- Rwshilling, on 11/01/2009, -0/+257I thought that these guides were going to show me something like how to change a spark-plug or start a fire without matches or something...
- 64705, on 11/01/2009, -4/+247One thing missing from this list is a guide on how to make a successful guide.
- mareksoon, on 11/01/2009, -14/+120I thought macs were so gosh-darn perfect they were above manuals.

(BONUS) PSP Up- and Downgrading Guide - arthursk, on 11/01/2009, -0/+57Aside from twitter, I think everyone on digg already knows all of this stuff.
- mehan, on 11/01/2009, -0/+49that's some pretty useless ***** right there.
- TwenT4, on 11/01/2009, -3/+49Bookmarked!
...only to never look at it again due to laziness. - Swarms, on 11/01/2009, -9/+39So I was born before 1988, I shouldn't know this stuff?
- BasalCellBossk, on 11/01/2009, -1/+25Sorry you're having such trouble, maybe there's a dating site or something you can sign up to, will help you. Good luck.
- unic0rn, on 11/01/2009, -0/+18Wtf??
They're amazing. - Junkyarddawg, on 11/01/2009, -0/+17Only until you've tried to get one to understand a device it does not instantly understand, try to personalize anything about how the OS looks or operates, or try to open a file created by program A with program B.
- dsuse15, on 11/01/2009, -0/+17Well, my little brother was born in 1988, and he probably doesn't know anything in these guides. He even went to a Prep High School and is currently going to Florida Tech for mechanical engineering. In my experience, kids his age seem to take the technology for granted. I think no matter what your age, if you're a digg user you probably know this stuff.
- guttersniper, on 11/01/2009, -1/+18The PC-making guide claimed to literally hold my hand every step of the way yet I did not experience any hand-holding while reading the guide. I am considering a lawsuit.
- MtheoryX, on 11/01/2009, -2/+18Perhaps you should start with the "How to make a witty comment on Digg" guide first.
- m6arate, on 11/01/2009, -0/+13The title should read: 15 **self-proclaimed** useful guides by MakeUseOf.com
- RoloTomasie, on 11/01/2009, -1/+13Idiot's guide to building computers...idiots can build computers w/o guides.
I do it frequently. - BananaGrabber, on 11/01/2009, -3/+13Needs to include the Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy.
- legoalert33, on 11/02/2009, -0/+9You take the wire off, you take the plug out with your hand or with a spark plug socket while hopeing you don't break it off in there, measure that gap and regap if needed the new plug (some don't get regapped if made right), put it in, clean out the wire plug then put in new dielectric grease, put wire on and your done. Same basic thing for almost any car distributor or coil packs. And if ***** is in the way like crappy and decorative plastic or hoses you just move them out of the way.
Also I think its funny that you think a Lexus is anything different or special other than being a luxury yota. - Cocomon24, on 11/02/2009, -0/+9How to start a fire with your spark plug?
- thehuntofdear, on 11/02/2009, -0/+8I was born during 1988. The real 'lost' generation?
- darkwing81, on 11/01/2009, -0/+7I have a lot of PDFs I have to read for school. Try Foxit reader it is much better than adobe.
- GMofOLC, on 11/01/2009, -1/+7I thought it pop-up add made the list more interesting considering its placement:
http://imgur.com/iBScH.jpg - TwenT4, on 11/03/2009, -0/+6I know everyone is going to think I'm a complete idiot, but it took me like 10 minutes to figure out how to open the goddamn DVD drive on a MacPro at work, my very first exposure to a Mac machine... after years of working with windows and linux. Not really complaining, but in my opinion, different != better.
- Ehmcee, on 11/01/2009, -4/+10I am sure everyone on Digg is aware of the Tweak Guides Tweaking Companions for both XP and Vista. Windows 7 guides (32 and 64) should be posted soon. Koroush Ghazi is the author, and he does a bang up job. I am frankly surprised that they were not included in the article. Check it out here: http://www.tweakguides.com
- Joker99352, on 11/01/2009, -2/+7Yawn. YAWWWWN.
