- bg_27, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2the BMW m3 E46 had a similar thing for the SMG transmission to do a burn out, its called launch control:
http://www.m3smg.com/fpfiles/specialfunctions/launchcontrol.mov - wet_napkin, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3My truck has a similar ''cheat code''
Step one: Put gas to floor
Step two: Well, thats about it, really, but it works anyway. - tifosiv122, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Mercedes has a similar thing, it puts the car into Dyno mode which disables all safety features, ABS, BAS, and ESP:
For 2003+ Mercedes:
1. With key in position 1
2. Press trip odometer reset button 3 times
3. Go through screens and find ESP Dynometer Test
4. Set to ON
5. Start car without safety systems - shotgun, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Turning off the traction control using a code in a car is not something new. Volvo has had "secret codes" to turn off their traction control for many years. Most cars it's simple, push the traction control button and it's either on or off. I guess oversteer just isn't considered fun by most people. :)
- navtiidia, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0are there any hacks for a honda civic 2003-2004 ex?
- Soave, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I thought this said "Lexus is hack"
- nymphetamine, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0lol. that 'cheat code' just sounds so funny.
- a_greer, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0My buddys olds Alero has toggle switches for traction control and ABS, why dont all cars? Why cant I enter a "just let ME brive the ***** car" mode?
- a_amurphy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Anyone know the cheat code for unlimited fuel?
These gas prices are killing me. - Otto, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Wow. Amazing that they even bothered to hide it. On my car there's a button on the dash that disables Traction Control, ABS, etc. One push. Works while driving, even, no need to restart the car.

It seems you bought your truck before the car companys started to make vehicals with DRM or should I say VRM. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0there is a hack for the 89 mustang lx as well (at least for my *****)
first you turn it on in park. then with the emergency break up you pump the brake about ten good hard times, then on the tenth time, you hold it for about five seconds. when you let go of the brake, (drumroll) the car stalls out even though it is an automatic. happy hacking - Prozium, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0The new Ferrari F430 has this too. From the motor trend article
http://motortrend.com/roadtests/coupe/112_0506_fordvferrari/index5.html
"When it’s set up, the car is in first gear with the clutch engaged and spinning. Holding the car in place with the brakes, the driver shoots the revs up to 4000 rpm and releases the brake pedal. Rather than spinning the tires, the clutch spins down from 4000 rpm until it locks up at the top of first gear for a launch that’d be about as smooth and quick as those you see on a Formula 1 grid. At 1.3 seconds to 30 mph, the Ferrari chops two to three tenths from every measured speed and finishes the quarter mile only one tenth of a second and 3.4 mph behind the GT. In our spec chart, we ran both the “normal” and “secret” launch acceleration numbers in parentheses. For shift speeds and relative acceleration rates, see the accompanying graph for the best recorded runs of these two cars." - mancat, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0klaymen, that's not an easter egg. your power brake vacuum reservoir has a leak, and is only going to get worse if you keep messing with the brake. get it fixed before you lose power steering going down the highway at 70 some day soon.
- mancat, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0*power brakes, I mean, not power steering.
- Philbert, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0up, up, down, down, left, right, left, right...
- hholland, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Lame! All it does is turn off skid control right? This is built in by the factory for testing. Plus Lexus < Ferrari anyway, who wants a Lexus? Pffh, for n00bs...

Thanks tifosiv122 for that, never knew about that mode ! - mindsinker, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Nice little pissing match in the comments.
- Mfrosty, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0In my Scion TC there's a bunch of easter eggs in the Stereo Head unit.
- lowridah, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0my first car had a hack.....you ran it out of oil and it threw a rod, causing mom and dad to buy you a more "reliable" and newer car.
- h0dg3s, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0you can replace computers and/or chips in a lot of current vehicles to achieve the same thing. Look on ebay for performance chips.
- streetlamp, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0This can be done with pretty much any car, and if it doesnt have a way to turn it off. Simply drop in a new ECU without traction control.
- CLIFFosakaJAPAN, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Niiiiiice.....!!!! This deserves a Digg...

