- homer524, on 11/05/2009, -0/+27If only they invented the technology to display these 5 new technologies on a single web page. Think of the possibilites...
- SpamHat, on 11/05/2009, -3/+29"in the next few years"
TRANSLATION:
Q4 2030 - Iceman21, on 11/05/2009, -1/+191. USB technology, small and high capacity disks, nothing new and hasn't made an impact on my life and i don't see it happening because i do not work with pc's
2. Video streaming over Wi-Fi, self explanatory, i use this to watch movies on my tv using the xbox as a medium.
3. 3D T.V, seriously? been a concept and been used for a while now, i suspect hologram projectors in the floor are here or coming soon.
4. ‘Augmented reality’ in mobile devices, quite simply glorified gps, maps etc, picture recognition and suggested places to go eat etc, a tourists device in my opinion
5. HTML5, enough said, waiting for news now on html6 in a few years or so, who cares?
One ***** page next time please, i loathe the multiple pages when not necessary because my mouse has a scroll down button, i prefer it that way, so much that i made a list for other digg user, simplified and with my own comments. - FHMKHN, on 11/05/2009, -1/+17where is the new generation ion engines, carbon nanotubes and mircomachine medicines?
- OUSooner, on 11/05/2009, -0/+10I feel like I read the exact same article on Digg about a month ago...but it wasn't hosted by MSNBC. It was the same stuff though...3D TV, faster USB, etc.
- illspaz, on 11/05/2009, -1/+92nd time on front page in two weeks. nice.
http://digg.com/d317m2T - OverZealousHobo, on 11/05/2009, -0/+7I don't care if I sound old and unwilling to change...***** 3d gimmicky *****.
- Sporkstabber, on 11/05/2009, -0/+5Where the hell is my jet-pack?
- cawfee, on 11/05/2009, -0/+5It's already here! But you need a charging pad. And a conductive clip-on. And compatible accessories. Oh, and the charging pad has a wire. Oops.
- swantamer, on 11/05/2009, -1/+6Buried for so many reasons: article has already been up; too many clicks and mainly NOTHING here that will change much of anything.
- Coling2k2, on 11/05/2009, -0/+5Do we still make Duke Nukem Forever jokes?
- waynechng, on 11/05/2009, -1/+5Only mobile "augmented reality" really qualifies to change everything. The other four are just enhancements.
- soley, on 11/05/2009, -2/+6What's tv?
- OverDriven, on 11/05/2009, -4/+8Completely true, but the wannabe experts at Digg will always digg you down for making this comment. Some people even think that it can replace RIA technologies such as Flash, Flex, Silverlight and JS. As a web developer, I can tell you that it's hilarious that anyone would think this, but for some reason the hype keeps growing.
- t0ny, on 11/05/2009, -1/+5That box that shows pictures of annoying ads.
- chingy1788, on 11/05/2009, -0/+4Wireless Electricity will change everything
- WinkyMcGee, on 11/05/2009, -0/+3Because MSNBC can sell 5 times the amount of ads if it puts the article on 5 different pages. It's annoying, but it's how they make money.
- Koskun, on 11/05/2009, -1/+4The biggest problem with all these new technology's isn't the development of them, nor even getting them to market. It's the convincing the public that they need to buy something new to replace something that works just fine for what they feel they need.
Also, regardless of how the economy is now, a new TV coming out, after the digital transition, when the masses are just starting to see that these new fangled flat TV's do look better, aren't going to want to pitch out more money to replace something they just bought. - slicker76, on 11/05/2009, -0/+3How about the technology to put the entire article on one page?
- homer524, on 11/05/2009, -3/+6IT WILL SOLVE ALL PROBLEMS AND YOU ALL KNOW IT. IT WILL DISPLAY ANY FORMAT SIMULTANEOUSLY AND INSTANTLY ACROSS MULTIPLE PLATFORMS. THIS WILL BE COUPLED WITH THE FACT THAT IT WILL ALLOW FOR CANDY, PUPPIES, AND FIREWORKS TO ALL BE AVAILABLE IN ONE CONVENIENT STORE. IT ALSO WILL FEATURE CAPS LOCK DISABLE FOR COMMENTS SECTIONS AND WILL BE THE BEST THING EVAR.
sorry... i don't know what got into me - mbst2000, on 11/05/2009, -0/+3That is a terrifying concept though right? I mean talk about sucking every last bit of human experience out of the world.
