, on 06/13/2008, -0/+1This might be cliche but I am going to say it anyways.... myspace sucks...
- HairyFotr, on 06/12/2008, -0/+1last month 25 years ago.
- bincoder, on 06/12/2008, -0/+1So a major corporation is making enormous profit by showing your face and sharing your information? That sounds... less than useless.
If some company wanted me to share myself with the world, first I would say 'and who made You GOD?' second, being a reasonable person, I would accept a fee of my own definition as an outside contractor. If the big corporation can make millions off me or others like me, they can also pay for the privilege.
People really must start teaching their kids a little greed. Greed and suspicion is good and protective. No matter what the likes of Disney or whoever like to teach. - SmallZee, on 06/12/2008, -0/+1dugg for making my plug in save me
- inactive, on 06/13/2008, -0/+1Ok, now I see how to block all future invites from a particular person. It's a link that appears next to the "Block this application" link when you look at your requests page. However, your comment implies that you are able to do both for the same application request. When I click one of those links, however, the whole request goes away making me unable to click the other link.

- JackBiller, on 06/13/2008, -1/+2Facebook is *****
STOP USING IT MORONS - RMoore08, on 06/13/2008, -0/+1Dugg down because you asked to be dugg up.
Its a cruel world huh dasilva333? On digg, you can never win. - RudeTurnip, on 06/12/2008, -1/+1This would never happen on Pownce or Twitter...well, maybe Twitter...
