- Meheren, on 12/03/2008, -3/+35Anti DRM? I'll digg.
- missrose, on 12/04/2008, -1/+20Just another reason to find artists who allow you to download for free (or donation).
- ringokamens, on 12/04/2008, -0/+11Rock on DRM Elimination Crew. To get involved in anti-drm work, check out defectivebydesign.org and binaryfreedom.info!
- columb, on 12/04/2008, -1/+11***** DRM!!!!
- 1ofMany, on 12/04/2008, -1/+10He paid $25 to join a Prince fanclub??????
- psi36, on 12/04/2008, -1/+8A lot of people don't realize why DRM is bad until they are faced with something like the guy in this article describes. The more people realize WHY DRM is bad for them, the better!
- Rudegar, on 12/04/2008, -0/+6"friends without benefits" been there :S :P
- jjustin01, on 12/04/2008, -0/+6It's things like this that made me lose respect for bands such as Metallica, whom I once loved. They treat their fans like they are beneath them. I personally think Lars suffers from little-man syndrome more than any other human on the planet. Someone needs to kick Prince's ass and shove his boot up Lars' ass.
I understand wanting to protect your profits. But, treating everyone as if they are criminals is not how you do it. There are ways to promote your art without DRM and actually make people want to buy your stuff. - whoizthedrizzle, on 12/04/2008, -0/+5***** the riaa!
- angusm, on 12/04/2008, -0/+4Prince is the artist formerly known as Prince and sometimes referred to as 'symbol'. He has now apparently changed his name back to Prince again, but those who know and admire him will always think of him as the Purple Love Dwarf.
- nosklo, on 12/04/2008, -0/+4The guy purchased a Xpectation album. Seems like DRM got him a forever Xpectation of listening to it.
- derekmas10, on 12/04/2008, -0/+4The album was hard to listen to in the first place... even without DRM.
- teethandeyes, on 12/04/2008, -2/+6I don't understand this whole DRM thing....
Amazon has just about everything available in MP3 format DRM free if you feel like paying.
If you don't there are torrents and thosands of great MP3 blogs.
Like mine for example--> http://beatsandblood.blogspot.com/
Sorry, I couldn't resist. - Moegopher, on 12/04/2008, -0/+4It really is a shame. I wish I could enjoy Prince (among other artists) without the burden of DRM.
- hamholio, on 12/04/2008, -0/+3Xpectation is a snoozefest--he isn't missing much.
- milarepa, on 12/04/2008, -1/+4Prince is a douche, but that ***** can sing.
- dhughes, on 12/04/2008, -0/+3#8 is out "Both WiiWare and Virtual Console games include DRM, and downloads are locked to the Wii console. "
- daradib, on 12/04/2008, -0/+2Generally speaking DRM-laden music files are encoded in lossy formats anyways. FLAC doesn't support DRM, though ALAC and WMA Lossless probably do (but I don't know of many places where I can purchase music in ALAC or WMA Lossless format). Unless you want to take the DRM-laden file, burn a CD, and rip using FLAC or in another lossless format (resulting in a huge increase in file size with no change in quality), the quality will definitely decrease especially if you strive to keep the same file size as the DRM-laden file.

Heh, good timing Rockstar. - dhughes, on 12/04/2008, -1/+2> Who the ***** is Prince?
⚥ - mrspennyapple, on 05/25/2009, -1/+2I think he's a Jehovah's Witness who used to sing... kind of like Cat Stevens only more intrusive.
- badtzmartin, on 12/04/2008, -0/+1I'm a big Prince fan, and over the years have spent a lot of money on his albums and paraphernalia. But that album, and other not-so-great late releases - I got from TPB.
Sorry Prince. Go have lunch with Trent Reznor. Ask him how to do it right. - irabinovitch, on 12/04/2008, -0/+1www.Geek-PAC.org might be of interest to you s well.
- Kickasso, on 12/20/2008, -0/+1Using the Russian sites may be legal but they're morally no better than pirate sites since the artists never see a penny from them. In fact they are worse than most pirate sites, since they make money by selling stuff they don't own. At least most pirate sites have a no profit policy.
- JustinHopewell, on 12/04/2008, -0/+1I want banana powered rocket boots. Quote me a reasonable price and we'll talk.

I never meant to cause you any sorrow
I never meant to cause you any pain... - rancidpony, on 12/04/2008, -0/+1Report the spammer account.
- inactive, on 12/04/2008, -2/+2If you're stupid enough to buy DRM media.... I will not and do not feel sorry for you. Did I mention you're stupid if you have? Oh yea! I did.
- Finalreminder, on 12/04/2008, -2/+2Torrents shall set you free!
Seriously though, these anti-pirating organisations are pissing in the wind if they thing they can stick this DRM crap in there and the internet will roll over and give up. - LJSeinfeld, on 12/04/2008, -2/+2www.thepiratebay.org
- Remelox, on 12/04/2008, -1/+1Not in defense of the Burn to CD ... Defense...um...anyway....He says it will result in a loss in quality. Depends on the formats involved. Starting with a lossless format, burning to CD, and ripping to FLAC is lossless. Starting with something lossy like mps, burning to CD, and ripping to mp3 is probably lossy. So people, once again, please stop using mp3. You're only hurting yourself.
This message brought to you by the FLAC Corporation. - OMnicient, on 12/04/2008, -0/+0There are plenty of download sites from Russia that are DRM-free, and LEGAL! Yeah, there's plenty of FREE Prince there!
Of course, using the pirate bay may be illegal, but the Russian sites aren't. And there is no such thing as the RIAA in Russia. - WebLadyKim, on 12/08/2008, -0/+0Honestly, if you can hear it, you can record it DRM-free and legally too! On Windows, use 'TuneBite' - http://tunebite.com or on the Mac use 'WireTap Studio' - http://www.ambrosiasw.com/utilities/wiretap/. Use it for iTunes purchases or anything you bought online. The Recording Industry as we (knew) it is on the way out. If they don't get it, we'll just make our own music. Don't buy DRM laden music and boycott any Artist that uses it.
- jba68, on 12/04/2008, -1/+0Prince is the guy that gets all the gurlz Wet
- xsecretfiles, on 12/04/2008, -10/+4Who the ***** is Prince?
