Not gonna lie, that's cool. Bet he could have a blast with the Wii's controller. - boxomojo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+9it's well documented fool. it's not like people are going around trying to prove every historical person is gay. i'm really tired of idiots who think homosexuality is a new idea.
- DanAtkinson, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8Some of it is theory-based and isn't proven as factual knowldege. Therefore, the title would be better as:
'Some things that you didn't know about Leonardo da Vinci, and some things we're not so sure about, either.'
I guess they thought that that title sucked. - dylanrjones, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7Actually, this is relatively easy to do. The pattern generating mechanism in the brain automatically creates the reverse program for your other hand. My neurobiology prof showed this to the class. Next time you are at a chalk board, grab two pieces and try it out.
- emiles, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7When did the article claim it was his last name? It's just the way everyone knows to identify this guy, just as we say "Catherine the Great".
- dbr_onix, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6Okay, but.. how the feck did they get these facts(?), and it seems slightly thin on any evidence..
- Ben - DanAtkinson, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5Well, you know it, so that wouldn't be on the list now, would it?! ;)
- n0xie, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5Why is this even on Digg? Is this considered News nowadays? An arbitrairy list on an arbitrairy site with no proof that the claims are actually true?
This sounds more like a glossy magazine list ("10 ways to make your lover notice you more!") than anything with remote news value. - boxomojo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4that's right and wrong...yes the name denotes his place of birth but that's how people were identified. Whether or not it's a family name is irrelevant. it's no different than people in england who used to have names like "miller" or "smith." those namees were originally denoting profession but were used to differentiate. it's still perfectly legitimate to call da vinci his last name.
- tanxadillo, on 10/12/2007, -4/+7What? No mention of his love for little boys?
- CamoChris, on 10/12/2007, -4/+6No mention of Dan Brown's theories either.
- Isidore, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2The Last Supper painting DOES have a chalice - look above the leftmost Apostle's head www.danbrown.com/secrets/davinci_code/last_supper.html
Leonardo painted lots of men eg John the Baptist looking 'effeminate' www.artchive.com/artchive/L/leonardo/leonardo_baptist.jpg.html
This debunking of Dan Brown is by an atheist of Skeptic magazine
www.skeptic.com/the_magazine/featured_articles/v11n4_da_vinci_code.php - tylerni7, on 10/12/2007, -3/+4Yea it wasn't his full name, it was a nick name. When he says da Vinci, you know who he's talking about right? If you really think Dan Brown didn't realize that da Vinci just meant of Vinci, then you are not very bright...

Why can't you sloped foreheaded religious nutjobs get that through your thick skulls?!@ - endersadvocate, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1he also wrote all his journal entries from right to left backwards. this is fun if you are left handed, i prefer it over conventional writing but my teacher complained :)
- theplant, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3I /can/, but why would I want to?
(see http://digg.com/links/20_Things_You_Didn_t_Know_About_Leonardo_da_Vinci%09#c1707748 ) - haba, on 10/12/2007, -1/+221. He hated "The Da Vinci Code"
- shopsinc, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1This is a neat article about davinci from 1939
http://blog.modernmechanix.com/2006/01/31/leonardo-da-vinci-%e2%80%94edison-of-yesterday/ - kbahey, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1It is on digg because of a movie that has Leonardo's name in the title, based on a fiction novel presented as having factual basis, which in turn is based/borrowed from a book by two pseudo historians who plagiarized the work of a French conman who claimed that Leonardo is a keeper of a secret that Jesus married and had children and their descendants are the heirs to the throne of France ...
Go figure ... - dj_sea2005, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1well I'll be damned.
didn't think id see the day that the words "sodomy" and "Mona Lisa" would be used in the same sentence. - wildtangent, on 10/12/2007, -3/+3Yea.. right sure they are not !!!!!
- izzybomb, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2This is a pretty crappy list. Especially:
"5 Theory #2: She was amused by the musicians and clowns who entertained her while Leonardo painted her. (Another theory says the Mona Lisa is a portrait of Leonardo himself, slyly disguised. But you'd heard that one before, hadn't you?)
6 Columbia University art historian James Beck retorts, "As sure as the moon is not made of green cheese, this is not da Vinci in drag."
7 Then again, unusual for a painter, Leonardo left no definitive image of himself. "
Those really aren't things about leonardo we didn't know... - scrtyfrk, on 10/12/2007, -6/+5Well, for an article full of facts about Leonardo they sure missed a big one: "da Vinci" is not Leonardo's last name but rather the place he was identified with (i.e. Vinci, Italy). Yes, that means that Dan Brown's book title properly translated means "The of Vinci Code" or at best "The Code of Vinci: A Town in Tuscany". The Da Vinci Code is to the Renaissance what Margaret Mitchell's Gone with the Wind is to the Civil War nothing more than fiction trying to be passed as truth.
For God's sake, the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles got the name right (Leonardo, Donatello, etc...), why can't everyone else!!! - Bogtha, on 10/12/2007, -4/+2Can anybody else read this Leonardo story?
- crazyjeff0, on 10/12/2007, -3/+0If he was so smart, why is he dead?
- lp1977, on 10/12/2007, -5/+0"An ambidextrous, paranoid dyslexic, Leonardo could draw forward with one hand while writing backward with the other, producing a mirror-image script that others found difficult to read."
Did you hear he also was an agnostic, dyslexic insomniac? I read somewhere that he used to stay up all night pondering whether there really was a dog. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -9/+2I am really tired of every ***** with an agenda trying to portray historical figures as gay.

What is Digg?
