    Don't you realize most of us hate comments like these? I'm not digging the article either, but it DOES belong here.

    ADSL in my area runs at 3mbps and is 40% cheaper than cable. Not only that but it's a dedicated line - unlike cable so my rate is constant.

  • StarDal, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Those who are confused by the continued existence of AT&T really need to go to http://www.sbc.com/gen/press-room?pid=4800&cdvn=news&newsarticleid=21906 and find out about the buyout of AT&T Corp to form AT&T Inc.

    And, though it may be off topic, in regards to JetWingX's question.. though Cingular did buy AT&T Wireless, this recent merger could mean that Cingular could be named back to AT&T Wireless or something similar. Cingular is a Joint Venture of SBC (60%) and Bellsouth and BellSouth hasn't objected to the notion yet.

    Is it just me or will "Ma Bell rise again"?

    Is most markets, SBC is changing their name to AT&T because of name recognition.
  • StarDal, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0What's really interesting is that when AT&T 'divested' itself of the cable business, it still maintained operation of much of the HSI infrastructure and services and merely sold access rights to it (I work for one of those companies and deal with ATT on a regular basis).

    So now, "SBC/ATT" DSL is going to be competing with "ATT/(SBC)" maanged cable.

    Conflict of interest?

    SBC= AT&T , they've merged back together now. Ah the fun times in San Francisco for the ballpark.

    And I remember when the Cable got switched over, turned on tv and noticed it no longer said AT&T but Comcast, instead.

    i though all 3 parts were acquired be different companies already
    AT&T Phone ---> PacBell ---> SBC
    AT&T Cable ---> Comcast
    AT&T Wireless ---> Cingular

    i don't know if thats a california thing, but i though all of AT&T was acquired.... and Here in Cali, AT&T is already technically par of SBC and has been for over a decade....
