- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -1/+193Since I have Verizon, I'll can say AT&T sucks without fear of interrupted service and you can anonymously digg my comment for support.
Likewise, if someone makes a comment stating that Verizon sucks, I'll promise to digg your comment to. :) - notque, on 10/10/2007, -11/+92Corporations will do whatever they'd like to us as long as we continue to pay them. As long as we continue to allow them to treat us as human beings devoid of freedom.

- Wargalas, on 10/10/2007, -3/+66Verizon sucks!
- logicalnoise, on 10/10/2007, -3/+61sounds like an easy to get out of your contract.
- zioxide, on 10/10/2007, -3/+51"AT&T.. the network with the fewest dropped calls"
only because you can never get service to make them in the first place. - BigW, on 10/10/2007, -1/+37I was screwed over by AT&T over two years ago. They actually cashed my check for my bill and promptly applied it to the wrong account. They even had the gall to send a collection agency after me!!! After we got the state attorney general involved and send them verification of our cashed check, they finally relented and applied our payment to our bill even though they couldn't find where they put my money. And they have received exactly 0 payments since then from me. I had been a 15 year customer, and they lost me because they made mistake and tried to blame it on me.
Always take your business elsewhere if you get screwed over by a company, always. - SocialPoison, on 10/10/2007, -2/+30I have Verizon... and they suck ass.
- aliengoods, on 10/10/2007, -3/+29insightful, yet compelling.....tell us more
- objectcode, on 10/10/2007, -14/+39***** AT&T
- QuickeningYak, on 10/10/2007, -2/+22I wouldn't ***** on AT&T to put out the fire.
- williamdyer, on 10/10/2007, -1/+16Now that AT&T is in the business of watching what is carried on their service, they become a publisher, and are responsible for the content carried on their network. Seems like the lawyer that came up with that 1Am3ness should be fired for exposing AT&T to crushing liability.

- wherl78, on 10/10/2007, -2/+12They had to drop that slogan because it wasn't true.

