- TannerC, on 10/10/2007, -1/+20By-far the best social networking I have ever done was in this place called the real world. It was neat.
- Bamborzled, on 10/10/2007, -0/+9How do I sign up? Is it invite-only?
- Bricks, on 10/10/2007, -0/+7Its so hard for me to keep up with integrating stuff at this stage in development. On one hand, it'd be great to be an early adopter of the next big thing.. on the other.. someone probably just launched a Web 2.0 startup in the course of me writing this reply.
- kurupttek, on 10/10/2007, -1/+7Just in case worpress decides not to work. well it wont work

The title should read: 4 Up-and-Coming Social News and Networking Websites You Should Avoid at All Costs. - SebHughes, on 10/10/2007, -1/+3I'm sooo sick of Social Networking Sites. There all the ***** same lame ass *****.
- InternetCeleb, on 10/10/2007, -1/+2I like the sound of Peopleized, I'll have to have a look at that!
Not on the list, but http://www.CivilDisobedience.org.uk looks like it could be interesting - looks like it's going to be a social network for political activism. - inactive, on 10/10/2007, -4/+5All most of us want is a good tech news site, with lots of programming, web design, web dev, application dev, css, photoshop stuff, cool software and other stuff, stuff that Digg used to specialize in :p
I'm still able to find some nuggets, but I get tired of autoblog, colourlovers and pictures spamming up those categories - inactive, on 10/10/2007, -1/+2Enough already.
- merreborn, on 10/10/2007, -2/+3Jesus *****, it's a blatant digg ripoff.
- merreborn, on 10/10/2007, -2/+3Yeah, totally. This is as good as it's ever going to get. There's no more innovation to be had. Everyone should stop developing anything new, because it can't possibly improve on what we have now.
I mean, really, what could possibly be better than myspace? While we're at it, who's ever going to need more than 640k of ram? - maverick001, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1It is hard to get users to try out a new social site these days. I wrote up an app in my free time and it is extremely hard to gain traction. Though the concept is different it is hard to convince users. Check it out: http://tribein.com
- RGWX, on 10/10/2007, -1/+1You know, the big room where the lights are realllly bright? :) Good point.
- JBrozetti, on 10/10/2007, -0/+0This article gives a summary of four up-and-coming social network sites. Some of these sites are pure social networks (a la myspace) while others are social news sites (similar to digg). In my opinion the next big steps will be social networks and social news site totally blending to meet the needs of both types of sites. This article proves that social-Web 2.0 sites are powerful and have huge potential for business application.
- DivineLackey, on 10/10/2007, -1/+1www.globalsoapbox.com is better. shoutwire is just confusing to use, and they censor too much =/
- steveoco, on 10/10/2007, -1/+1www.kokshoor.com kind of like digg's comment system but with extra layers of depth and all opinions
- rwallen, on 10/10/2007, -2/+2When is streamy coming out?
- Lightspeed2, on 10/10/2007, -1/+1thats not the point ***** idiot merreborn, noone wants to register again because one site has a better logo, especially to a site that has noone on it
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -2/+2I'll trade you an OiNK invite.
- Kwipper, on 10/10/2007, -2/+2Okay, I must ask. Are the people on Digg trying to pimp these sites out just to get people off of Digg and onto their favorite news networking sites? I love digg.com.
- antigoogle, on 10/10/2007, -2/+2This is SPAM., bury!
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -2/+2I strongly dislike online aggregators.
- hello2usir, on 10/10/2007, -3/+2I understand what you're saying but seriously, who gives a crap about social networking "innovations" other than 14 year old girls and pedophiles?
Let's take all of that energy spent reinventing Myspace and channel it into something more productive. Something that will benefit mankind more than seizure-inducing animated gifs and ear-rupturing playlist plugins. - getrealnow, on 10/10/2007, -3/+2Dugg Down for Netscape
- Nivardus, on 10/10/2007, -1/+0I visited Plime, attracted by the idea of submitted stories getting pre-designated points from submitter notoriety, but the top popular links at the time were ridiculous. I'll consider joining a start-up social/news networking site when I'm not convinced that a great number of its users believe that a link to the video "Squeaky Granny" is worth jumping all over.
- Roblodocus, on 10/10/2007, -2/+1My point exactly. Great post.
- DivineLackey, on 10/10/2007, -2/+1www.globalsoapbox.com is a nice site, easier to use and better than shoutwire anyway. It allows you to make polls and write editorials/blogs and stuff.
- Recyclable, on 10/10/2007, -2/+1I think the happy toast society is pretty good as far as social sites go :>
http://www.happytoastsociety.com/ - MrDo, on 10/10/2007, -2/+1i just use linkedin.com
- Apocalyptic0n3, on 10/10/2007, -2/+1No mention of Virb?
- jjjust, on 10/10/2007, -1/+0Kurt,
I think it's great that you are freely giving out this information! I am always looking for the next up and commers. I guess some folks get comapcent where they are and aren't looking to expand readership, visitors and their business. Thanks again. Keep up the great work!!! - Lightspeed2, on 10/10/2007, -3/+1did you really have to say web 2.0? its fukin annoying
- sslovescm, on 10/10/2007, -3/+0also look at http://www.facesity.com and for very cheap and effective advertising http://www.adsity.com
- wookiecontrol, on 10/10/2007, -4/+1realworld.com? I try to get into the hot tub, but they keep making me leave.

2. http://www.reddit.com
3. http://www.netscape.com
And aggregators:
1. http://popurls.com/
2. http://www.buzzoo.com - litebulb1, on 10/10/2007, -6/+1shoutwire.com is awesome!
- hmunkey, on 10/10/2007, -7/+2Who cares? Digg satisfies my needs.
- wookiecontrol, on 10/10/2007, -7/+0realworld.com? I try to get into the hot tub, but they keep making me leave.
