I think it is more like they do everything in their power to make sure no new innovations make it to the market that would require them to upgrade their network, why upgrade when you are making a killing just the way things are? How long has it taken AT&T to get MMS and tethering to the iPhone as a example, while most every other carrier of the iPhone around the world was able to?
Though you are right, they will make sure to figure out how to get the most out of any new stuff they do put out. But I still don't think they go out of their way to develop new technology. Pretty much everything in those commercials had nothing to do with AT&T at all. - Skywise, on 09/20/2009, -0/+38It happened faster than architecture could even keep up... There was a new, very modern, movie theater built nearby in '98 that had pay phone "stalls" built into the walls on either side of the main entrance. The pay phones are long gone but the stalls, with the phone book shelves are still there.
