- Burns, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2The government had tech like this 30 years ago imagine what secret tech they have now.
- GreenSlabOfClay, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Smoke a big fat joint and then goto the site.
WOW!
*cough* *cough* - Dhalgren, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1This must be the camera used in all the tv shows where they zoom in and "enhance" an otherwise blurry image.
- Bostonsox, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I thought it was cool, the headline was lame and I think the summary might be a lie, but the website was interesting. I'll make it interesting for the digg fans APPLE RULZ! M$ SUX!!!
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1You guys are worse than a bunch of Vulcans at a math convention.
It takes 5 guys to post this 5 times but hundreds of you whiny wankers to bitch about it.
Thanks for the dupe links, buttmunch. I went back and dugg all those as well. - RadiatedAnt, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0everyone knows apple users are Asexual...
- RadiatedAnt, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Doh'!
/action Hides Nano.... - jk_baller23, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0pictures are pretty cool
- TexMachina, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0The one gigapixel was extremely old. This is the upgrade.
And now we get to hear form all the shortsighted people with their unbelievably lame "Who needs more than 4 megapixel blah blah blah. And why have more than 640k on a computer?" arguments. - TexMachina, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I noticed the cars are blurred in the Time Square shot. How long of an exposure does this camera require? I know it looks similar to a camera from the 19th century but this is pushing the anachronistic appeal a bit far.
- brydude, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Who needs moer than 4 megapixal [blah blah blah. And why have more than 640k on a computer? I jsut don't get it!
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0^_^ My grandpa flew a U2.
Their family lived a block away from francis gary powers, too.

http://reidscones.com - Nerys, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0they give ULTRA high res downloads of MANY of them (but not all yet its a lot of work and still in progress) this has been on digg before and its so freaking cool I dugg it again. its just to freaking amazing not to digg it !
its not misleading I also read from them it was a high altitude spy camera like those used on the U2's but maybe not from an actual U2 and those cameras are NOT capable of this. he had to manufacture to amazing tolerances and specifications his own custom optics since this camera is designed to focus on things 20 MILES away not 200 feet away :-) the result though is simply nothing short of stunning.
From what I understand he can not just plop this thing down and take a shot. he has reams of mathmatics he has to go through to calculate focus and miriad of other adjustments to get this thing to do this. nothing short of amazing results !
Look at the one with the gorge. you can see the fraking people IN the water they are so small that zoomed out you can NOT see them zoom in to the SUPPORT post in the watter look to the upper right IIRC of that post and zoom all the way in. !! simply amazing !

http://www.nerys.com/ - blhack, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1oh i get it.....so this is the camera that people on CSI and 24 have in their cellphones?
- knokoutned, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0this is sooo tight!
- aldenhg, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0As a photographer this is very cool, but the gigapixel project has been around for at least a few years now. Not to mention the fact that the title and summary are misleading in that they designed most of their equipment themselves. The scan negatives. It isn't as if you can just get a camera off eBay or something that will give you resoltuion like that. They've done a whole lot of work.
- Wogna, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0that's amazing
- MikeCampo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Yeah this is pretty old.
- williamw, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0saw this very long ago
- subigo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Does anyone ever actually READ ANYTHING??
This is a FILM camera, which produces digital SCANS at up to 4 gigapixels.
Wow. - NeilM, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0That's nuts.
- intoflatlines, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0ridiculous
- Rudrasksha, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0"ONE OF THE MOST OLDEST DIGG SUBMISSIONS EVER."
'Oldest' does not need 'most' in front of it. And the article was lame. - Chris_F, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0You could do the same if you mounted a lense on a scanner. Of cource there would have to be no movement.
- gotamd, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0This is pretty cool. I hadn't heard of it before.
- motorhappy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I'm new to digg, so this is new to me. There are some beautiful photographs here. Thanks.

- RyeBrye, on 10/12/2007, -2/+0They don't even mention a U2 spyplane on the site. You have succeeded in writing what I consider the worst title/description I have ever seen on digg. Oh, and the site it leads to is also very lame.
- greatromance, on 10/12/2007, -2/+0I think i've seen this like 245829925925 times already dugg
- Asbradley21, on 10/12/2007, -3/+0its EXTREMELY OLD news