Because what tends to happen is this: Guy accidentally turns off safety features, crashes, dies. Car company is caught up in a multi million dollar law suit with his widow. Other people come forward claiming that their loved ones also died because of this switch. Then, the special interest groups (i.e. unemployed people who are paid to whine) come out of the woodwork and propose laws to make said switch illegal on production vehicles. - sekyuritei, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0My 350Z has the same thing - I can turn off VDC (Vehicle Dynamic Control) by pushing a button on the dash. I also tried this with on/off while test driving an Infiniti G35 coupe. Kinda surprising you have to go through the extra hoops, since most cars seem to tout being able to turn off TCS or VDC as a feature...
- DiggedBy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0this story was farked (obvious through the comments)... i forgot how many running jokes the fark community has going. i also remembered why i left fark behind and now read digg.
- pox05, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0vortex is an awesome forum for cars, i go there alot. i am not surprised that they are the source of this news.

This isn't a very logical hypothetical. Wouldn't turning off all safety features put the car on the same level as cars made 10 years ago and older? Couldn't I sue the Volvo for not upgrading my 1990 DL to current saftey standards?
Blah, whatever...people need to take responsibility for their actions. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Sweeet! Now I can put all the undue strain and wear and tear on my new car!
-digg - HiddenLYNX, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0this is a dupe am i wrong? no digg
- Moose_Head, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0You can bypass the speed limiter on 2001-2006 Monte Carlo & Impala by keeping the car in gear 3 then moving the gear selector to Drive when you are about to hit the limiter.
- meridian, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0i just recently bought this car a week ago and you can turn off the stablity control, there is a button.
i can do a drift and burn out with out this, but its retardedly hard for me because the way Lexus puts the EBrake as a pedal.
My only gripes is there is a stuipd alarm that sounds if you dont have your seatbelt on while driving (even thought i put one on) and that the LCD Screen next to the speedometor doesnt show the clock.
Overall, alot better than the M3/G35 both in speed and in MPG. - ManiacFive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0"This isn't a very logical hypothetical. People DONT take responsibilty for their actions, this is why we have a huge welfare state, and frivilous lawsuits filed every second.
That situation is exactly what happened to Ford with SUV's. Back in the sixties SUV's were trucks with passenger copartments basically, thats the way they were built. In a rollover, they sucked.
About ten years ago people came out the word work and sued FOR THE WAY CARS WERE 30 YEARS AGO!
Hence now we have all these safety systems, if they didnt have them, yet they are available, people would sue. - powerover, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0"Overall, alot better than the M3/G35 both in speed and in MPG"
Hahaha, I can't stop laughing at this one. For some reason or another, I was under the impression that 0-60 in 4.8 seconds was faster than 5.6 seconds, but I do got to a state funded school so... The M3 is lighter, makes more HP, has wider tires, tops out at 13 miles faster than the IS350, and out-performs the IS in any performance category you can cook-up. As for the G35, your probably right. - kinderstod, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0@Moose Head: I have an '05 Impala LS, wouldn't running the car in Gear 3 at that high of speed ***** with the transmission?
- meridian, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Yea, this isnt a hack, but you can turn of VSC with the button, but this also disables ABS/etc.

Yeah I'm laughing right along with you. M3 would destroy the IS350, it is by far the best tuned and best handling car in the lot. Although I disagree with your G35 statement, the new G35's are 300hp and handle pretty well (although not as well as the M3). I think the G35 is the best of breed because you get the same 300hp engine at all trim levels (whereas you need to get the IS350 trim level to get 300hp from Lexus) and damn if the G35 isn't just a hot ass looking car. I like the IS350 and M3, but they don't get the stares that the G35 gets. - vernsan, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0"up, up, down, down, left, right, left, right..."
lol - asplodzor, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0There's a similar hack for my Lexus ES 300 that turns my TC (traction control) off - it's a button on my dash that's labeled TC Off.
- sabster, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1my car has a similiar hack.. rev enginge... pull from neutral to drive.. steer wheel and burnout.. bang alex albrechts gf HAHA she isnt even that hot anyway

- digg - rhfootball, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0I have a Lexus IS-350. I won't be trying this. BTW: That site has a lot of dubious information on it, like the "elevator hack" that's a load of BS. Here's a site with better information: http://kevinroseiscute.blogspot.com/
