- gwjc, on 10/12/2007, -2/+10Congrats msaleem, capn-caveman and schestowitz; you all contributed a lot to this place. Best of luck, and be sure to drop back in now and again and give us a digg!
- msaleem, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7Thanks gwjc. I wish everyone responds the the news just like you have. Also, we will most certainly be coming to digg now and again.
- amix, on 10/12/2007, -2/+6After some thought I think it's the natural path. Top submitters attract users by finding and promoting top stories - - this is of course VERY valuable for a news site. So, it's really a natural step that can be a bit weird, because "we" aren't used to the idea.
- DarknessGP, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Interesting, setting aside my horrid dislike of netscape. I think paying top submitters can be a good idea. I wouldn't say great. As there are major flaws. For one if everyone know that the top 10, no matter who they are get $X a month then it'll be hard to keep your spot as one of the top 10. Not to mention they fact that people will be spamming the site with dupes and just plain ***** stories hoping to rise in the ranks. There is a reason netscape's traffic has doubled, not because they are offering good stories, but you have people flooding the site hoping to make a quick and easy buck.

NOTE: This whole "paying folks to bookmark" thing is an experiment. We could cancel the program at any time for any reason. We might expand it at any time--who the heck knows, it's an experiment! We're not gonna hire everyone, in fact we are going to hire very few folks--it's an experiment. We can't guarantee anything--this is an experiment (did I mention this is an experiment?). In order to be considered send your user account information to CK (at) weblogsinc.com (i.e. your newsvine, reddit, delicious, digg, netscape accounts), and be a productive member of the community. We want to hire from the community as much as possible... but this is an experiment and we reserve the right to cancel the program at any time for any reason. (yes, the legal department wants me to be very clear about things if you have not noticed. :-) - timmyboywonder, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3I bet as soon as Nutscrape becomes more popular they will get rid of all of the people that they are paying
- AhmedF, on 10/12/2007, -3/+2note? :)
