- nickj6282, on 10/12/2007, -1/+65Damn, and I thought I was cool making $10 a lawn when I was 10 years old. I don't even make that much now and I work in a Fortune 500 IT department!
- Ramble, on 10/12/2007, -0/+60When he kicks your arse don't bother coming back on here.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+47With that much money an hour he must be trying to save up for a PS3.
/joke - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+47The taxman cometh.
- shiftt, on 10/12/2007, -0/+28he'll be 16 by the time it's finally released..
- jdawg19, on 10/12/2007, -3/+21I would like to challenge him.
- dpchi, on 10/12/2007, -1/+18The real question is, it he also explaining to adults what it means to be pwnd?
- Crizack, on 10/12/2007, -2/+19There is a market for this?
- wtfdaemon, on 10/12/2007, -0/+16Hmm, maybe it's time to shop around that job market, buddy.
Unless by "I work in the IT Dept. at a Fortune 500 company" you mean "I sweep the server room and try to talk shop with the tech guys who seem like they're humoring me while they try to ignore me".
Less than 25 an hour in this industry means you're either an intern, utterly unskilled, living in India or dramatically poor at setting salary negotiations appropriately. - NuttySquirrel, on 10/12/2007, -1/+16" Victor began playing video games when he was 2 years old.
"He was crying a little bit, so I gave him the console to play with," De Leon recalled.
It was like Pac Man gobbling a power pellet."
Pac-Man, FTW. - RandomGuySteve, on 10/12/2007, -2/+16Wow.. the kid could have mastered the violin, or started at some private magnet school, but I'm sure he'll be so proud of his life when he looks back and tells people "You know, I used to kick ass at Halo" and they ask "Whats Halo? Where's my fries?"
But then again I'll just shut up because I am jealous of him getting to play halo in second grade. I had to wait till I was in college before I got to play halo. - SuperSunny, on 10/12/2007, -2/+16He is amazing, I've seen him online. He truley is fantastic, almost a miracle how someone is able to be so good at such a young age. He plays with all the true professionals, goes to MLG, etc. I highly disregard people making fun of him for stupid things, and even calling him a prick like you thestorey.

- surfing, on 10/12/2007, -2/+16spitfire, do you need an 8 year old to teach you how to use Digg?
- psychotron, on 10/12/2007, -2/+13I hope you are kidding about not making $25 an hour at a Fortune 500 company's IT department. My jobs pays a lot more than $25 and hour and it is nowhere close to being a Fortune 500 company...
- ptaylor, on 10/12/2007, -1/+12Oh yeah. I saw this kid on Attack of the Show on G4TV. I forgot the show's host name, but he owned him. This kid is pretty good at Halo, best I've ever seen.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -3/+13He'll need to wait that long to be able to afford it...
- jessecrouch, on 10/12/2007, -2/+11yeah taxman cometh.. some other oppressive state agency cometh up his, his parents, and employers asses too. im sure there's some government organization that would love to just come take this kid away and send everyone else off to jail because of some stupid "child labor" ***** - and if it isn't for that then you're right the IRS will probably come harass this kid about it.
- Hickeroar, on 10/12/2007, -3/+11Veamon - I think it's pretty obvious by the story that the father does play a substantial role in the kids life. As long as the dad is there to watch and make sure he doesnt get into any "trouble," I don't see TOO much of a problem with it. It is a little odd, but the kid also seems very bright for his age.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7Well, it's all relative. Clearly he doesn't avg. nearly as much as what you'd think taking only 4 clients a month, and only probably doing something like 5 hour sessions. Still, even THAT is a sweet amount of money for how young he is. As a bartender, I am somewhat in the same boat as this kid. I make approx. 98% of my money each week in a 3 day time span, which pays for college, my apartment, parking, cell phone, internet, etc. Although I usually average somewhere in the $40 - 70 an hour not including hourly wage, i only work on Thurs, Fri, and Sat. nights. Even so, it's rare to be economically envious of an 8 year old, props to this kid.
- Sell, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7I can't believe people pay for stupid things like this.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+8This reminds me of the South Park episode where Kenny gets the PSP and heaven kidnaps him to use it to battle hell. Think it will happen with this kid?
- swanny89, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7That probably has to do with how when the game elevates to that caliber of play, it ceases being a game, but rather a skill that has to be practiced. Similar to if you ere to play in an organized football league vs. in the backyard with your friends. Its way more fun to play with your friends even though you all might suck.
- ptaylor, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7Didn't know that there are video game tutors either. Would've been nice when I was getting smacked around when I started playing Marvel vs. Capcom 2, SOCOM and Madden.
As if paying $300+ for a system and $40+ for a game isn't enough. I thought that's why you stay up all night playing these games... - laserdisc, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7A cousin of mine seen him at some Halo competition last year and from what he says about Lil Poison is truly a marvel at Halo. However he also described LP as being bored and depressed while he played Halo. After a match LP would ride his bike around the mall, glee as can be until he's back in front of an Xbox and he gets all gloomy again.
