- wildfire, on 10/11/2007, -2/+208Here's the list in a condensed format:
Amazon.com
BBC.co.uk
Citysearch.com
Craigslist.org
Del.icio.us

Ebay.com
Facebook.com
FactCheck.org
Flickr.com
Google.com
HowStuffWorks.com
The Internet Movie Database
iTunes
Kayak.com
NationalGeographic.com
Netflix.com
SimpleWeather.com
Technorati.com
TMZ.com
USA.gov
TelevisionWithoutPity.com
WebMD.com
Wikipedia.org
Yahoo.com - heythisismyname, on 10/11/2007, -12/+164WTF is Kayak.com????
- shortarabguy, on 10/11/2007, -0/+114Am I the only one who's noticing Youtube's absence? Come on, Time, if you're going to put websites like usa.gov or kayak.com in there, at least leave yourself with some credibility. It almost looks like they just auctioned off rankings to the highest bidders for advertisement in the form of a top 25 list.
- inactive, on 10/11/2007, -6/+98google, digg, and wikipedia are the only ones for me
- sockpuppets, on 10/11/2007, -3/+59When I was your age we didn't have the internet. If you wanted sex you couldn't go to craigslist, you had to ask the girl on the corner if she was for sale. We couldn't use itunes, we had to form a barbershop quartet. Our national geographic was a magazine, filled with naked African ladies.
And we liked it! - bmc31190, on 10/11/2007, -6/+57iTunes isn't even a website really, obviously apple has a page set up for it, but it's just a download link for the most part.
- adderx99, on 10/11/2007, -0/+50full page link: http://www.time.com/time/printout/0,8816,1636920,00.html
seriously people, digg the 'printable' link. no one likes a clickfest. - fkr3, on 10/11/2007, -5/+45I wish Time and the others would stop seeding their must-have or very-best lists with crap that's designed purely to get the digg community.
Digg, del.icio.us and technorati aren't sites we can't live without. They're sites bugger all of the world even knows about, and they're not even close to the usefulness of Google, Wikipedia, CraigsList, IMDB etcetera.
Reminds me of a few weeks back when they had the most influential people in IT - people like Bill Gates, Steve Jobs and Jonathon Schwartz bundled with people like Kevin Rose, Jason Calacanis and various other people who, by comparison, are of no significance at all. - seattlephantom, on 10/11/2007, -5/+32It's for people who like to get out of the house and enjoy the outdoors, no surprise it wasn't recognized on this site.
- Abjure, on 10/11/2007, -2/+23I don't know about you but I can sure live without TMZ.com.
- fuggo, on 10/11/2007, -6/+27Boobies.
Oh, wait... sites, not sights. - arbulus, on 10/11/2007, -0/+18Especially since we were all the "Person of the year" last year because of user generated content. Seems like You Tube would have some weight based on that alone.
- litolist, on 10/11/2007, -2/+19Now where did that block button go?
- aaronm67, on 10/11/2007, -2/+18www.simpleWeather.com is pretty cool, and I'd never seen it before.
- RobertJoseph17, on 10/11/2007, -4/+20+1000 diggs for no MySpace.
- perish, on 10/11/2007, -7/+21Paid placement?
- Speed, on 10/11/2007, -3/+17I'm impressed that Digg made the list and the description doesn't have that in caps. Normally Digg users would be creaming their pants if they saw Digg on a list like this.
And dugg down in 4...3...2...1... - Vaiosaurus, on 10/11/2007, -3/+16I was so happy that they left myspace off of the list. Why is Yahoo on the same list as Google? Google wins by a ton. Who even uses Yahoo? Anyone?
- sockpuppets, on 10/11/2007, -0/+13Travel aggregator.
- diggerbez, on 10/11/2007, -1/+12www.newegg.com
- rolosworld, on 10/11/2007, -2/+13no thepiratesbay.com also
or astalavista.box.sk - dementia, on 10/11/2007, -0/+11I just played around with Kayak for a little bit, this site is awesome
- Klaps, on 10/11/2007, -0/+10Time is in partnership with CNN. CNN and TMZ are owned by the same company. Coincidence?