- Vindexus, on 11/02/2009, -3/+8He didn't say that.
- QubitTarutaru, on 11/02/2009, -0/+5No guides on how to solve various non-linear, second-order differential equations? Damn...
- Mazthorion, on 11/01/2009, -7/+12Not bad, don't care much for twitter but the linux one looks useful
- legoalert33, on 11/02/2009, -4/+9Wait, you need a guide to change a spark plug?
- svivian, on 11/03/2009, -0/+5Why would you bookmark it? Just download them all (and put them in a folder that you'll never look at).
- blankman, on 11/01/2009, -6/+11I don't find any of those guides "USEFUL". Something like "how to buy a home for a lot less money than is being asked", or "how to get every possible tax discount legally" would be useful guides. Not iphone guides.
- Charlie1er, on 11/01/2009, -0/+5How to use an oven... ( I mean, how not to burn food, so I can show them to my mexican roomates...)
- Peko, on 11/02/2009, -1/+6Missing: The Best guide to SUPERFLUOUSLY CAPITALIZING Digg Headlines for Most Annoying IMPACT.
Chapters include Cruise Control, When not to capitalize Sheeple (i.e. nevar) - hanglerfig, on 11/01/2009, -2/+7Love the photoshop one. Been looking for something like this, and thank you to the OP.
- GusterBear, on 11/02/2009, -1/+6Um, so it can be portable? So you don't have to have to be online to read it? So it can be printed in a very specific format, much like a book.
The reasons for using a PDF are vast. You're complaining that they've put these into convenient self contained free files for you to enjoy?
Are you really that much of a DB?
Don't answer... you already have. - justmeanddigg, on 11/01/2009, -2/+6Not a single one of those guides has anything useful to me.
- shreyans, on 11/02/2009, -0/+4Yeah seriously.
"If you have extra money in your budget, definitely spring for an LCD [as opposed to a CRT]".
WHAT YEAR IS THIS? Holy crap. - RagManX, on 11/04/2009, -0/+4'Cause Chevy didn't make a 327 in '55, the 327 didn't come out till '62. And it wasn't offered in the Bel Air with a four-barrel carb till '64. However, in 1964, the correct ignition timing would be four degrees before top-dead-center.
- steviesteveo, on 11/01/2009, -4/+8Whether or not any of these are useful to any particular person depends on if you need or are interested in movies, audio, a mac, an iphone, twitter, windows mobile, productivity tips, building a media centre, networks, bittorrent, linux, photoshop, itunes, building a pc, buying a laptop or up- or downgrading a PSP.
If you don't do the subject of a howto guide it's not so useful. - meddelem, on 11/02/2009, -0/+3half-assed bookmark.
- nikorf11, on 11/02/2009, -0/+3adobe acrobat reader does use up a lot of resources on your computer. but i don't mind pdfs they are quite useful, 'specially to those in the photographic field.
- JYoungest1, on 11/01/2009, -0/+3Well...I liked the productivity one.
- thavi, on 11/01/2009, -2/+5for 60 year olds maybe
- askantik, on 11/03/2009, -0/+3I'm wasting time at work by reading the guide on how to be more productive.
- TwenT4, on 11/03/2009, -0/+3***** PDF's what?
- roodammy44, on 11/01/2009, -0/+3The one about productivity was terrible. Full of vague processes that were half-assed.
The chapter on motivation - a couple of definitions ripped from a dictionary, and a bored "go for it, you really should work" kind of paragraph.
I hope this isn't what journalism or literature in the future will be like. So damned unprofessional.
It talks about the amount of time wasted every day on digg and reddit, what about the time wasted reading ***** guides? - enclaved, on 11/11/2009, -1/+4Here's a guide for you
http://img524.imageshack.us/img524/7970/commentr.j ... - Myers3979, on 11/01/2009, -0/+3If no one thinks this is useful why do people keep digging it
- J0hnnyBlaze, on 11/02/2009, -0/+3someone should rar all of these into one file
