hate clicking and closing ads. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Why can't sites go back to putting articles on one to two pages instead of breaking it up in to 5+ pages? Its bad enough that I can only ready two paragraphs at a time but al the friggen adds crammed onto the page makes it that much worse.
- 404notfound, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I have to say that there's probably no better Linux live CD distro (adapted to USB flash memory sticks, of course) for your thumb drive than SLAX. The standard version is about 177 MB, and downloading and installing additional software from the list of "modules" is a snap. You can fit in a fair amount of crucial apps and still be able to keep the size of the ISO below 256 MB. And for those of you still using a 128 MB stick, there's the "popcorn edition" that's only 104 MB without any extra modules.
As for the installation on the thumb drive itself, it couldn't be easier. Download the ISO of your choice, the software modules you want, and the MySlax installer, and the installer will walk you through the entire process. - angrykeyboarder, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1You might want to double check your links before posting a story.....

http://www.dotcomunderground.com/blogs/2006/10/08/how-to-run-web-server-from-usb-flash-drive/ - iggywig, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Thats not a bad idea if you've got the space.. I know XBMC will read USB flash drives under 4Gb now! Emulators anyone?
- alanmarchman, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Thing #24. USB pr0n drive.
- cvelusc, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1No digg. PC World is not deserving of any consumer traffic to their website. Their website contains more advertisements than content.
- inveterate, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Opps, that's on PC World, not PC mag...
- Phoenyx, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Hm... that article was a lot shorter than expected. I have XAMPP (http://www.apachefriends.org/en/xampp.html) on my USB drive. It is Apache, MySQL, PHP, and Perl all together. It allows me to turn any computer I'm at into a web server--very handy for a web developer like me.
- kakapu4u, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Plug it into your XBox to play your backed up games?
http://www.midwest-games.com/usbadforxbox.html - timjbart, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0wow, that article helped me, i'm going round the world for 6 months so a lot of those things were very handy, thanks!
- spacebar14, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0@maddog:
Nice link thanks :) - BNJM, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Has anyone used the SyncToy from Microsoft? If so, is it reliable? Thanks.

- burke, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Hey, that XAMPP thing was pretty much exactly what I've been looking for. Thanks!
- dggeek, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Article is 13 things shy of the 23 mark. No digg.
- super_structure, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I'm not really sure what advantages a bootable recovery USB drive has over a CD or a DVD. It's a great proof of concept, but a pricey solution with additional setup required.
- melvyn, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I too vote that PC World should learn how to put more than one para on the page. It's not that difficult really.
- cyclotron, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0Why not "that?" As long as its love..
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0#1 put files on it
#2-#23 are actually just #1
No digg - PlancksCnst, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0"Has anyone used the SyncToy from Microsoft? If so, is it reliable? Thanks."

- flashmaster, on 10/12/2007, -3/+0I can think of 23 things you can do with this story
