- LordOfFli, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Did anyone else actually read the article? It doesn't mention anything about a 40GB hard drive or the price. In fact it says it uses Compact Flash Type I. The H1D, this article is about the H2D, says it uses the 40 GB drive, but that it's external, not internal. http://www.dphoto.us/news/node/view/346
When did digg turn into Slashdot! RTFA! - tacocat, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1First this
then a leica digital rangefinder
and thus no reason to ever use film again - wellington, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I want it... I do I do!
- HyperX, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0woah that's like (approx) 16meters squared!! i mean who needs a picture that big
- Spal, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0im a camera fan and this thig is f***ing amazing
- zoolander, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0yeah, but Phase One digital backs are THE state of the art.
- Cam_86, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Wow... Imagine the kinda pr0n you could shoot with that. I mean common, only a few industry's will be able to justify the insane resolution needed. Namely pornography, and paparazzi.
- Dolphbucs, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0When I was over in Greece last year ( working the Olympics for Kodak ) there was a photographer using the prototype of this camera. Pictures were awesome. We blew one print up to 3ft x 5ft and the detail was incredible.
- Tankdog, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Needs a larger hd.. 40GB aint going to cut it.
- valan, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0some day that will be on everyone's phone
- snyy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I bet that 40 Gb hard drive fills up in no time
- Al3xander, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0awesome
- Kindred420, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0i want one also, this would make my canon 20D look like a walgreens disposable
- riffst3r, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0pssh, a $500 scanner can pull out 26MP from a 35mm scan.
- tradergordo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0If you need resolution that high, why not use film and save about $25,000?
- bnolsen, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0A 9" aerial film camera (9" x 9" negatives) has an effective scanned resolution of about 14 microns which results in ~ 16,000 x 16,000 image. That's about 256MP. That'll be the next industry to get toppled by digital. A 40GB drive fills up with that pretty fast...
- mikae1, on 10/12/2007, -0/+016 meters squared? Not even the 39 megapixel (7216 x 5412 pixels) Phase One P45 digital back is more than ~ 90x68cm uninterpolated at 200 dpi.
- tobsterius, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0"What to do with 26mp?" Simple.. Think size. You aren't going to be using a 6mp camera to shoot an ad that is gonna go on a giant billboard in Times Square and expcet it to look good.
- blanc, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0this has been out for a while. well, i don't know. i know the H1 has been out over over a year. the really bitchin' thing about these is the Leaf back that has bluetooth built-in and sends an image preview and histogram to a palm-pilot-like (something with a colour screen obviously) devise or laptop or anything with a colour screen and bluetooth really. The resolution of the images is dependant upon the back though, which like i said, has been out for quite some time.
for more info on the leaf digital backs go here:
http://www.dpreview.com/news/0409/04090701creoleafaptus.asp - bnolsen, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Cost of film, cost of processing it, labor involved in cost per scan. Lint, scratches and chemical stains (newton rings) on the film from handling and processing it. The one advantage film brings is that it's less sensitive to under & overexposure than digital.
- SystemError, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0"pssh, a $500 scanner can pull out 26MP from a 35mm scan."
35mm? humm.
JK - Th3_anOmoLy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0well, of course i have the twenty seven grand, who doesn't:) But, geez, what to do w/ twenty two megapixels O_o
- Kashey, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Hmmm 22MP. I guess it's good for huge billboards and Budweiser posters (which normally can cover fully a huge banquet hall). 5MP is what 90% of people will ever need.
- edifyquest, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0yes, the h2d does have a internal hard drive. it says this in the article.it doesn't mention the size of the drive though.go the Hasselblad web site. also, if you look around the web, you'll find that the price is about $27,000. no, the linked web site does not tell you all of this. yes, apparently, this is old news. sorry. :)
- bedheadben, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0i know what to do with all those megapixels, either crop it.... to the MAX, or blow up the picture, and put it on a wall, u know, like at some ski resorts
- hypnotoad1, on 10/12/2007, -2/+0I submitted this link last week. Old news.
- DiMo, on 10/12/2007, -3/+0fits right in your anus.
