- AlexFerny, on 10/12/2007, -1/+28They cant sue over "09-F9-11-02-9D-74-E3-5B-D8-41-56-C5-63-56-88-C0", once a trade secret is in the public domain, it is no longer protected - only the original person to leak it can be sued.
The "key" "09-F9-11-02-9D-74-E3-5B-D8-41-56-C5-63-56-88-C0" is not copyrightable nor is it a trademark of any sorts - its nothing more than a "trade secret" - now the law on trade secrets states that once it is public, anyone can publish it and its not illegal - guess digg needs some lawyers. digg also have no responsibility to pro-actively censor topics, as under DMCA they are not responsible for what thier users post - they simply have to comply with a DMCA (but in this case, DMCA is not aplicable due to the above info). - ZeroMP, on 10/12/2007, -2/+27What crack?
Edit: Oh thaaaaaaat crack.

- z00kus, on 10/12/2007, -2/+16We can start off with this: http://www.deviantart.com/deviation/54370233/ (It's small but it get's the point accross)
As for AACS/MPAA/RIAA/Digg: Once something is on the internet, there is no way to get it off. - TyroPyro, on 10/12/2007, -0/+13Sending out more DCMA notices is about as dumb as Digg trying to censor dissent on this user-driven website. See Slashdot.

i like bleach... - fintler, on 10/12/2007, -0/+11Ironically I smashed a bunch of keys on my keyboard this morning and came up with something very similar:

What an amazing, completely unrelated coincidence :) - ludwik, on 10/12/2007, -0/+10> What's now needed is to spread the word about the AACS crack using a viral campaign.
You can open your Firefox's about:config, add "general.useragent.extra.firefoxComment" key and put the # there, so it goes to the logs of every web server hosting sites you open. As you know many such logs are public. - Schug, on 10/12/2007, -1/+10I forgot who said it but, "Posting stuff on the internet is like peeing in a public swimming pool..."
- pinab, on 10/12/2007, -2/+10Censor this!

those are colors using the hex values - i had that idea as well but glad to see someone else has already done it! - 09F911029D74E3, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5True. Something similar happened with DeCSS a few years ago and now copying DVD's is child's play.

And, of course, now I'm gonna get dugg down. - astx813, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Apologies if someone else has already thought of this, but is anyone else reminded of the PGP export issue and the t-shirts? I'd totally wear one (and I'd do so overseas when I go to London next week!)
- slugicide, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Yeah, 'cause what this world needs is less freedom!
- GuyHitByTruck, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1OP, you have your viral campaign all over Digg now. I hope you're happy, cuz I'm sure as hell pissed. Digg is totally useless at this point.
- ij00mini, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3You forgot 88 C0 in the first 300 picture.
- robohoe, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1@z00kus
Your account is banned, as well as mine. - ElectricKetchup, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Is that the private key for the CA? or is it a shared key? it seems way to small to be a private key.... DSA or RSA.... I don't really remember how AACS works... I just know it's the reason why I haven't bought any blu-ray or HDDVD disks. Once I can buy a movie and play it on whatever TV screen I want then I won't be forced to piraracy to watch it in full HD.
- peciv, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1This has been a great class (too bad we are in finals now). Anyway, the purpose of the blog was to be a starting place for class discussions every week. You can read the full blog here: http://uscpwned.blogspot.com/
- rhyss, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2I read the following passage and it is so true, especially today:
First they came for the hackers.
But I never did anything illegal with my computer,
so I didn't speak up.
Then they came for the pornographers.
But I thought there was too much smut on the Internet anyway,
so I didn't speak up
Then they came for the anonymous remailers.
But a lot of nasty stuff gets sent from anon.penet.fi,
so I didn't speak up.
Then they came for the encryption users.
But I could never figure out how to work PGP anyway,
so I didn't speak up.
Then they came for me.
And by that time there was no one left to speak up.
- Alara Rogers
Stick it to the man!
http://www.zazzle.com/product/128182668970288760 - myfanwy, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1the html values of each colour probably represent the numbers in the code.
very smart
edit: damn, too late - Timmmm, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1AACS is *not* a total failure. Sure at the moment, it has been completely circumvented, but they haven't used any of the key revocation methods yet. When they do the current processing key will be useless anyway (for new discs).
The real test will be if the new WinDVD/PowerDVD device keys can be found. I suspect it will be a lot harder this time around. - Kyderdog, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1You know if you rot13 the code it will be different, It might just change the letters but it is different code then....
- Wootery, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1b6662966 is a troll.

http://xptweak.net - nemobushido, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Free speech rocks, but Cory's material has never been more than completely worthless drivel. The Sci-fi writer wannabe can't carry a plotline or meaningful dialogue for *****, and just pretends his cop-out story endings have some kind of justifiable avant garde style.
- ender30043, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1@ij00mini
I have something similar I made for an avatar, http://img113.imageshack.us/img113/2415/hddvdit5.png. Look at the html color code for each region left to right row by row, concatenate together and drop any 00 values. (0000 at end from JohnA and 00 at beginning and end of mine). - ij00mini, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2I don't get it.
- iPwn, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Piracy sucks. Stop with the code, it is ruining Digg. Grow up.