- madpie, on 10/12/2007, -3/+9that kid is probably going to go into video game design and do just fine for himself. it's what he's good at -- why worry about it?
- MrKite, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5I don't doubt that. I get sick of games pretty fast, so I can only imagine how bored the kid is having to teach people the tricks of winning such an easy game. Over and over and over again.
- Kailash.Nadh, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5Wow, aruguing and commenting on parenthood. Whats up with you people, its an 8 year old kid making money off gaming, that should be appreciated no matter what. Blaming parents, get over it folks!
- Tonyisbad, on 10/12/2007, -3/+8Damn this kid, i remember making 6 dollars an hour for my first job teaching kids his age how to swim, then i started life guarding for 9 dollars an hour in between semesters. Now i work for the top law firm in New England and this kid is still making a buck-fifty an hour more than me and i hate my job. Damn little bastard, why couldn't i teach grown ups back in the day how to master mortal kombat or super Mario 3 back. Apparently I've been making all the wrong choices in life, i should of started early on and started taking older noobs for their money...
- Bean6886, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5i personally would be embarrassed to get lessons on playing Halo from an 8 year old kid. it wouldn't matter how good he is, it would just be to awkward!
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -4/+9Eternally proving that Halo is a game for small children. Real men play Counter-Strike.
- AgentofId, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5@RandomGuySteve, as long as you realize that there are plenty of pro gamers who make a living at it ;) I realize the chances of making a living as a pro gamer aren't as good as the chances of making a living at, say, pro-sports... but honestly the cash from teaching people to play halo is chump-change compared to what this kid has earned in tournaments... He's already a pro-gamer at age 8 (really, he's part of the MLG circuit), I doubt he's doomed to a life of fast-food work. ;)
- spitfire6006006, on 10/12/2007, -2/+7oops, sorry, clicked wrong arrow
- digitaldater, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5As it should be! Never underestimate the power of small people or how the underground economy is the real way in which you are supposed to make money.
Think about yourself when you were around 10 years old. You could have solved the problem of world hunger if you weren't bamboozled and chained to 3rd or 4th grade. Although I suffered setbacks and was told there were certain things that I was not supposed to do as a child, I still hold my entrepreneurial torch high!
As for myself, I was a gambler as an 11 year and yes, video games were involved.
Take note. This is how business is supposed to work. - MasterChi, on 10/12/2007, -4/+8Yup all average things. In counterstrike terms he basically was camping a lot and awping everyone and that awp had a crosshair which makes things a ton easier for that one shot kill weapons. Next.
- Ahnteis, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Additionally, it's hard to concentrate when you're laughing and joking. :) He may enjoy it without it being visible. Or he may just be addicted. :P

- AriaStar, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3" 'Hey son, I can't be bothered to be a parent. Here, sit in front of the TV with some video games all day. I'm gonna go ***** your mom.' "
My thought exactly. A fussy kid, so instead of finding out why he's fussy, just sit him in front of the TV? Just how much has this kid had to play to be the caliber he is at his age? - mbthompson, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3lil poison
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+5"My jobs pays a lot more than $25 and hour and it is nowhere close to being a Fortune 500 company..."
Perhaps they didn't get to become a fortune 500 by paying their staff well :P - Vesty, on 10/12/2007, -2/+5Am I the only one thinking about the whole why the hell is an 8 year old playing an M rated game?
- porplem, on 10/12/2007, -4/+7That would be Kevin Pereira who he played.
- Bullsnot, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3I was a little more then 8 at the time, but when I was a kid, I would use a quarter taped on some thread to rack up 10 dollars worth of credits on an arcade machine and sell them to the littler kids for $2.
No where near as good as this. - cfizzo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3shouldn't this be in the gaming section? i mean thats what its for isnt it?
- miggie, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3I know some idiot that let his 3 year-old play GTA and he's good at. The boy's name is 3 letters and he can't spell it.
- Scaught, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I've played with LiL Poison, and his father, and they're both really overrated.
- Jeebugorn, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3how is goat's comment a flame? its the truth. halo is child's play against counterstike. 4 hits (max) and you are dead in CS...i've emptied clips of ammo into people in halo and they killed me. the only thing that i think that halo has the edge on it co-op campaigns. playing halo 1 in co-op with a friend of mine was AWESOME.
- Jack9, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Glad I still make more than most 8 year olds.
- mbthompson, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2EGM had a small bio on him and other pro gamers in this months issue. My feeling is, good for him. Know your strength and your passion and go with it for all it's worth. For all intents and purposes this kid could be to gaming what Beethoven was to music, I say that because when Bach was a young man Mozart said "Keep your eyes on him; some day he will give the world something to talk about." It's obvious this kid's refelxes and ability are above average, so give credit where credit is due.