- ScrewedThePooch, on 10/11/2007, -0/+10MySpace deserves to be on the top 25 list of websites that need to be shut down forever, including but not limited to, Xanga, doubleclick.net, and lowermybills.com with those ***** annoying retards dancing around advertising for mortgages.
- sdaf, on 10/11/2007, -4/+13I notice they've edited out the Apple logo on the powerbook(?) used in the picture. Lame!
- e36wheelman, on 10/11/2007, -2/+11What do you think your looking at when you go to the itunes store through itunes? That's not magic, it's a webpage.
- diggdowner, on 10/11/2007, -2/+11...GameFAQs?
- DeeX, on 10/11/2007, -8/+16No one cares about your crap blog.
Go kill yourself. - sockpuppets, on 10/11/2007, -7/+15empornium.us > tmz.com
eBay is just plain evil now, don't even get me started on that. I'd rather give my stuff away than deal with it nowadays. - crackedplastic, on 10/11/2007, -3/+11"Cool to see digg, technorati, and del.icio.us on there."
Maybe Digg and Del.iciou.us. Technorati has always been crap. - Bonekhan, on 10/11/2007, -3/+10It must make you feel warm and fuzzy each night to know that you're clocking three or four posts a day that NO ONE will ever read, that are a mere waste of bandwidth. Of yeah, he is doing this to every story he comments on--the block button is between the name and time. I suggest you use it.
- Quakes, on 10/11/2007, -0/+7Drudge is a horrible, horrible site.
- Thomaschaaf, on 10/11/2007, -1/+7I need these:
Amazon.com
Digg.com
Ebay.com
Google.com
Wikipedia.org
Thats all for me (I live in Germany so some of these don't work for me but I could live without netflix for example.. there's always a Blockbuster right around the corner ;)
I love craigslist though.. but we just don't have it in Germany and it would propably not work.. - auxplage, on 10/11/2007, -0/+6That would be a program.
- ngmcs8203, on 10/11/2007, -4/+10Next time check for yourself before wasting your time posting that question. Lazy ass.
/soapbox
I asked the same question, went to it and it looks sweet. Whether it was a paid placement or not, it definitely beats anything I've used in the past. - Sunsetter, on 10/11/2007, -0/+6Some sites I can definitely agree with. Other sites on that list make me wonder how much they paid Time Magazine to be on that list.
- GerryBot, on 10/11/2007, -2/+8Christ that's a bad list. How can I not live without it if I've never heard of it? I'm talking about SimpleWeather, Kayak, WebMD.
And what's this Wikipedia thing all about? - paulmike3, on 10/11/2007, -0/+5If, by "this", you mean your comments, then consider your wish granted.
- fani, on 10/11/2007, -2/+7Only ones for me :
Amazon.com
Digg.com
The Internet Movie Database
WebMD.com
Wikipedia.org
Yahoo.com - reddit, on 10/11/2007, -3/+8I can live without 24 of them.
- hydroplane, on 10/11/2007, -2/+7More ***** hype, TiME I wipe my ass with thee
- ChoadNamath, on 10/11/2007, -4/+9Myspace kicks Facebook's ass like AIDS kicks cancer's ass. Myspace is only good for learning hot *not* to design a website.
- unleashedlive, on 10/11/2007, -0/+4Funny...I seem to be able to live fine with only 4 out of those 25.
- joeyjojo402, on 10/11/2007, -5/+9digg.com
appleinsider.com
assticklersfaggotfanclub.com - HAKdragon, on 10/11/2007, -1/+5"see if the moran have a Myspace page"
oh the irony... - schavira, on 10/11/2007, -2/+6iTunes isn't a site. There is a download page, but it isn't a site.
- NTolerance, on 10/11/2007, -1/+4I dugg this list because it didn't include myspace.
- MalDON, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3meebo? I have to use it.
