That's like ordering a free bowl of Cheerios and having the waiter piss in the bowl....I don't like Cheerios floating in piss...but it's free...oh, got a spoon, yum, it's free. hehe - booc0mtaco, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1@kinglizard
well, that's one way to find out if that's your sort of thing :~P Doesn't cost a thing. - mlebeau, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Awesome! How is it that I am a Stanford student and haven't heard about this? Digg rocks. :P
- kingyubba, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1there's an additional 30 songs if you click on the "Concerts" tab...
- sufferingant, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1SmeRndmGy
but this is legal :) - Amplix, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1nice but that's a very very misleading title :(
I'll digg it anyway - trex, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1excellent find. I like what iTunes is doing in higher education.
Also note that if you click the Concert Tab there are 30 more songs (classical) also performed by stanford staff & students. - 5blocksfree, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1>> I need my popular culture. :(
Pop culture is to one's sensibilities, as fast food is to one's arteries. - broncomac, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Thanks for the comments guys. The misspelled "Soundtrack" completely flew under our radar; I guess we need to expand the meta-data fields more. =) Also, we should have the "Various Artists" replaced with the individual artist names as we just received the list this weekend (the CD listed them as various artists). As for the music, check out Chris Ayer. I think he's pretty good.
This is very much a work in progress, and we will continue to update and evolve both the content and the store. It is from input like this however, that we can really judge our service. Thanks! - kingfoot, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0So generous! +digg
- OwlBoy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0You can play them streamed from the store.
They don't have 30 second previews.
-Owl - federicob, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I have not check the songs already...... but sharing is great...DIGG it!
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I don't actually give a ***** about school pride or the rivaly.
Just wanted to post something because i had nothing better to say.
=) - mightymouse, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0"Everythings gonna be alright" in that list is a very good song. Download it.
- justinp, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I was completely excited until I read "made by Stanford student(s)"
I need my popular culture. :( - scotsman, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Pretty crappy songs - no wonder they're free..
- uthguy9, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0these should not be free....these are crap, they should be paying people to listen.
- k3n85, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0good stuff, you write a song, and let it suck, then you can argue
- chuckfoo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0any know the best ones?
- ultimate_ed, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0You know, there just might be something to this free music thing. I see free music catching on with the masses :-)
- LeeVal, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0finally songs that are free and are good
- mlebeau, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0"hope the don't suck." ..eh, after downloading some, I have to say that a significant portion of them do. Not to mention the fact that "Soundtrack" is mispelled in the listings. I'm so ashamed.. hehe.
- spelchek, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Does anyone know links to some other university's iTunes pages? I'd like to get some lectures to fill my iPod.
- bloodrain, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0free is free. thu i don need to geta bigger hd.... me and itunes
- Libb, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Heh, I just noticed that they aren't even DRMed! They're M4A files, instead of the usual M4P files that you usually get from iTunes, so you can copy and redistribute them as much as you want!
- stevo_kr, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I'm diggin this music, it's very nice for free. Most of it is mellow/jazzish sorta stuff, +digg.
- JamesWilson, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0All music is free music. :)
- Doubtfulsalm, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Free music is free music. I'm sure that there will be some good ones in there somewhere.
- chuckmagnum, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0i was more interested in the lectures
- rocketrye12, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0these tracks are suprisingly good
- mlebeau, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0@ geekjustin: Haha, yes, I am aware, that and I also put "the" instead of "they". I typed the comment in a hurry and realized it afterwards in a 'doh!' moment. The difference, though, is that comments are an informal thing, whereas the title of something on iTMS should probably be checked before submission. ;)
- elmimmo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Nice for listeners, a total crap for the students… NOT A SINGLE ARTIST IS CREDITED!!!
- skyhighrockets, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0actually its 100 free songs.
- Qu1kK1ll, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I was about to digg this, but once I saw the word "Stanford" I changed my mind...
- hansdg1, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Sweet Find!!!
- elmimmo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Ok, wrote too soon. ARTISTS ARE INDEED CREDITED. Some at least. It's just that the first 20 or so songs aren't…
- Jessimo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Wow. For those of you who says this sucks, what sucks about good jazz piano?
- sfacets, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I agree with 5blocksfree... bloody squares..
the good thing with this is that u don't have to signup to the store to download... - baltakatei, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0itunes.stanford.edu
Main directory on iTunes. Yay for podcast lectures! - FunkyGuy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0there are tons of free legit music online, but if its on iTunes...homepaged.
- moiety, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Downloading music for free, over the Internet? What will they think of next?
But yeah, actually some nice music stuffed in there, and you can't beat the price. - bob12321, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0any free song is good with me as long its not rap ( retards atempting poetry )

GO BEARS!!! - birch25, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0"70 free songs from people no one has ever heard? What a great deal!"
wow, free isn't enough for you bastards anymore, huh? note to self: apparently only well known music is good. please... - MichaelW2, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0This music is horrible.
- kungfustickman, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Uh is that okay. If this starts to happen iTunes will have to pay for artist's bandwith without getting a cut. If they would only adopt bit torrent.
