- Poopoopants, on 10/11/2007, -5/+19I thought #1 would be some 12 year old's blogspot about his cat or something.
- inactive, on 10/11/2007, -2/+11Ryan Block ensured that won't ever be happening again with his faked iPhone post.
- AskReaMaor, on 10/11/2007, -0/+7I wonder, those are just dry figures about Traffic, if you'll view them according to monthly revenue I believe we might have a whole other list, or at list not in that order..
- fkr3, on 10/11/2007, -0/+6duhstupid has a point. The biggest blogs don't produce or even contribute anything they just regurgitate others' work.
How anyone can turn content regurgitation into a multi-million dollar spam scam (hi weblogs inc!) is beyond me. At least it gives all the more obvious spammers inspiration. - holyskeleton, on 10/11/2007, -0/+5i was surprised gizimodo has more reader than engadget.
- inactive, on 10/11/2007, -1/+6something about the way this was calculated is screwey
- kuyman, on 10/11/2007, -0/+4LifeHacker is part of Gawker media and they actually produce their own content as well as helpful insight on other people's content tool. Lifehacker isn't crap.
- movingtobc, on 10/11/2007, -2/+6I don't think it's very accurate. One month's metrics isn't enough to track popularity. They should have taken at least 3 months' data.
- fkr3, on 10/11/2007, -0/+4"Whoever came up with the name "blog" should be __________"
Forced to read them, sitting in a chair made of whiney ***** at a desk made of emos in a room constructed of freaks who think we care about their mood or their angst because daddy only bought them a Neon and they wanted a Hummer. - schoate09, on 10/11/2007, -1/+5Whoever came up with the name "blog" should be __________
You have 10 seconds, go! - anitab83, on 10/11/2007, -0/+4fkr8 (and duhstupid) -
You could say the same thing about any news site (from NYT to WSJ to Yahoo etc). News aggregation and "regurgitation" has been here well before blogs, and will continue well after blogs morph into something else.
I don't think the problem is the existence of blogs, but the existence of BAD blogs. - DariusMonsef, on 10/11/2007, -1/+5Alexa Rankings are crap and totally biased:
http://www.younggogetter.com/2007/05/28/alexa-rankings-screw-the-creative-class/ - Haplo, on 10/11/2007, -1/+4"Blogs on the other hand" some blogs do this. I call them copy-paste blogs. I don't (see: http://johnbokma.com/ ). The problem with not-copy-pasting is two-fold: it's much harder to get visitors because you're not news, and it takes a ***** load of time to write. Blog posts on walking around in Mexico I wrote took between 8 and 12 hours to write.
Furthermore, it constantly amazes me that people who hate on blogs on digg don't get it that even less people care about their INSIGNIFICANT opinions and whining. Get a blog, for crying out loud, and keep digg readable. - Sacrifice, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3Most of these are not even true "blogs". They are basically just news sites that use blog software to publish their articles.
- blaze03, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2How is AListApart a blog?
- Iconwolf, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2There's only a few on that list I read regularly. A few on there I have no real interest in, and a couple just have a little too strong a personal bias for me to be a regular read. Sadly, there's a few on that list I was unaware of. (sigggggh) Like I don't already spend far, far too much time reading blogs, newsites, and RSS feeds as it is There's a fair chance if I didn't have to work, I'd never see the light of day/outside world..
- sam991, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1These aren't blogs so much as story aggregators with a little manual input.
- tlogank, on 10/11/2007, -3/+4And why would DrudgeReport not be considered a blog while HuffingtonPost is? I believe it would possibly be the highest rank on here (at least according to traffic) and linked sites. I am guessing a lack of RSS feed possibly hurts it in the way this is calculated.
- asiegrist, on 06/20/2009, -1/+2Nice to see a list apart on there...
- Habemus, on 10/11/2007, -2/+3Instapundit is not on the list? No Michelle Malkin? Where's Think Progress?

I think you might find newspaper and television news actually hire journalists who investigate stories. They might get a tip from somewhere else, but they expand and contribute to the story.
Blogs on the other hand see someone posted about [subject], so they summarise the post saying the same thing using less words and more ads.
Big difference, sorry. - bour54, on 05/10/2008, -0/+0Oh I think my Blog is full of some pretty funny *****... but then again I was raised by wolves for 6 years of my childhood so... I definitely wish I had some weed...

The new bharat stage emission III comes into affect on April 1, 2005 - megastarmedia, on 02/04/2009, -0/+0is there a list that shows % of traffic and % of $ generated?
;) - frunkie, on 10/11/2007, -1/+1I used to read Gizmodo, but their writers (i.e. regurgitators) have been getting really annoying (IMO, obviously), mainly Brian Lam

- Eamon2, on 01/10/2008, -0/+0How many of the hits / unique visitors are loyal readers as opposed to fly-bys?
- dylanjessedude, on 10/13/2007, -0/+0Years ago when I used to watch Chico and the Man as a student at USC we used to dream about being the studs on campus. We wanted to be rich and manley and cool for the Chicas. Now all you have to have is a hip blogger handle! A shout out to my former wave surfin buds... Tanner, Kyle, Richard, Johan and TJ
JBlog - dicanio, on 10/10/2007, -0/+0http://www.ad-now.net - The ultimate resource for advertisers and publishers on the internet
- jordanlund, on 10/11/2007, -0/+0So Fark isn't on the list thanks to the new re-design and draconian moderator policy driving away users or because it's not considered a blog?
It would be interesting to see April and May results... - neuropsychguy, on 10/11/2007, -3/+2What?! Where are the random ramblings from emo kids blogs?
It looks like to be the most successful you have to write about tech or celebrities. At least the top blogs (according to this metric) are fairly reputable. - snowbusiness, on 10/11/2007, -2/+1I dont get how gizmodo is more popular than engadget. A lot of the posts are crappy, and the comment system is complete ***** that noone uses.
- anitab83, on 10/11/2007, -2/+1It is ... these #s are crap. For instance, if you go to the boingboing stats ( http://www.boingboing.net/stats/#month ), you'll see that BoingBoing consistently has 2.5 MM uniques per month, yet their stats show them at ~250K.

- davidhildreth, on 10/11/2007, -5/+3We really need to stop calling some sites blogs.
Ars Technica? not a blog. Same with engadget, and gizmodo and kotaku, they are news sites where everything is listed chronologically. - movingtobc, on 10/11/2007, -4/+2So the most popular blogs are ..
Gizmodo.com
TMZ.com
engadget.com
LifeHacker.com
...
How shocking! - kruzul, on 10/11/2007, -2/+0engadget.com
techamok.com
LifeHacker.com
ggmania.com
joystiq.com - davidwasman, on 10/11/2007, -3/+0I'm just bumbed LGF is on there. Shows we have a long way to go in this country.
I mean look-- I am all for free speech, but their constant barrage against religions other than Christian, the demonizing of all Middle Eastern people, the blatant disregard for human rights and decency, and the total lack of respect for the laws of this country is sickening...and they support all of that. They might as well start wearing white hoods.
There's a reason it's against the law to scream FIRE in a crowded theatre and BOMB on an airplane. LGF is doing both, metaphorically. - inactive, on 10/11/2007, -14/+9Digg is bringing these crappy ass sites millions.
Gizmodo.com
engadget.com
LifeHacker.com - metalica77, on 10/11/2007, -10/+2Wow sucks I thought Engadget was the most viewed blog.