F*CK YOU AND YOUR HORRIBLE SERVICE! I cannot get a lick of service in my home, and the best you can do is tell me "we cannot guarantee our service". So please, I'm criticizing you, so terminate my service without a cancellation fee. - inactive, on 10/10/2007, -4/+13***** AT&T, no wait, Cingular, no AT&T, no Cingular... AHHHh ***** it...
- austin63, on 10/10/2007, -12/+21I have to agree with the comments by ars. This is most likely a over eager attorney beefing up the language in the terms of service. Digg this up and it will likely get removed.
- 10001110101, on 10/10/2007, -2/+11While the ars article makes it seem like the "conduct" is limited to online activites, nowhere in the TOS is that mentioned. Basically, if you're holding a picket sign that says "AT&T SUCKS", and they see it & know your name, you're SOL.
- Korexz, on 10/10/2007, -0/+9Avoid Verizon too. They outright lied to me when they changed their text message rates (which DOES nullify your current contract - Material Change). When I called to find out about starting a new contract (so I could get a new phone at a discount) they told me that I had to cancel my current contract after the first of the month when the change was to take place. If you read the fine print you had to cancel your account BEFORE that deadline. So I escalated to a 1st line supervisor, who then told me again that I had to cancel after the deadline. Then I confronted the supervisor with the information and he tried to lie some more. So I asked to speak to his supervisor. First he lied... again, and then agreed that the deadline was the first of the month, and that after that I could not cancel my account without a cancellation fee. After all of this non-sense I told me to give me a half hour and I would find a new carrier and port my number out. Went to T-Mobile, got a new contract, ported my number (which Verizon tried to block). Called Verizon back to confirm my number had been ported out, and to confirm I would NOT get billed for cancellation... 2 weeks later I got a bill for the 2 lines I cancelled. Had to spend the next month getting it cleared up.
In the end they are all lairs and swindlers. I have been with Cingular, AT&T, Sprint, Verizon, and now T-Mobile. Thus far (6 months in) TMOB has been better than the others. - octophobic, on 10/10/2007, -2/+11Now Ireland is going after them for the "More bars in more places" slogan.
- Ryosen, on 10/10/2007, -3/+12Because it's ever so much more important to prevent duplicate submissions on Digg than corporate abuse.
- magamiako, on 10/10/2007, -2/+10Unfortunately this is another misconception about first amendment rights within the United States. People really need to read up on what the constitution "truly" gives them. Then they need to decide if they want a government that extends these constitutional rights to personal businesses (more government control) or if they want a government that supports the dismantling of rights via the use of "private businesses" (less government control).
Clarification of what the first amendment allows in this case:
You can talk ***** about AT&T all you want. The government isn't going to stop you. There's not going to be any military troops busting down your doors or interrogations by police for talking ***** about AT&T. However, this does not require AT&T to provide you service if they don't want to. - inactive, on 10/10/2007, -7/+14SUCK MY NUTS AT&T
- hartley, on 10/10/2007, -2/+8AT&T has the worst serv
- aliengoods, on 10/10/2007, -2/+7True, but if they do this wouldn't that threaten their common carrier status? Then they risk getting sued by everyone who's had negative comments posted about them over AT&T's network. Are they really that stupid?
- willcoll, on 10/15/2007, -2/+7no but a blogger with a gripe for ATT can lose his account.
- snapcase, on 10/10/2007, -0/+5As a current customer of AT&T, I proudly say ***** AT&T. Their service is horrible, my connection has been dropping out randomly for a couple weeks and they never know why, they have ***** for speeds and yet they charge as though they didn't. So yea I guess it bears repeating.... ***** AT&T!!!!!!!
- mangusp57, on 10/10/2007, -1/+6If I were renting you space on my property and you started using it to post signs that made disparaging remarks about me I'd cancel your lease and kick you off my property. Be sure there would be a clause in the lease agreement to that effect. And there would be a clause forbidding the use of my property for illegal purposes. How can you expect AT&T to do differently? Getting the government involved (net neutrality) is just crazy. (And if you don't like the copy right laws -and I don't- blame congress not AT&T)
- r0b1, on 10/10/2007, -5/+10This is standard, run-of-the-mill legalese. Submitter is making a big assumption that if you criticize the company, your account gets terminated. Even if this were the case, customer could easily win a suit against AT&T on grounds of free speech. Inaccurate.
- mstoneburner, on 10/10/2007, -1/+6Daddy said never trust a man with two first names.
- mahdroo, on 10/10/2007, -0/+5Man, AT&T has SO disappointed me. When my phone got dropped in a pool I left Verizon and got an iPhone with AT&T. Compared to Verizon I get crap reception. The bars on my phone seem to totally lie. They go from 0 to full and back within a second. What kind of B.S. is that? I live in Hollywood. Freaking LA, the second largest city in the country, and I can't get reception? WTF?!! Verizon had the most amazing coverage EVERYWHERE I went. And sometimes I don't get voicemail for half an hour. Are you kidding me? And they are telling me I can't defame their service? I am not defaming it. I am telling it like it is. Their service is a HUGE disappointment. Stick with Verizon. At least in my part of the world.
- GreenAlien, on 10/10/2007, -0/+5Good thinking! Urinating would be easier
- MiDri, on 11/14/2007, -0/+5Um... yes It kind of does in this case... All they have to do is mention it in their contract that you are not allowed to say bad things about them or the service is void. It's fully enforceable.
The constitution only protects us from the government (HA!) not corporation and/or other people. - EarlOfLade, on 10/10/2007, -5/+10Get used to it, esp if people vote for Ron Paul. This and worse will be the result. Good luck!
- neoform, on 10/10/2007, -2/+7Just wait till AT&T starts putting clauses in their terms of service that say you must pay a fine every time you harm their business through negative comments.
- gak001, on 10/10/2007, -2/+6Congrats, you get to be *that* guy. How long have you waited and what do you think you'll do now that you have achieved this coveted position?
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4In other news: "The FORD motor company has threaten to disable the vehicles of any customer who dare to criticize the company..." (Via "OnStar" or similar satellite communication system)... Now that would be really funny!
- laserdog, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4There are a surprising number of people in a situation with only one broadband provider.
That advice isn't particularly useful to them. - supercat, on 10/10/2007, -2/+6All I can say is that you very carefully review your bill with them, they make easy money by screwing up your bill and it is up to you to catch them - they've done it to me both on my LAN phone, and wireless. Their customer service responded to me when I asked what would happen if I blindly paid the excessive charges, "many people do pay without checking... It is up to them to figure it out...we do not have any mechanism in place to protect you." Funny how these "errors" never benefit me?!
- wshs, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3They are the sole provider of certain services in certain areas. This is a monopoly.
- exclusive control of a commodity or service in a particular market, or _a control that makes possible the manipulation of prices_
- a market in which there are many buyers but only one seller (ie: phone service in x city, usa)
- monopoly is characterized by an absence of competition
- Of, relating to, or being a market in which there is a single seller of a particular good or service. For example, electric utilities nearly always operate in monopoly markets.
I'll stop here for brevity. AT&T fulfills all of these conditions, and fulfilling any one makes it a monopoly. I'm glad you're so happy to bend over for Papa Bell, but the rest of aren't, and the rest of us want the government to control the abuse. - BrownV, on 10/10/2007, -2/+5I hope there are grounds for a law suit
- chuckbo, on 10/10/2007, -3/+6I think you're confused about being able to win a free speech case. AT&T isn't the government.
- z3rgRush, on 10/10/2007, -2/+5It's because we're outside their monkey sphere. :(
- delrin500, on 10/10/2007, -6/+9SCREW AT&T They should be broken back up into smaller companies AGAIN! Apparently given enough time, money and enough bastard politicians they were able to rebuild themselves.
- poppieprong, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3Not true. My apartment complex forces me to use AT&T for internet and landline. I cannot use another company.
- MiDri, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3You would be correct, however the government works hand in hand with AT&T and would forgive any "transgression" that might fall any other company that gave up their common carrier status.
- matthafling, on 10/10/2007, -3/+6Did any of you tards actually read the article? It's about AT&T's DSL service. NOT phone service.
- subliminalurge, on 10/10/2007, -6/+9"buried as dupe"
I wasn't online the other day, and I missed the original article. I'm glad it got posted again.
Your comment buried as the ramblings of an idiot with no life. - FreakyD, on 10/10/2007, -13/+16Sorry folks but I bet you can find that in pretty much any TOS agreement. You are CHOOSING to pick a fight with AT&T cause your pissed about the iPhone.
Any company has the right to protect their company name and reputation.
But go ahead and digg me down, I know you want to. - plizard, on 10/10/2007, -2/+5sprint is good as far as service but boy do i miss rollover minutes.
