- monolith, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2does Slartibartfast work for them?
- redwire, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Canada isn't the only place, greenland is nice this time of year. And the south island of New Zealand is nice too, you can dress up like a hobbit there 24/7 and people will think you work for the local tourist industry.
- mdramige, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2So this is why I'm paying $2.50/gal for gas!
- psyaeger, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2There's also an underwater hotel being devloped, a dinosaur theme park, world's tallest building and largest shopping mall. oh and two other sets of islands, each set in the shape of a palm tree. I kid you not.
- DarkHorizon5, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Mystery meat navigation! Not nice.
When will these be for sale? How much will they cost? - search, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I think this is a cool idea. I think the website could have been done better, but other than that its a cool idea indeed.
I do wonder what happens when weather turns bad... no hurricanes in this area?
I got to write about this in my blog. - quaispalm, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2I'm sure Dubai is a nice place and all. But who the hell in their right mind would invest much time or money in a place right next to the most dangerous places on earth.
And now they are building the world's tallest building...
Right on the Persian Gulf...
...Right near Israel, Iran, Iraq, S. Arabia, Syria, etc., etc...
Yeah, riiiight. Where's my checkbook again? I think I misplaced it.
One good thing about Dubai is they are actually trying to use oil money to better their country, unlike those scumbag Saudis. - schalicto, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_World_%28archipelago%29
the wiki article about this specific project. - kawai, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Tallest free standing object != tallest building.
- tonyellard, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1uhhhh.....why?
- drifter, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1to quaispalm basically everywhere is dangerous nowadays...go to asians countries you have North Korea and numerous groups in Asian countries that do attacks. For instance Japan has had attacks by groups. Go to the Middle East have a lot of stuff going on there. Go to Europe a place that has delt with terrorist for some time and even now continues to. And then South America!? Seriously nowhere is safe now.
Only other place is what Canada? Plus if you are that rich i think you can afford a few bodyguards or missiles. - Ir0n_mE, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1"does Slartibartfast work for them?" Yeh I read somewhere he did, Australia looks set for a bunch of fjords.
- metamorphosis, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0What would you do when the next tsunami hits?

- Acill, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I;ve been to Dubai many times while in the US Navy. Its part of the UAE and one of the most modern laces in the Arabian Gulf. Very nice place. The weather isnt bad most of the time. No tsunami threat or anyhthing like that. This is just off the coast. They have bridges ect so you can drive. The palms are done with homes and shopping areas on them now. Very neat, but its still a mostly muslim nation in the Arabian gullf.
- 21.0, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0twas on discovery couple weeks ago, i'm gonna buy one someday...no, seriously.
- SaintStryfe, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0And still, no one wants to live in Texas.

- federrrico, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0i must became rich...
- FunkyGuy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0yeah aooogah it probably isn't great for the environment, but its pretty damn cool. I thought they were going to make it where like, in US they have US things and in like, the china part of the islands they have all Chinese food and Chinese scenery, and in Mexico's part, they have, well you get the idea. It would be the ultimate tourist trip, go around the world.
- Yoda716, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0"You are only limited by your imagination" or in a normal persons case, their pocketbook. All I can say is...freaking rich people.
- Bitty, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0You'd think with all the money they have, they could have hired a competent web designer.
- mach4x0r, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Does this remind anyone else of waterworld?
"Dry Land is not a myth!" - Aooogah, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0That looks absolutely awesome! Too bad it's in the Middle East though. It probably isn't too good for the environment either.
- Lumbeekid06, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0yea i saw this on VH1 it was cool then and its cool now!
- blhack, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Speaking of waterworld, i heard that movie flopped hardcore? WTF, i loved that movie and thought that it was way badass, wtf happened?
- kubedawg, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0I would do just about anything to get on one of those islands and have my own beach house.
- lbermude, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0Why would I invest this amount of money with somebody that does not even know how to spell a country name like "Colombia" (They wrote "Columbia")
- cobra1122, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0damn i wish i could buy a place threre i saw this on VH1 a while ago though
- moo113, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0World's tallest free standing building is in Toronto and that's the way it's going to stay.

Hmm... Only a cool $25 million eh? Where do I sign up? - ZicklePop, on 10/12/2007, -3/+1I hate this idea.
- technonoob, on 10/12/2007, -3/+0Even if I had the money, I would not line the pockets of some camel-jockey who probably supports every freakin terrorist around the world. I hope a sand storm comes along and blows a thousand scorpions into his poopshoot!
- Spanktacular, on 10/12/2007, -3/+0This is such old news.
- mancat, on 10/12/2007, -5/+0"His Heighness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum would like to invite you to an unveiling of an unprecendented investment opportunity."
No thanks, Hammy. Get your terrorist money somewhere else.
