- biggy83, on 04/03/2009, -3/+111Dear AT&T,
I'm talking to you from a third world country called the UAE. In this country, our telecommunication company Etisalat offers up to 16 Mbps of internet with "Real" "unlimited" download and upload. Why is it such a pain in your ***** asses to offer your nation unlimited internet without all the lies and fake advertisments? What kind of ***** up mentality are you guys trying to force on people? Your company is running in one of the greatest nations on this planet, but all you do is ruin it for your people and give an ugly picture to other nations around the world.
In my third world country, No contract warns me of downloading pirated movies or any of this crap talk, simply because this is the ***** internet! We do have rules here and we sure have strict rules against theft, but when I use my ***** torrent client I'm expected to use it to the max and download whatever I like, without limitations and fake download rates. The internet must not be treated like a Wal-mart.
Listen to your people AT&T or else, you are *****.
Yours,
An Internet User from the other part of the world. - crsd36, on 04/03/2009, -0/+82……………./´¯/)

SUCK MY DICK YOU IDIOTS - inactive, on 04/03/2009, -0/+24WTF, this is the same company that sells the iPhone that has had a built-in YouTube player since launch. I'm sure they thought "downloading legally acquired songs" covered them for the iTunes Store, but man, I can't wait for the leaked transcript for their upcoming phone call with Cupertino.
- JasonCox, on 04/03/2009, -1/+15That should read:
Angry mob: +1 AT&T: 0
:-) - inactive, on 04/03/2009, -1/+14I find it strange that a company with shareholders, employees, customers, etc. refuse to grow with technology and make their products and services better. Whatever happened to putting money back into the company and infrastructure to make it better?
Just take a look at the "hot deals" that Comcast offers to new subscribers but forgets the customers that have loyally (or because of a lack of options) subscribed for years. After my three months of low subscriptions with them, I canceled because there just wasn't a reason to stay with them or some deal to look forward to down the road.
Now, it looks like AT&T is headed down the same path. - peterdangit, on 04/03/2009, -1/+12As soon as G2 comes out I'm saying bye bye to AT&T. It's been nothing but downhill since they bought Cingular; time to move on.
- Super6, on 04/03/2009, -0/+8You have 16mbps internet on your phone?
- redwire, on 04/04/2009, -0/+7Its true the ACCC is a pretty good balance to things.
But we still are in big trouble both as users and an industry by having technologically ignorant yet still self self righteous people like Stephen Conroy making rules about our infrastructure.
I honestly don't understand why its so hard to have a requirement for a ministerial position be that you have expertise of the systems you are supposed to be looking after. - theviceroy, on 04/04/2009, -0/+7They have a fancy man-made island in the shape of one.
- Philbert, on 04/03/2009, -0/+6Maybe I'm wrong, I thought streaming video was supposed to be a big feature of iPhone OS 3.0
- stix213, on 04/04/2009, -0/+6AT&T offers great reliable mobile Internet service... as long as you don't try to use it, because everything you want to do with it is banned.
- Pecheckler, on 04/03/2009, -0/+6The United States will be a lot more ***** that the UAE will be when "the oil runs out"
Only if the UAE's oil runs out a decade before Saudi Arabia's, Canada's, and Iraq's oil runs out, will the US be able to boast. - slapded, on 04/04/2009, -0/+6Good, now the've updated the contract, I can cancel without any termination fees. ***** YOU!
- Dougman82, on 04/03/2009, -1/+7So, why exactly can't these cell providers change their business models to be simple wireless ISP's? Ditch the whole airtime and per-kb *****. Just give us a bandwidth and/or data cap with a flat monthly rate. If I want to use my bandwidth talking on the phone with your service, fine. If I choose to use skype, fine. If I choose to just download videos all day, fine. If I choose to send text messages to everyone, fine. Is that too much to ask?
- protonone, on 04/03/2009, -4/+9Buried. They already sent out a retraction to this saying that they were in error.
- tao52nyc, on 04/04/2009, -1/+6Too little too late. The fact that they even THOUGHT of it was sufficient.
- Myztry, on 04/03/2009, -0/+4In Australia communcation providers have to be careful about what they offer and what they provide. We have the government ACCC which prosecutes companies trying to reem the consumer.
I was in the process to disconnecting a few old TPG ADSL accounts (become too big for their own good) and came across an example of the ACCC's work.
http://www.tpg.com.au/correctivenotice.php - As stated the ACCC rulings are legally enforceable. - doshindude, on 04/03/2009, -1/+5Didn't they recently just say that they were against the RIAA trying to persuade them to disconnect people or do stuff like this? Talk about doing a 180.
- Toon, on 04/04/2009, -0/+4AT&T, WT&F?
- tao52nyc, on 04/04/2009, -0/+3Another reason not to go to ATT....I DO wish iPhone wasn't saddled with it.
- MacEnvy, on 04/04/2009, -0/+3Stalinist, you just don't get it. He was using "third world country" sarcastically, since many Americans would think of a backwards place when they hear UAE, but they still have much better Internet access than much of the US. He wasn't actually saying that it is a third world country.
You just need to recalibrate your sarcasm meter. It's stuck on "kneejerk". - EGOvoruhk, on 04/03/2009, -0/+3You have such an awesome username, why must you spam? :-(
Big Baaaaaaadda Boom - peestandingup, on 04/04/2009, -0/+3And did you miss the part where I said "they HARDLY pull ***** like this"??
No phone company is perfect & they're all pretty scummy. T-Mo is just the least scummy IMO. - teh_techie, on 04/04/2009, -0/+3Saying "least scummy" is like saying "has the least amount of ***** smeared all over it". I wouldn't want to be near either of them.
- notman, on 04/04/2009, -1/+4Yeah, it was put there 'in error'. BS, as usual, they didn't expect anyone to notice.
- Plan8Podcast, on 04/03/2009, -3/+6I think only this animated gif can show how much I applaud AT&T for their true ass doucheryness to stick it too the lowly End Users / Customers ...

