- Mystalic, on 07/28/2008, -2/+211At least they tried - if you don't try, you always fail.
- seraph582, on 07/28/2008, -0/+172Lycos? Altavista? NetZero? Kazaa? Man, this list makes me feel old! :_(
- Llanowar, on 07/28/2008, -0/+140I remember always searching the web with Altavista.
As well as having a huge 5mb geocities site.
Times certainly have changed. - Muero, on 07/28/2008, -3/+117How many Asian countries do you have?
- RedCt, on 07/28/2008, -6/+103I've only heard of a fifth of those...

??? WTF? Lifejacketstore.com ? Seriously? - jurvusbob, on 07/28/2008, -4/+89close your parentheses!
- Filipp0, on 07/28/2008, -5/+68"Trying is the first step toward failure."
Simpson, H. J. - LiberalsSuckAss, on 07/28/2008, -5/+65I see the future. In five years, we'll see an article like this:
#22: DIGG.COM: This "social networking" web site started out as a darling to tech geeks who would flock here to read about the latest gadgets and software trends. However, management's blind zeal to expand the base of the site soon caused Digg to be overrun with loud-mouthed tree-huggers and liberal political propaganda. When a potential Google merger was blown, the focus of the site became even more one-sided and political. Finally, after the 2008 election took place and the political hype was no longer necessary, Digg's long downward spiral into mediocrity got the best of them, and they were sold to high-profile user "Mr. Babyman" who now uses the domain name as a personal scrapbook of the days when he was a minor internet celebrity." - hardwareguy, on 07/28/2008, -2/+59Can i have An asian country?
- terajoule, on 07/28/2008, -1/+56Kazaa failed because of all the malware it installed on your computer.
- DismantleRepair, on 07/28/2008, -2/+56Isn't that the point though?
- NewYorkMantle, on 07/28/2008, -1/+51kozmo.com was awesome; i bought my sega dreamcast through them. a bike messenger brought it to me in the middle of the night, while all the video game stores in the city were sold out.
- polkaishot, on 07/28/2008, -0/+39Oh my God, I'm in 8th grade again.
- ChayD, on 07/28/2008, -2/+39Rememeber hotbot.com?
- ddast, on 07/28/2008, -4/+38I agree (it's annoying to see them left open.
- bluemist, on 07/28/2008, -2/+32Friendster (sadly) is still pretty much alive in Asia. Take for example, Philippines, where nobody knows MySpace even exists:
http://www.google.com/trends?q=friendster,+myspace ... - wassim2k, on 07/28/2008, -1/+29Well at least a bunch of hipsters got to play foosball at the office for a year or two.
- joshualamgroup, on 07/28/2008, -1/+29That was the .com bubble.
- andrewglover87, on 07/28/2008, -3/+31Is it just me, or was 2001 a bad year for failed start-ups?
- levelred, on 07/28/2008, -1/+29i remember most of those. so don't feel old....
remember this? then you are old...

- Squaros, on 07/28/2008, -5/+30o reary?
- 9966, on 07/28/2008, -0/+24Kozmo wasn't a restaurant. They were a large scale version of a service I had during my college years called "Campus Snacks" except they forgot to mark up and charge for delivery. Late night stoners are willing to pay a premium to get cigarettes, ice cream, a movie, and nerds rope delivered to their door.
It was a great idea, poor execution. - revjustin2, on 07/28/2008, -1/+25You were in 8th grade in the late 90's-early 00's? Wow...that makes me feel old.
- Pegritz, on 07/28/2008, -1/+21Never, ever trust an article on a business site that is as full of ridiculous spelling and usage errors as this one is. Though the content is cool, the author clearly has no concept of proofreading and/or editing.
- drgirlfriend, on 07/28/2008, -1/+21Additionally, those of us in America tend to capitalize the first letter of a sentence.
- petebert, on 07/28/2008, -6/+25Compuglobalhypermeganet
- Hartley1942, on 07/28/2008, -0/+18How I envy them.
- charliecharlos, on 07/28/2008, -1/+18Where's Pownce?
- nj7703, on 07/28/2008, -1/+18I would add Netscape to that list, even though it lives on in spirit in the Mozilla Foundation.
- timusca, on 07/28/2008, -0/+16Free Tibet!
I'll take it!
Hello, China? I believe I have something you may want... - mediaspree, on 07/28/2008, -2/+18pics of your asian wife or it didnt happen
- seraph582, on 07/28/2008, -0/+15Wow, you're a youngster then - I remember most of those, and I was in or just out of highschool for most of them.
- ScrewedThePooch, on 07/28/2008, -0/+15They forgot AOL
- revjustin2, on 07/28/2008, -0/+15Interesting article, but really poorly written. My fave was when the author switched the gender of a person in one of the "stories". The dude's name was stated as Hugh Carol (or something) and then, after referring to this person by their last name, Hugh suddenly becomes a "she".
- x1soundgarden1x, on 07/28/2008, -0/+15for those of you unaware, cuil.com is the new search engine launched today by former google employees. I just tried it and its servers are SLOW SLOW SLOW. But bravo for the comment.
- kaykfrink, on 07/28/2008, -0/+14"Kids, you tried your best and you failed miserably. The lesson is, never try."
Simpson, Homer Jay - inactive, on 07/28/2008, -0/+14I'll take Thailand, thank you.
- DaHuuuuuudge, on 07/28/2008, -1/+13I always hated that quote. Yoda is supposed to be wise, but that's the kind of thing only an idiot would say.
- M80mayhem, on 07/28/2008, -0/+11You don't remember your broker screaming, "Lifejacketstore.com! Lifejacketstore.com!". Where have you been?!
- TheSpook, on 07/28/2008, -1/+12Nice work, Sherlock.
- mediaspree, on 07/28/2008, -0/+11They must've changed it, I had to scroll through 5 or so pages.
- bowe, on 07/28/2008, -1/+11and maybe soon Digg...
- alwilson, on 07/28/2008, -2/+12Ahhh.. the good ol' days when you could get your favorite game machine delivered in the middle of the night to your mother's basement. Now we have to stand in line overnight with everyone else waiting for the store to open.
- CowboyBebop, on 07/28/2008, -2/+12My wife uses Friendster all the time. Though, it's probably because she's Asian and Friendster is apparently popular in the Asian countries. Regardless, it is still popular and not a failure. Is it as big of a success as Facebook or Myspace? No, but it's not a failure and still thriving.
- eryximachus, on 07/28/2008, -1/+11Best post on Digg all year.
- minkusingh, on 07/28/2008, -1/+10"if you aint first, you're last!"
