- smoothmedia, on 10/12/2007, -7/+68Imagine trying to start an "all white" social networking site.
WhiteWorld.com or something...
I really don't like this kind of segregation, even if it has good intentions. - LuisCypher, on 10/12/2007, -3/+51@vemerge
there is no such thing as "Reverse racism" it's just racism plain and simple.
No one race/culture has a lock on being racist.
By using phrases like that you perpetuate a bad set of ideas. - deannnnnn, on 10/12/2007, -0/+22A signature? Is this some sort of new Digg feature?
Oh, you're just spamming your blog that nobody cares about. FYI, signatures universally get dugg down on Digg. - wilhoitm, on 10/12/2007, -4/+20BlackPlanet will let you White guys sign up no problem, but if you start talking about World of Warcraft (WoW) or something like that they might boot your ass out of there.
- vemerge, on 10/12/2007, -11/+27@smoothmedia:
Reverse racism at work! Imagine if we had an all-white college, or an all-white bank (like the First Nations Bank of Canada), or a White Gaming Authority. Ugh. - hometoast, on 10/12/2007, -0/+12This list should really be "The Top Three"
Myspace, Facebook, Everyone else. I think < 1% of "network share" doesn't deem you a competing site.
Also, think of all the garbage pages on myspace loaded with huge pictures, video etc; While facebook and linkedin etc tend to be lighter on the browser than myspace. - mrspin, on 10/12/2007, -0/+10FYI, the author is disabled, but not of the 'short-bus' variety. You ***** dumb ass.
- thcobbs, on 10/12/2007, -0/+9You mean Google's social networking site is only #14!!
This must change. We must not upset our gOverlords! - thcobbs, on 10/12/2007, -1/+9Firstly, EWWWWW!
Secondly, NSFW!
Finally, *bitch slaps merkul for showing me that before I even had my coffee* - LuisCypher, on 10/12/2007, -1/+9@thcobbs
No , I am saying that the word "reverse" is not required and it is detrimental to his argument.
By adding the word reverse vemerge implies, probably unintentionally, that only whites can be racist( the subject of his post ), and that if someone from another race/culture acts this way it is unusual. - thcobbs, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8@Accura
Since you're just now welcoming them, your name has been filed in the "passive resistors" file for later use in filtering. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -7/+15If you start talking about doing good in school and growing up in the suburbs and how you like heavy metal instead of hip hop. They'll ban your ass so fast.
- Ellsass, on 11/05/2008, -1/+9or our favorite episode of 'Wings'
- uhdean, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8Speaking of full of SPAMMERS!
- PAJK, on 10/12/2007, -6/+14LMAO @ WhiteWorld - someone should really create that, just to make a point.
- mikesly, on 10/12/2007, -3/+10It always seems acceptable to have Black, Latino, Asian only websites. But when it comes to having a White only website we are considered the ones at fault...
- Frankie4Fingers, on 10/12/2007, -5/+12I have always thought that it was ridiculous that there was an all black dedicated television station (BET). I don't think ET is "white entertainment television" so why does the FCC allow black entertainment television? Is that segregation from this day and age at work? It is not only black stuff too, there are all Mexican television stations as well, but I guess they are not as bad because it is just a language and culture and not a race.
- ThirdPrize, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6What you need is a social networking website aggregator.
- PoopsMcG, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6And how the mighty friendster has fallen...
- iloveroundtable, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5Linked In?
- underthelinux, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6Because this is only US. Hi5 is big in other countries for example.
Also, 1% of $50000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000 is still $500000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000. - opethlike, on 10/12/2007, -2/+7Because all white guys play WoW and no black guys do. The circle of racism is now complete.
/sarcasm - joper90, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5Leroy was actually white..
- Renton, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6"Doing WELL in school"
Ahhhh, *banhammer* - ThirdPrize, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4True. Orkut is big in South America isn't it?
- lazyleo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4WoW now that is some traffic..myspace can make its own country if it want..
- ThirdPrize, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5Makes you wonder why the bottom half dozen bother.
- ThirdPrize, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4I think it only really works if you have friends in the "real world". You all join the same site and you can all keep in touch, no matter where you are. You can probably even meet friends of friends, as in the "real world". If you join one purely for the purpose of having joined one then it probably woud be a fairly lonely experience.
- tylerni7, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5But realistically, I don't think any company really makes 500 sextdecillion dollars, even MySpace.
- 98acura, on 10/12/2007, -2/+5I, for one, welcome our gOverlords...
sorry, had to be done - mbstrlbstr, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4Seriously, make sure you tag it NSFW, some of us don't want to see that.
- monarch00, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Since when is Livejournal considered a social networking site?
- sheepster, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3lol! location: ghana
wouldn't be funny if she wasn't dressed as a slut sitting on that bed reading a book. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3@thirdprize
no i think he needs a life. - CrimsonR, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3So true, was digg ever measured as a social site? You'd probably find more hits here daily then on Facebook atleast. It should now be our goal to take myspace off that list. (or just knock it down a notch)
- philz, on 10/12/2007, -2/+5This is what I got on the front page of blackplanet.com: http://www.blackplanet.com/users/2_DOLLAR_HORE/canvas/view.html
Ewww
(NSFW?) - synkipate, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3http://www.blackplanet.com/users/johnzalewski1322/canvas/view.html - the first profile i clicked on...on the front page
- Sferrero, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3If you hate the Myspace Website. Try Virb.
www.virb.com - NymphoChik, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3 What about GeoCities? ;)
- ThisBlows, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2You didn't expect a "social networking" submission and thread to be valid or viable did you?
- ThirdPrize, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3We are all your friends here at Digg. Unless of course your name is Bill Gates.
- 98acura, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Look for a video called "Shift Happens" it talks about myspace beign a country... If it were, it would be the 11th largest country in the world.
- jazbek, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I can't believe tribe.net isn't even on there. It's my favorite by far. Poor tribe :(
- franco313, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Virb in 6 months will get like 10% market share IMO
- alabut, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Dugg because a friend just recently left my last company to work at Gaia (#12 in the list) and they're a tiny startup - it's crazy that they're cracking into the top 20 already. Most of the rest (if not all?) are probably run by much huger teams and deeper pockets.
- Time4SumWupAzz, on 11/18/2008, -0/+1Man I spent a lot of time browsing this digg. Xcellent.
- deedas, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1What? No virb? virb is out of beta it should be in the list.
- CrimsonR, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Stormfront is basically a neo-nazi site. No one here is saying whites can't join the organizations in question, they are meant as social organizations centered around different cultural backgrounds. But its true that most white people would not fit well into those sites because they don't share that aspect of culture, and bringing a bit of their own would be unwelcome on those sites.
Conversely, if someone went and made a site that is supposed to be a white interest social network or television show (not a neo-nazi, kkk sympathizing bs thing) where other cultures' issues were less welcome because of the environment, that would be considered racist in this world; AND that's the issue, that's the problem. If what they do with blackplanet is okay, something like whiteplanet should be too, but its not "ok" or "acceptable".Freedom of speach will allow you to do it, but you will never see it on a list of sites like this.
...just saying... - JosephRatliff, on 03/02/2008, -0/+1I like the idea of a social site aggregator...that's a good one :)
Joseph Ratliff