- JoDyO, on 11/05/2009, -0/+3Is there a new re-run feature on digg now. Why do I keep seeing the same stories every so often. This story was just on here 15 days ago.
- lewlew20, on 11/05/2009, -0/+3Augmented reality will be the game changer. Instant access to the net with virtual keyboards at any time? Facial recognition + augmented reality, just imagine the possibilities. You could know all about a stranger before you even say a word to them...
- ampdj89, on 11/05/2009, -0/+3Cheap SSD's first please...
- ipodman715, on 11/05/2009, -0/+3exactly
- illspaz, on 11/06/2009, -0/+3=/= ≠ !=
- masterstghm, on 11/06/2009, -0/+3Wal-Mart, ***** YEAH!
- Cyberdactyl, on 11/05/2009, -0/+2Sorry folks, USB 3.0 has been delayed for a year.
- aychseven, on 11/05/2009, -0/+2"during the country's biggest consumer electronics sow in Chiba, Japan" LOL
gotta love them electronic pigs! - nigelmansell, on 11/05/2009, -3/+5Mircosoft and NBC's joint venture msnbc.com was supposed to change everyone's life ten years ago
- swantamer, on 11/05/2009, -1/+3so true. why do so few web designers get that simple point: if the viewer has to click, the viewer will split.
- keyo, on 11/05/2009, -1/+3Yes, cancer rates will go up 500%
Other than that it changes very little, you still have to be near a charging pad/coil to get power so it's very similar to being near any other outlet. You just no longer spare the 2 seconds to plug it in. - masterstghm, on 11/06/2009, -0/+2Thank you illspaz
- areyouserial, on 11/05/2009, -0/+2Without wireless broadband internet access (not 3G with "unlimited" capped at 5gigs/month) life still sucks with all these gadgets.
- JillRhudy, on 11/05/2009, -0/+2Every time I decide to replace this four-year old laptop and six-year-old desktop (with added RAM) so that I don't have to run four cleanup programs a week and regedit all the time, I hear about some new to-die-for feature that won't be available until next Christmas. I respect an old computer that keeps running. I don't respect a new computer that cost me $800 and is obsolete within weeks.
- KMartSheriff, on 11/05/2009, -0/+22nd time burying it as well
- soccer1105, on 11/06/2009, -0/+2I think those are a little too far away. This article seemed to be more focused on technologies coming out within the next year or two.
- Averness, on 11/06/2009, -0/+1More than the merging of AOL and Time Warner? That was epic.
- Averness, on 11/06/2009, -0/+1This article was about things that are coming out in the next few years. You point out that no browsers currently support HTML5. Good job there. Way to completely miss the point. I don't think you should be calling people morons when you fail basic RTFA.
- masterstghm, on 11/06/2009, -0/+1It's been here for over 100 years.
- illspaz, on 11/06/2009, -0/+1whoosh
- masterstghm, on 11/06/2009, -0/+1Me too...
- Jayphen, on 11/06/2009, -0/+1HTML5 seems a little out of place in this article, really. It's a great step in the right direction, but not something most end-users will ever notice.
- branton87, on 11/05/2009, -0/+1http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/33610201/ns/technology ...
- cuervoman914, on 11/05/2009, -0/+1goddamn it, should i hold off on the purchase of a sweet ass samsung series 9 led-tv? or the new 3d tech would work with it?
- migvel, on 11/05/2009, -0/+1A box that stream video all day long for free! and there isn't any lag!
- damnshoes, on 11/05/2009, -0/+1ahhh my eyes are boiling!!!
@_@ - NathanLands, on 11/05/2009, -0/+1They left out something that's coming in the next 3 years, Connected Car! http://digg.com/d319997 Gaming anywhere, movies anywhere.
- illspaz, on 11/06/2009, -0/+1why did you never learn about question marks.
- JoDyO, on 11/06/2009, -0/+1Well, it just shows how ***** smart you are!! You just asked me a question without a question mark. *****. Oh, and your missing a capital on Why also.