BRAVO, BRAVO ASS HATS! - inactive, on 04/03/2009, -0/+2Soooo, how's that iPhone on AT+T?
- evergrim, on 04/04/2009, -0/+2Australian broadband is shocking man. Crappy speeds, high prices and download caps.
- teh_techie, on 04/04/2009, -0/+2It's the least profitable business model, so yes... it's too much to ask of them unfortunately.
- peestandingup, on 04/04/2009, -0/+2No, actually its like getting ***** in the ass. Would you rather have it gently with lots of lube OR by a guy hung to his knees ramming it in balls deep with no lube while you scream in agony??
Yes, getting F'ed in the A sucks either way, but still. If its a must, I'll choose option one. - MacEnvy, on 04/04/2009, -0/+2I read it again ... nope, still you.
- peestandingup, on 04/03/2009, -0/+2Makes me glad I haven't given in to iPhone temptation & moved from T-Mobile.
Yeah, we dont always have the best phones or data coverage, but they're a reputable company who hardly pulls ***** like this that I dont mind giving my money to every month. I feel like they actually want to save me money. Cant say that about the other companies I've been with (basically been with all of them at some point). - Myztry, on 04/04/2009, -0/+2Ministers often go from something like sports to a technology portfolio. That's the sucky things about our government. It's still weak to affiliations bias.
That's the same problem the US is having. To have the ACCC or similar to work properly - you need good laws for them to enforce. I still think we are way ahead in that respect though.
The reason is like Viruses on Windows. US laws are vulnerable because they are a desirable target for Corporations. Where lesser platforms/government tend to get overlooked due to ROI. - St0rmShad0w, on 04/04/2009, -0/+2While i agree with you, you have to admit the UAE is like about the size of Rhode Island.
- nextekcarl, on 04/04/2009, -0/+2They probably ran it through google translate first. It has become quite good lately.

- inactive, on 04/04/2009, -0/+2Not so fast bud:
http://www.engadget.com/2009/04/03/atandt-retracts ... - teh_techie, on 04/04/2009, -0/+2If you're using the VPN over that same connection you're complaining about, you're still using the same bandwidth, unless you're remote desktopping to your office or home computer to do the downloads instead...??
- Asrrin29, on 04/03/2009, -1/+3Thank god, I was going to call them up and bitch about this. I've been using AT&T for a while now, and I specifically switched to them for the unlimited dataplan they offered. If they had tried to make me sign this new ToS, under michigan law I could refuse the renegotiation and not pay termination charges.
- moosejaw99, on 04/03/2009, -0/+2Best Ascii Ever.
- sl33stak, on 04/04/2009, -1/+3Will this ***** w/ Qik in any way? I LOVE my Qik!
- Anightowl, on 04/04/2009, -0/+2Speak with your wallets-take your business elsewhere. As long as the customer puts up with it, it'll keep getting worse so they can expand their profit margin from large to omfg.
- arj7297, on 04/04/2009, -1/+3does this mean that I can get out of my current contract, since they changed the TOS?
- phosphor112, on 04/04/2009, -1/+3Either way, those ***** need to stop trying to give them self stds, no one will like it with their ***** stupid ass policies.
- BuenoCabra, on 04/03/2009, -2/+4Pretty sure "third world country" isn't what we call "bragging."
- Rockyn, on 04/04/2009, -0/+1Damn with an N FTW!! I ***** hate when people use two m's !!!!
